Ellette's Diary.

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Ellette's Diary.

Ellette's Diary.

Ellette is from the year 1111. She is 12, and about to turn 13. This, *indicate writing*, is her diary. I hope you enjoy...

July 6, 1111

Half past Midnight.

Dear Diary,

This is my fist time writing in a book.

Father does not approve of ladies writing, my Brother thinks it necessary, and Mother doesn’t mind either way.

But I must be careful, for if Father catches me writing, he might burn you, little book. So I must write in secret.

I have many problems. One of which is that I am turning 13 soon, and Father wishes me to get married to some old man I do not know.

Also what worries me is....

Oh no! Here comes Father. I’ll hide you under the mattress for now.

Good night little book,

Ellette,

 the little elf

July 9, 1111

Midnight.

Dear Diary,

Father got quite angry with me for staying up too late and ordered some servants to ‘put me to bed that minute’!

This time I’ve been more careful. I sit by the fire, and have a screen up ‘for privacy’ but really it’s to keep him from seeing I’m still awake.

Even if Father decides to come in, I will hear his steps, and jump into my bed, and so pretend to be asleep.

I hear step, but not Father’s. It is my brother, Alistair.

“What are you still doing awake?” he demands. He pretends to be angry, but I know better. I show him the book.

He nods. “Ah, so now you’re writing. I knew you would.”

I mumble something undecipherable as I get up to put my book back under the mattress.

“Good Night Alistair.” “Good Night Ellette.”

Finally, Good Night little book,

Ellette,

 the little elf

Hey Violet I saw your post and am topping this for you. When a new thread is posted and someone makes the first reply, the thread is buried. No one knows why. When this happens, it is not possible to top the post again until the Admins post the thread's first reply.

Thanks JtS! I was wondering why my thread disappeared.

July 11, 1111

Noon.

Dear Diary,

Today we’re having stew for lunch. Yuck! It tastes like a frog and I don’t see how anyone could eat it.

So I said I’m sleepy, and have retired to my room, where I am writing in you, little book.

Tonight will be a boring party Father has every year to meet new boring royal friends.

But, during the party, I have an adventure planned. I shall sneak out in old servant’s clothes, and, disguised as a boy,  go out into the world I do not know.

Now what shall my name be?

Off to set my plan in action..

This idea of doing a diary entry is really interesting! I love the idea.

Is it OK if I do something like this?

@nina:

Sure! Besides, if it weren't for you and your theme writing thread, I probably never would have done this in the first place.

I can't wait to read what you come up with!

Also, I'll probably have the next part done by later today! :)

The Adventure, part 1.

July 13, 1111

11:00 PM.

Dear Diary,

I’ve had to take care not to do anything but what I’m supposed to for a couple days.

Curious? Good. Here’s what happened:

The party was in full motion when I snuck out. Nobody would notice I was gone...

I had just snuck out the back door when I heard someone behind me. Frightened, I awkwardly tried to climb a tree, scraping my knee in the process.

“Who’s there?” I almost fell out of the tree in relief! It was no guard, and certainly not Father.

No, instead it was one of the servant boys, whose name I forget.

I guess I made a sound, or else he could see me, because once more he called out “Who’s there?”.

That startled me, which caused me to ACTUALLY fall out of the tree. Into a bush. That hurt. And knocked off my cap. Which hid my hair. And who else would come to the rescue but him?

More about my adventure tomorrow...

Sorry I haven't written in a while. *spoiler Alert* Ellette is fine. she is alive and healthy. A little bruised but otherwise fine.

*Spoiler end*

here's the next part:

July 14, 1111

1:00 AM.

Dear Diary,

Where was I? Ah, yes. Falling out of the tree. Here goes:

Right after I had fallen out of the tree I quickly gathered up my hair and shoved it into my hat, and what else was I to do? I ran!

“Thief! Stop thief!”

So I had gone from a ‘Who’ to a ‘Thief’. Lovely. It was at that moment that I wished I had wings. Even then I could fly away and flee the scene. But no wings appeared and I was sure to get caught.

So instead of running towards the castle I ran towards the back gardens, where I used to play. I had often seen little huts beyond the walls and wondered who lived there. As a young girl, I was told that faeries lived there, but I was about to learn otherwise.

I spotted a hole in the the wall, and was rushing towards it when a rough hand grabbed me. “ ’ere’s yor thief!” Said the man who belonged to the hand.

“ ’eh, it’s just one of them runts from over the wall. teach ’im a lesson ’e’ll neva’ forget!”

More about my adventure tomorrow...
