Strange Cats

There is a strange cat outside our house. It goes around and hangs out on a porch a lot. We captured it yesterday, packed it in a box from U-Haul, and had it checked for a microchip. The scanner they used did not pick one up. But we can tell it was owned, because it has been neutered. We brought it back after the microchip scan and released it back into our neighborhood, and it is still here. We fed it this morning. Daffodil and I call it Mr. Cat. It is a boy cat. He is very sweet. He is black and white. He is mildly shy at times, very welcoming at others. My mom has dealt with cats before and will not take it in. She asserts that she will not take it in because it has fleas. Also, she says that everything she's read says that when you find a lost cat, take it in and put up "Found cat" posters and whatnot. She disagrees, and says that when you see a lost cat, give it some kibble if you have any, and hope it doesn't die but if it does, not your problem. But this cat continues to hang around, and we continue to feed it etc. Daffodil has a job feeding our neighbor's pet cats while they are on vacation, and as part of the job, she must feed this strange cat.

What is its business in our neighborhood? Where did it come from?
I wonder...

It likely will hang around as long as you feed it. I love cats.

I agree with Admin.  I would put up some found cat signs, and if no one claims him in a month, take it to a local animal shelter.

Perhaps take a picture of it, and ask local vets if they recognize it.

We have a 'neighborhood' cat called Mr. Bo Jangles that likes to wander. He actually does belong to someone, but he is an outdoor cat who is allowed to roam around. He likes to come into our yard and see us.

Once my cat, Hailey, was sitting in the window on a hot summer day. Mr. Bo Jangles walked up to the window, sat down, licked himself and lay in the sun. Hailey was MAD! She started to hiss, meow menacingly, and her tailed puffed out. Mr. Bo Jangles just sat there, looked at her and continued on lying in the sun. He didn't even respond to her fit. That made Hailey even angrier. Finally, she gave up and walked away to sulk.

There's one cat who belongs to someone in our neighborhood, but the cat likes to hang out in our yard. She's shy. At least, I think she's a girl, but she could be a boy. I am proud to announce that the cat only really likes me, and will run away if Steve comes. Plus, he's not quiet enough. The reason I know the cat likes me (Who, I will admit, I call "Kitty," since what else is there to call a cat?) because she'll rub against my legs. When I was really super little, Wheaty was just a kitten (Another thing I call the cat because its fur looks like wheat.) and I'm pretty sure I threw her half of an old Easter egg, and she chased it down the hill. (The end of our driveway is on the top of a hill.) I think it was Wheaty, at least.

HPIM1689Here's a picture of Wheaty sitting on a rock in the garden in our yard.

Wheaty is SO cute! My cat, Hailey, is a tiger stripe cat with brown fur and black stripes. Mr Bo Jangles is also a tiger stripe but with grey and black fur.
