Chatterbox: Inkwell

Down.Down. T

Down.

Down. That's his life.

Down. That's her story.

Down. That's the one word that describes it.

Down.

Not up. Hopes are low.

Down.

Not to the very bottom.

Oh, no. Not there.

Just a little bit

Like a centimeter

From the hole.

Not just any hole.

A black hole.

A dark, black hole that goes...

Down.

It all goes back to

Down.

The only direction is

Down.

He can't escape from this terror of going

Down.

She can't sleep at night from the fear of falling

Down.

But the thing is

They don't know it yet

They're already doing it.

Is there a cure?

Is
there anything that can put an end to this constant suffering?

Yes.

A tiny glint of hope

An opening in this pit of sorrow

How do we go

Up?

One thing can do it.

And that's called

Thinking.

Yes, thinking.

Thinking before we speak.

Before we do.

Before we put someone else in an undeniably horrid position.

Open your mind and

Think.

Because whatever you say

Could be the domino

The first one to go down

It knocks down the next one.

And the next one.

And the next one.

There is no way to stop it.

Until at some point

Everything will be spilled over.

That one word

One phrase

One idea

Ruined someone's world.

Just think.

You could save a day.

A dream.

A life.

And then

One beautiful day

No one will be going, falling, tripping

Down

Anymore.

Stop bullying.

------------------

Okay. Well, um...I'm not actually exactly really quite sure why I put that out there. I wrote it one day...it was just supposed to be private, you know? Just some silly diary entry or whatever...but then I showed it to my friend and she told me to "put it out there," so...I did. I posted it on my Wattpad account, and then my mom wanted me to enter it in a contest because she thought it could help reinforce the fact that bullying needs to be stopped. So...then I posted it here. On the website of my absolute favorite magazine ever. Um...so...I'm not actually sure if there are any poetry contests going on, but I didn't know where to submit it, so here it is. I'm not sure what will happen now. Just saying - this poem came from my mind on the spot, and it hasn't been edited, so it's not perfect or anything. But...here.

I loved what you wrote! Absolutely amazing! I don't really have any words to describe it actually... I think everyone already said them ;)

And Maeve is a cool name! I looked it up and it means something like "cause of great joy". Well, you are, since you're a great person in or out of the CB. Also, high-five because we share not-so-common names. (My real name is Kyra if you didn't know so meep. Yeah, I tend to say meep I don't really know...)
