Chatterbox: Inkwell

DO ANY OF

DO ANY OF YOU CARE IF I LEAVE??

I found out that the old CBers think that "us newbies" have messed up the cb. I feel really bad, because they said the newbie rps are too fast. Also, they don't treat newbies like equals. Melody makes an rp? ALL the oldies join. I make a rp? NO oldies join. That's just what happens.

Ten comments from different people, and I stay.

Brookeira, I think someone was merely pointing out changes in Chatterbox over the last year or so. Some RPs may be faster than others, but the speed is up to the participants. Things are bound to change as people come and go, but anything we deem suitable for posting is welcome. That's life!

Just my point, oldies. See how some people feel? Anyway Brooke, STAY. Who cares what other people think?

There may always be some people who dislike you, and some who would love to be friends with you. Is the bad side everything? The bad side always seems more important, but think about it. If we always relied on the bad side, the computer, light bulb, and even the wheel may not even ever had gotten invented! "Oh, the wheel may damage something" "The light bulb may burn the house" "The computer will cost millions". Did these problems ever stop us? No. Stay on the bright side. We love you, Brooke, and if you choose to leave or not, we will always be there for you.

Think about the effect on other people, Brooke. We wouldn't have all of your fabulous rps in Inkwell if you weren't here! You are doing a great deal, and tons of CBers look up to you. Look at the bright side of things.

The bad side never helped us, even though it sounds helpful.

Please don't give up, please don't leave. If it helps, you aren't really such a newbie. You're newer than me. And being new isn't bad, either. In fact, it may be, in it's own way, good. You are someone who the newer people like me can look up too, but still relate to. You are someone who learns like the rest of us newbies, but who also can give sound advice. You are someone who can help us with many things like ranging from plot holes, school, and life, the universe, and everything. If it helps, I will threaten to send hot-pink bunnys after you if you leave. If it helps, I will start a debate club about Persuading Brooke E. To Stay. Please, stay.

On a totally unrelated topic, if anyone gets the refrences, you get a few cyber high fives.

Yes, I do care if you leave, especially if this is your reason.

Brookeira, the people who are new to the CB, don't mess up the CB. The CB is meant for everyone to share in RP's, books, the Cricket magazine and discussions. Being old or new to a site really doesn't matter. We were all new the the CB at one point, and we all know how it feels to be in a new place.

Don't feel bad about the RPs! It's actually really awesome that some of the RPs move fast. It's amazing how much fast and how much fun RPs can be, and all while practicing writing! The problem doesn't come with who makes the RP, it really comes down to the pace of it. I'm not sure about the rest of the older CBers, but I have been really busy with school, homework, dance and other life things since the school year started. I've had to limit my fun computer time down just to keep up with school. I don't have the time to write RPs every day, or even every week. The story can be hard to write for and follow if you only can be on once a week. When I was younger and on the CB, I was on a bit more and could write RPs way more often. Now, I limit my RPs and only choose the ones that are really interesting to me personally. Some people have a harder time writing fantasy, but really love mystery. We all have different writing styles and different things interest us. Things just change as you get older, but having a fast paced RP is not a bad thing; it's really cool!

So, maybe more people joined Melody's RP for the fact that it was interesting to them, and it was what they had time to write about. Either way, I don't really think it matters who writes on which RP. The point of this is to enjoy writing. As long as there are people to write with, it doesn't matter which people join the RPs.

I was really trying to stay out of this argument, but I sort of think that things have gotten out of control. When it became a fight against the "newbie" and the "oldie", I'm not actually sure. I do think though that people were just trying to reflect on the past. It was not meant to cause a fight. Like the Admin said, things do change when people come and go, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I suggest that we all move forward from this point on; it was just a misunderstanding. Everyone on the CB is special to this community, and I don't want anyone to leave because they feel that they aren't wanted. Y'all are wanted here. All of us make up this community, the CB family, and like all families, there are sometimes misunderstanding, disagreements and arguments. This is our argument. But like a family, we've got to reconcile with each other and just move on.

Of course I don't want you to leave! You're my Long Lost Sister, aren't you? As for the RP thing, I couldn't say, because I hardly like joining RPs at all these days, no matter who starts them... And though I created that thread on DtE, I never meant it to become a "newbie" attack thread, only to mourn the passing of the "oldies". I'm sorry if I ever said anything to offend you; I sincerely appreciate your energy and life and kindness on everyone you do on the Chatterbox!

Brooke, no one said that they hate the newbies or that you've messed up CB! I think that you're referring to the thread on DtE. I know that many of us were on the verge of a wild debate, that would really split CB apart. Look what it's doing all ready! I admit I took a large part of that debate. But I want to connect with the newer people, and help make this new part of CB a wonderful era, one we can all be proud of. We're all different. But we should be able to reconcile here. I want you to stay, Brookeria! I have no bitterness towards you. Nor to any of the other newer people. I want you to stay - I really do. You are a special person on CB. And without you CB will be a little more dull.

As for the RPs, well, so many new ones have popped up within the last month. Many of them. With so many RPs, getting a lot of people on an continuing RP is tough. I stopped myself in joining an RP because I was busy - I am looking for one now, one that I like the subject, and is not already started, because I don't want to make confusion by joining too late. I joined Melody's RP (which was a failure) because I liked the looks of it, and I was free for a moment. After that, I stopped hunting for one. I was busy with other things, and knew I couldn't devote myself to another one.

I'll make a confession; I was really frustrated with newbies in general less than a month ago. I would look at some posts with annoyance. But after reading through the thread on DtE, I realized that CB will never always be the same. And the newbies should be welcomed. They are a new part of CB. I was different than many CBers when I came on. But they accepted me kindly. I saw acceptance when JtSF and BHR came on - two notable appearances. They really brought a bit of excitement to CB, around the same time. They were wholeheartedly accepted. But now? We're being more distant to the newcomers. Because they write or speak a bit differently, have been branded as different - in a negative way. I saw this after reading the thread, and I realized what I have been doing. I don't blame many people from leaving CB because of this. Acceptance is a vital point of being part of a new group, I think. And if we don't offer it, then either there will be a mini-battle, CB will be a sadder and more desolate place, or we ourselves will leave. I'm sorry if any of us have hurt you, Brookeria. And I hope that you will stay.

Let me pose a question to CBers. Can you imagine CB without our newbies? No - not the CB with all of the old people back. I mean a current CB minus the new people. Only a dozen or so of us, at most, barely posting. Our newcomers have added to CB. CB can never always be the same. We have to make a difference sometimes. And I would rather that the newbies stay than they all go now. CB is a family - or a soup. We all add to the flavor, and without each one of us, it would be different - missing something. Then the cook adds a new flavor. Some people, not liking different, dislike the soup now. But when - and if - the cook takes the new flavor away, the people find the soup was better with the new flavoring. Please, consider. I think that the newbies have added to CB. I don't want to have them taken away. And I'm grateful that they came.

Of course we care if you leave!

I completely agree with True- without you newbies, the CB would be really slow. All of us oldies post so little nowadays the Chatterbox would pratically be dead without y'all. It just took us a while to adjust, because first the CB was quieter and slower, and then all of you come in and it was a pretty big change. But now, personally, I don't know what I'd do without you guys. You're all so awesome in your own way, both newbies and oldies.

By the way, I've been classifying myslef as an oldie, but I only joined in February, so am I new or old to the CB?

Please don't leave! I think I speak for everyone when I say that I in no way meant to say that you should leave, or that you guys messed up the CB! I don't have a problem with newbie, in fact you guys are who keeps this place alive!  Yes, there are certain aspects that are different, but I don't like it less! The only thing I don't like was when people would post spam (not you) that clutters up the CB.

Please stay! If you do decide to leave, I'll miss you!
