Civil War RP

Civil War RP

Is anyone interested indoing a civil war RP?

You could do things from a slave, master, abolitionist, or slave catcher's point of view.

Fun! I'll join! I'm homeschooled, and I just finished studying about the Civil War! We could make it about a white family, and the mother doesn't like slavery, but the father does. Is it okay if I do it from the point of view of the master's daughter ? I was thinking to make it like she's not sure if slavery is good or bad.

Yes, that is a wonderful character!

Oooh! This sounds like a wonderful idea, S.E.! I'm definitely interested!

@Bookbug: I like your idea. In addition to the family, we should definitely have some slaves involved. I wanted to write from a slave's point of view.

Can we start making characters?

I'm in! Could I be the daughter of a family who helps slaves on the Underground Railroad?

What state shall it take place in? That's kind of important for its geography and depending on how important it was during the war. A place like Louisiana might be interesting. I dunno, just a thought.

Alright! My character...

Name: Callista (Betty)

*Note: Callista is the character's birth name, and it is used in the quarters, but Betty is the name given to her by her master. So, Betty is the name that will be used by anyone Callista works for.

Position in Society: Slave

Age: 13

Appearance:  Medium height, dark and rough skin, raven black hair that is usually worn in a kerchief, eyes that sparkle like stars, wears a plain navy blue cotton dress with an apron, goes around barefooted

Personality: spunky, smart, creative, friendly, has a sense of humor

Other: Callista works in the master's house, and so she also works as a spy for a Northerner. She taught herself to read and write at a young age and is the only slave on the plantation to do so.

Here's my character.

Name: Melissa

Appearance: Long, blond hair in a fancy hairdo, brown eyes, chalky white skin

Personality: Snobby on the outside, but inside, she's unsure about herself and her family.

Ah yes, my character.

Name: Lynda Murphey

Age: 13

Appearance: Shortly cropped dirty blonde hair (the short hair helps her with disguises as necessary), brown eyes, ruddy cheeks and freckles. Average height, lithe figure, lightly tanned skin from being in the sun.

Position in society: Ordinary girl, daughter of a farmer. Her family isn't really wealthy, so she knows what it's like to have to save your pennies.

Personality: Fun loving, comedic, pleasant, yet can be very serious. Is also very straighforward and blunt. Doesn't shy away from telling people what she thinks and enjoys putting prissies in their place. Also can't stand for bullying. Is willing to get into physical confrontations over it (and has so numerous times). Somewhat of a tomboy.

Other: As said above, her father is a farmer. He owns quite a bit of land, though they own no slaves of course. Lynda's father and brothers are the ones to work it fairly and honestly. Lynda doesn't have a whole lot of friends, and doesn't talk about her personal life a whole lot, and never invites people to her house. It's because her family are members of the Underground Railroad. They often harbor slaves and smuggle them north to freedom. Lynda's very passionate about this, and often helps leads the slaves. That's why she keeps short hair, to transition from boy to girl as needed.

So when do we start?

My mind's been torturing me lately about this RP; slave or haughty slave owner daughter?

Name: Elizabeth Carder

Age:13

Appearance: Long, white-blond hair, gray-blue eyes, pale skin, light freckles on her nose, and high cheekbones. A few inches below average height, also slim, but an imposing figure, nevertheless.

Position in Society: Obviously, the side that was rooting for haughty slave owner daughter won.

Personality: Haughty, yet well-behaved. When she isn't being a good, well-behaved girl (in front of her mother and father), though, she will sometimes act spoiled, and will throw the occasional tantrum. Very good at persuading,

Other: She evidently a slave master's daughter, the only daughter. She has nine brothers, ranging in age from 20 to 9. I will make up their names later. I finished reading a "Betty's" profile, and I was thinking that Betty could be Elizabeth's personal slave? If you agree, of course, Teresa.

Um...guys, I don't think I can continue on this RP. Nothing personal, it's just that I'm already on two other ones, and it's kind of hard for me to remember all the names and stuff. I hope everyone here understands. My character can either drop our, or someone can take my place (Melissa is a slaveowner's daughter, by the way). Sorry. I really want to do this, but I just don't have enough time.Cry

That's fine! I can understand. We will start when we have all the postions (slave, conductor, slave owner, slave owner's wife, slave owner's daughter, abolitionist, and slave #2), the timing, the setting, and a storyline.

I can do whatever you need me to do! But my top choices would be slave #2 or a conductor. Which would you rather have?

And by the way, this sounds like a really cool story! I'm excited!

Slave #2 would be best.
