ALL NEW POETRY

Chatterbox: Inkwell

ALL NEW POETRY

ALL NEW POETRY CLUB!!!!!!!!

Okay, I started one a long time ago, but that one died, and then I started yet another one, and THAT ONE DISAPPEARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This time, I am confident my thread will not disappear or die.

So here's how it'll go. If you join, you'll vote between these random three poets: Robert Frost, Edgar Allen Poe, or Emily Dickinson. You must vote for ONE OF THESE, though you may, ALONG WITH YOUR VOTE, suggest nominees for the next time we vote (which wont be too far away).

If you dont know any of these poets, just vote for a random one or go with the majority.

Once we have voted for a poet, I will present some of their poems and discuss them a and explore their meaning, and at some point, I'll give you a prompt related to the poem, and we may write our own poetry inspired by the poems.

Oh, and can we have someone to be a "Word Wizard" and look up words you thinkwe wont know.

I cant wait to start!

I vote for........R-no, I vote for Edgar Allen Poe!

@Sydney C: That's okay, no need to feel awkward in this club! I haven't had the experience, but I've written some pretty convincing poems... I get the idea from all the books and poems I read.

I like the idea of your poem, and the rhyming around losing and waiting...

I vote for Barbara Groce.

I've never heard of her until now, but I looked up some of her poetry and it seems interesting.

Ok, sorry I haven't been posting any poems for the poem prompts, but I've been having writer's block on my poems for a while now. So, introducing my poem for the Annabel Lee prompt poem!

Love at First Sight

He looked at me, I looked at him

He smiled at me, I smiled at him

He cracked a joke, I laughed nervously

That's when we knew, together perfect we'd be.

My friends said no, but I said yes

For I knew in a moment, that he was the best

He visited me, and I visited him  <!--break-->

He talked to me, I answered him

He danced with me and we had lots of fun

That's when I knew that he was the one.

But then one day, he stopped coming.

The joy of my life was gone from me.

I missed his jokes, his laugh, his smile

but it seemed, he forgot me after awhile

So is there really love at first sight?

My heart told me so, but my mind said not right.

Next time I'll think before I fall and crush,

For now I know, true love won't rush.
