One-word topic stories!

One-word topic stories!

I was debating whether I should put this here or at CaC, but I chose here.

So, what you have to do is create a whole story based on one word! For example, if someone chooses "tree," the next person could type for their story:

I sat in my front yard, enjoying the peaceful summer air, when, a dog barked and sprinted toward me! I ran away, but he chased me. Luckily, there was a tree up ahead! I leaped up and grabbed hold of a branch.

Just then, the owner came. "Sorry, my dog's a little crazy."

I chuckled as I hopped down from the tree, stating, "You don't say."

The tree wasn't really the main object, but it did show in the story and was pretty important.

I'll choose the next word, which is:

blender.

I shove the bananas into the blender, eating my waffle carefully. There's pretty much no food in the house, and no one is home! Everyone is gone!... I'm so freaked out.

The blender beeps and I slurp down the milk shake. I nearly spit it back out as I notice a small UFO like thing in the distance. Well, now I know where everyone went . . .

And where I'm going now.

"No!" said my little brother, Clint. "No! I hate them!"
"Clint," said my mom, "just try them. You haven't had a dill pickle for two months."
"I WILL NOT! WILL NOT!" shouted Clint. I groaned and bit into my bagel.

It's just a bit of food, I thought. If you don't like it, just eat a piece of candy to stop up the flavor. No big deal.

But Clint just refused. He screamed and yelled and ran to his room, even burst into tears! But finally, my mom got awful serious.

"Cint," she said, "Just eat the pickle. It isn't hard. If you eat it, I'll give you a graham cracker."
That got Clint insterested. He loves graham crackers.

"Fine," he griped, snatching the pickle. He took a bite. Then another.

"Mm!" he said. "That's good!"

The word was Dill, right?

Ok, the next word is: Flower

I stand alone, utterly alone, on this barren wasteland that used to be earth. The warm wind ruffles my short blue hair, and blows around old packets of ChexMix and other bits of rubbish, their faded packaging the only color left on this planet besides brown and grey. I stoop an pick up an old plastic bottle, with the little paper-wrap-thing still intact. It's blue- garish, finger-paint blue, with poorly drawn pink and yellow flowers dotting the back.

I feel tears prick at the corners of my eyes. They warp my vision. If I look carefully enough, it seems for a moment as if the flowers are real. Then the tears becomes too much for my eyelid to contain, and it spills over, splashing on the bottle and interrupting my weak little fantasy. The small amount of liquid magnifies a few words, ever so slightly- just enough to bring them to my attention.

Sourced responsibly.

I break down, stooping on the trash-carpeted earth, and cry.

Then I see it. Poking out between a Snickers wrapper and a blue sandal.

A flower. A single, solitary, last bloom of the long lost species called a 'plant'. It doesn't look particularly healthy; it's small and colored a sickly red, that looks more like pink, and it has a petal missing. But it's all I need. I couldn't ask for more.

I crawl towards it, and lay down next to it. I want this to be the last thing I see.

Bet you didn't expect something so dark for a word like flower! Hehe . . . Sorry, I swear, I'm not the least bit dark in person! At all! I even surprised myself . . .

For the next word, how about something like-

Grandparent?

I close my eyes, my hands on his head. I must save him. I must save my grandparent. His small body pumps air in and out, and I watch his gray eyes with gloom.

"Honey, I'm okay," he whispers. I shake my head.

"No. I must do something," I whisper a magic word but he grabs my hand.

"It will kill you. Don't do it," he urges. I frown and keep on.

"Ascifer! Meronka! Rentyinkt! Hensifon!" I craddle my arms, feeling my life draining out of me. But then something terrible happens.

"Jeikenquin." My granddad smiles and stops me. Stops me from saving him.

No.

"No!" Voices in my head urge me to save him, to do something. I hug my granddad, the only thing I can do.

Goodbye.

"Goodbye," I whisper.

What is the next topic word?

I will use "goodbye" then.

I slam the heavy door shut, and am emmideatly greated by Spanish music. Okay, let me back up,

My brother goes to this class where there are little kids and they learn Spanish because it is a Spanish class and they each have CDs which teach them Spanish words through songs.

Enough info already!

So you can probably get my mood, as I am sitting in our 12-passenger van, listening to Spanish music. I would not be this irritable, except I was bringing stuff to do a science fair project at my school playground. On top of that I had a drama class rehearsal until 5:30, and I was just rushed out the door.

" Goodbye!" Dad calls into the window.
