By the way, when and where will these be happening? I was thinking that London, New York, or some other big city would be good for having lots of crimes to solve, and anytime from the late 1800s (Sherlock Holmes' time!) to modern day, but I don't know what you guys think would be best.......

Hmmm, the late 1800s could work as a time period, but we could maybe time-travel in order to solve mysteries. How about we're modern-day detectives, but we time-travel in order to solve mysteries! And yes, we'll probably be in big cites, but nowhere in particular; it'll depend on what we're doing in order to solve the crimes. What do everyone else think?

I think something like New York, in modern day sounds fun!

Everyone, I am GIVING UP MY SPOT AS DETECTIVE! Ariadna Olivier shall retire and I shall henceforth play only the villains (because they get the best lines. :) )

So if anyone wants to take the seventh place, they can.

Is it too late to join? If not this is my application.

Character name: Amelia Jenners

Appearance: Tall, skinny, slightly dark skin, green eyes, black hair pulled into a pony tail, round face, often wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt unzipped with a green shirt and jeans

Strength: The ability to recognize faces easily and draw them as evidence, can see through any disguise

Weakness: Extremely socially akward, shy, bad under pressure

Weapon: Nothing but her skills, not a fighter by any means

Story: Her incredibly artistic parents left for Italy when she was four to establish a business to send her to college later as they were quite poor. They have not been able to return and Amelia, now 13, doesn't think they will ever return. She lives with her Grandfather who sends her to a poor public school. It was a summer day when she was drawing on the sidewalk that the agency recruited her. She still hasn't made friends with the others yet and doesn't think she ever will.

Here's my first villain profile; I might make another once this one's apprehended:

Name: David Welling

Age: 19

Appearance: Tall, black haired and blue eyed, cynical kind of face, handsome but in a rakish way, rides a motorcycle.

Strength: He can get anyone to believe him, even when he's lying through his teeth (he might even get one of the dectectives to sympathize with him!)

Weakness: Hmmm...he's not a planner, which can trip him up every now and again.

Weapon: Can he carry a revolver? If that's not too modern, then he will.

Story: He's an orphan, got kicked out of every school he went to, accidentally killed a man, and is now on the run. Needs to steal to keep himself alive. Typical bad boy.

What his crime will be I don't know, but I guess you guys can start throwing out senarios, and we can see what happens!

Bess Marvin opened the door to the detective agency, and stepped back in surprise. Today was the day when the new detectives were coming to live at the detective agency and help her on her cases. Only she hadn't expected quite so many to show up for the job.

One girl with short, dark hair and a pointy face and ears stepped forward. I noticed she wore black clothes.  I wondered whether or not that was a good sign.

"Hello," she said. "I'm Lucy Voelker. I was sent here after my parents died -" so that was why she wore black - in mourning! -"And so you must be Bess Marvin. I think I've met you once before, with my parents."

"Yes," I replied. "I'm Bess Marvin. Pleasd to meet you."

A short girl with beautiful brown hair introduced herself next as Fawn. She was a very sweet girl.

An elf-ish - looking girl said her name was Eve, and a girl with light brown hair introduced herself as Hazel Gemma Wells, "But you can just call me  H. G. Wells," she added.

A girl with ink-black hair introduced herself as Aspen Crevil. I took a special liking to her, after hearing about her stay at the horrrible orphanage.

A very shy girl named Donna (I called her Dan) Florence came next, followed by the bird-like Wren Lark and the tall Amelia Jenners.

"OK," I turned to them after they were done introducing themselves. "We will train while we wait for our first crime to solve."

Um, I actually meant for Aidan to be still living on the streets when the first crime happens, and she meets the others when she helps them, sorry if I wasn't clear enough on that subject.

Sooooo sorry, CaptianRead! I didn't quite get the memo there!

OK, everyone: Aidan/Dan is living on the streets, but when the first crime happens, she meets us and helps us.

CaptianRead, do you want her to live at the detective agency after we meet her?

David Welling was sauntering down Second Street, looking nothing more serious than a ne'er-do-well boy. A few people--mostly girls--turned to get a better look at him as he passed, and they saw nothing of the criminal on the handsome, youthful face. They didn't know what he was thinking, and wouldn't have believed it if they had.

What was he thinking? He was thinking that snitching cash here and there wasn't good enough. Pickpocketing doddering gentlemen and sweet-talking old ladies wasn't going to get him far enough. He wanted something grand and dramatic. He didn't have the patience to be a con man, but he was going to carry off a crime he felt was well enough within his scope. At 3:15, he was going to duck into one of those fancy shops on the corner and steal a pair of diamond earings.

He knew where he could sell them for a fancy price; living on the streets and meeting all kind of seedy people had led him to a pawn shop that did dealing in the underworld. He had already become close friends with Donna Florence, a girl who worked at the shop. He felt that, if she had wanted to dip into the life of crime, she could be a world class criminal. There was an affinity between the two of them that proved that knowing nothing about each others pasts is often more helpful to solidifying friendships than all the knowledge in the world.

It was 3:10. Time to get a move on.

~~~
Twenty minutes later, earings in hand, he was dashing for the pawn shop.
He couldn't believe how easy it had been. When the jeweler turned his back, after displaying the earings to what he thought was a man buying jewels for his sweetheart, David knocked the fellow on the head with a walking stick, and the diamonds were in his possession. He was feeling inordiantely proud of himself and unnecessarily virtuous--he didn't have to threaten or kill any party involved.
Donna opened the door to the pawn shop; she knew what was up. "Did you get them?" She asked, the innocence that should have been in her young eyes painfully lacking. As usual, her red hair was like a halo around her face.
"Oh, sure." He gave a breezy smile. "You know I always get what I'm after."
Okay, that sets things up a bit for CaptainRead's character!
