Riddles Hey

Riddles

Hey, guys! I know a lot of us here like to write, and at least a few of us like puzzles of sorts. So, here's the place for those of you who like to make up riddles and mind questions. Not like Weird Logic, but actually questions that should (or come close to) making sense.

So, if you want to write your own riddles and test them out, that would be great. Or, if you read a riddle somewhere that you really liked, post it here! I myself love mind games, and love trying to figure out riddles.

NOTE: Please, post the answer underneath the riddles, like a spoiler would be posted, so people won't read the answer before they figure out that the riddle is over.

I'll post mine later, after the thread is up, to avoid some confusion.

Oooh! I love riddles and mind games too, True! Let's see. These ones aren't my own, but they are from a stack of riddle cards I have.

1) They can be made, laid down, bent and broken, although it's difficult to touch them. What are they?

2) A carrot, a football scarf and five buttons were found in a field. If nobody placed them there, how did they get there?

3) Which would burn longer, a short fat blue candle or a  long thin spirally yellow one?

I'll post the answers to these in 3 days (if you want to comment answers, I'll tell you if you got it right.

*A man was driving when he came to a four-way cross. An old lady was crossing there, the man's headlights weren't on, and the moon wasn't full. How did the man see the old lady?

* What is at the beginning of every end, end of every time, and the end of every life?

* What happens when you throw a blue rock into the red sea?

I think the answer to riddle number three is this:

The rock floats. In the Red Sea, everything floats because there is tons of salt in the Red Sea.

Riddle Ticket:

1. It was daytime.

3. It makes a splash!

Also, if it's a four way cross, the man could have been driving on the street going north to south, and the lady could have been crossing to the opposite side of the street going east to west.

@Little Sister: That was a great one! I guessed wrong, but have heard it elsewhere (silly me!).

@ Teresa: I couldn't figure out either number one or two, but oh my goodness they were amazing. I would never have guessed. Number three I already knew, but it's a really good one.

@ Bookbug: That one is awesome. Neither Butterfly nor I could figure it out, but both of us loved the answer.

Here's one that neither Butterfly nor my LotR analysis class could get, but both had a few excuses. I made this one up myself, on a homework prompt to write your own Hobbit poem, and decided to go with a riddle. I've added two more that I've found and liked.

1) Faster than Hobbit, Man, or
Elf,

Faster than beasts or wind
itself.

More varied than leaves or
twigs on a tree

Its forms are as unique as
unique can be.

Known by all, understood by
few,

Comprehending the whole is
too much to do.

Hard to sum up in a word but
one,

Can't be seen or heard,
'till spoken by tongue,

Yet is always in motion, and
it never ceases.

Unless life itself has
shattered to pieces.

When one's unconscious of
time, it acts in strange ways

It never leaves one, but
helpfully stays.

The greatest ideas are born
from this thing

And soar through the air
like a bird on the wing.

Without such a thing, all
would wander away,

As dumb as a table, soon all
would decay.

This thing is everything,
without it we'd be naught.
(Note, the last word is supposed to be something else, but I've removed it and placed "nothing" there, so the rhyming doesn't give it away.)

2) Johnny's Mother had three children. The first was named April. The second was named May. What was the third child's name?

3) It's a dark and stormy night, when a plane full of passengers takes off from Berlin, Germany, on its way to Paris, France. Right smack dab on the border, the plane crashes. Half of it is on France, the other half is on Germany. So in what country do they bury the survivors?

ANSWERS DIRECTLY BELOW! READ AT OWN RISK!!!

1) .... This precious item is none other than Thought. (The last word of the next to last verse was suppose to be naught by the way.)

2) The third child of Johnny's mother is Johnny.

3) Well, the survivors won't have to be buried for a while. They can live a long and happy life.
