Storm RPIn a

Storm RP

In a small town on the edge of a cliff, life is normal except for one thing. The town is surrounded by a perpetual swirling thunderstorm. The storm never moves, and never changes in intensity. The town itself has fine weather, but move a few kilometers in any direction and you'll surely die.

No one knows why the storm is there, and no one knows when the storm started. Even the oldest residents were born during the storm, and they know just as much about it as the children do.

The town is fueled by coal, and there is an entrance to a coal mine in the side of the cliff. Workers use a pulley system to get to and from the mine.

We are all residents of the town in this RP. What do you guys think? Is it a good idea for an RP? Maybe we'll find an opening in the storm and somehow explore the outside world and  learn the origins of the town. Maybe someone from the outside world will come to us, or we'll get attacked by strange creatures from within the storm. Anyway, here's a character sheet

Name

Age

Appearance

Personality

Occupation (yes, even kids have jobs in this town. They would probably be jobs found in an 1800s town. Coal miners is the most obvious choice.)

Cat-

A dark, candlelit room, smelling of smoke.

Cat stumbled and was pushed to her knees, a blade to her back and her face pressed against a table.

"Stop screaming!" a woman yelled. "We only need a little!"

Cat remembered a blade pressing into her back, then the images were splintered.

Blood in a vial.

Red robes.

A blue lightning bolt arcing up from her blood into a crystal blue sky.

Storms.

And a book.

Those were the only memories she'd pieced together through her whole life.

I have decided to drop out of this, because it's not really my type of thing.

@Hermione Granger I understand.

@Brookeira That was interesting! No idea what it meant, but interesting nonethless!

I just want to provide some information on how the town works. It's actually a lot larger than I made it sound. There is a garden and an orchard on the roof of the town hall, the biggest building in town. They grow apple trees, tomatoes, corn, etc., and have different seasons for harvesting each plant. They get water from an underground spring. They also raise cattle and chickens on a ranch, using their meat, milk and eggs as food, and they also eat the occasional fried snake. Their gear is made from metals in the mine, and they build houses out of mostly wood. Yes, there are trees. As for their clothing, it's been handed down for generations. No one remembers how to make it.

With that out of the way, I guess I'll continue.

Henry~

Deep into the caves I go. As the sounds of dripping stalactites, pick axes chipping away at stone, and echoey shouts of the miners fill my ears. I quickly make my way northwest, towards the spring, where my father's apparently waiting for me. When I get there, he's standing with his back to me, facing the steadily flowing stream of water.

"Pa?" I pant.

The man turns around, his face illuminted in the dim light from my headlamp. "So, you finally showed up, did ya?" he says in his gruff voice.

"What did you want?" I ask impatiently

My father grins. "Well, they found something new."

"Something... what?"

"They found something new. Something that's not coal."

Name: Edmund Kenway

Age: 20

Appearance: Messy, long, light brown hair, and a bit scrawny for his age. Has big brown eyes and probably some oil stains here and there. Usually wears brown work boots, pants and a vest, with a sky blue shirt, rusty goggles, and a red bandana around his neck. (Plus a wrench!)

Personality: Loyal, humorous and clever. Usually says the steps out loud when he's fixing things, even if he's alone.

Occupation: Pulley mechanic

There ya go!

Edmund~

I tighten the last nut and then slowly raise the rope to my harness and lower myself down. The cables had been loose for a while, and the miners couldn't transport coal, so they had to stockpile it. A surplus of fuel should be coming out of the cliff as soon as I signal the mines. I pull a green flag out of my belt, and wave it in the air. The pulley operator, Smith, gave a similar wave.

I turn around and start back towards the town. Suddenly, a deep, menacing rumble emits from the cliff, and I'm knocked to the ground by what feels like an earthquake. I get up and squint towards the mines, and Smith is no longer there. I turn around and dash back towards the town, when another boom quakes through the ground...
