STORY IDEAS!

Alright, we're all authors here. And this is the perfect place to share your ideas! And then we can, you know, give tips and helpful feedback and such.

I'll start. Guys, my friend's dad has invited me to write a story for him. He's going to make a story disc for kids. But I can't get an idea for a plot. Any suggestions?

Tips:

1. KEEP A DIARY.

I started a diary a couple of years ago and it is now jam-packed with games, be they video games or board games, thoughts on my life, characters, prompts, lanuages, worlds, inventions, metaphors, things I liked about stories, ect.

2. DON'T RUSH THE CREATIVE PROCESS.

One story which is among my mental top five most promising stories started out as the worst idea ever and it is my No. 1 plot. How did it evolve? I gave it time. Lots of time. It has been my ongoing project for about a year.

3. IF YOU HAVE WRITER'S BLOCK, DON'T TRY TO MAKE YOURSELF WRITE.

Go for a walk. Do your homework. Feed your dog. Read.  JUST DON'T WRITE. I would suggest doing this for a day or two (sometimes it may take a week). You won't be so stuck, and your mind can wander and then wander back to writing and have some good ideas. (Scratch that. I don't know how it works. But I do know it works for me.)

4. HAVING TROUBLE FINISHING A STORY: PLOT IT OUT, DO THE MOST FUN PARTS, THEN CONNECT THE DOTS.

So say you're stuck on this one scene. Can't figure out what happens next. Skip ahead a bit, then roughly plot the next chapter or so. Write the fun parts of the chapter, then connect the dots and return to the scene you were stuck on. Think on it for a bit, look at at it with a fresh view, see if you have any ideas.
