Chatterbox: Inkwell

THIS IS NOT A RP. This is a story where you ask to be in it and I write it.

It is the year 2120. Cloning has become common practice for the upper middle class and higher. None of the children know why they do it, but they always do.

Keira is a clone of a girl named Tayi (note: Tayi is not based on a cber.) and is treated like a daughter. The only difference is that Keira's genes were altered to make her healthy, but Tayi has a brittle bone disease.

Keira has always wondered why, whenever a problem occurs with Tayi, it is fixed overnight.

When Tayi's heart starts having problems and Keira's arm survives beign run over by a truck, Keira discovers the horrifying secret behind the mass cloning procedures...

If you would like me to write you into this story (yes, I know, too many threads on the inkwell, my apologies) please give me your name (no last name), appearance, and three-four words that describe your personality.

NO MORE THAN FIVE MAINS. I will wait until there are two pages of applications then decide who is in the story randomly.

I will start in a few days.

Maybe they're related. Maybe they're unrelated. You'll see.

Why HAd she Thought SHE could just go buy a cheesecake like a normal person?

well, itt haD gOnE Superbully. wait, No, That was wrong. oh, Kurse spelliNg.

Oh, Wait, that was Wrong tOo. ugh, Nevermind That. sHe needed help, UbeR-fasT.

sHe just wantEd to Run to the store, for goodness sake.

It had started this way: Her Original had called her into the living room.

"Danie!" she'd sung, in her perfect little voice, "Can you be a dear and run to the store? I'm sorry I can't, but if we want to go to Perfect Pairs Beauty Pageant, my hair has to be untouched by wind. Mommy said."

At this her Original sighed dramatically, and Danie rolled her eyes.

"If it's okay, no cheesecake," said her Original.

Danie smirked. She was going to get a cheesecake now, for sure.

She'd never let her family on about her love of cheesecake, because they'd buy it for her and then she'd have no excuse to shoplift it.

She put on her cracked leather gloves and walked quickly to the store.

It was a beautiful day in Stormlight City; the sky was the color of a robin's egg, and the trees were a deep violet. Her Host mother always said that was because of pollution, but Danie liked the colors of the trees. They matched her left eye, which had mysteriously turned violet one night three years ago.

As she was walking, she heard voices arguing down an alley. One was chillingly robotic; the other belonged to J.R.

She approached the alley slowly, like a fly wrapped in a spider's web.

She heard a loud crash, like metal, and bolted in.

Only J.R was there, lying unconscious on the ground. The owner of the robotic voice was gone.

A little girl born in the dark. Danie. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.

You're surprisingly perceptive!

NEW MINIPISODE, MORE TOMORROW! Toppity top!

Lindsey woke up and stretched. The sky was blue through her window and the sun shone like a lighthouse beacon.

She walked to the mirror and brushed her short blonde hair. Something nagged at the back of her mind. She seemed to have a distant memory of brushing her hair, and it was brown and curly...

Nevermind. Silly dream.

J.R was shaking-no, wait, someone was shaking her. She was nervous, but couldn't grasp why... something had happened...

"Hey! Jay-O! Wake UP!"

Something hard and stiff hit her face, and she woke up with a start.

Danie, the rebellious mechanic, had just slapped her. J.R growled and slammed her fist into Danie's head. Unfortunately, the brunt of her attack was taken by Danie's goggles, but Danie still yelped and fell on her side.

J.R snarled and jumped on Danie, who fought back with only defensive moves. "Gedoffame!" Danie yelled, "WHY WERE YOU IN AN ALLEYWAY WITH A ROBOT?"

J.R froze. "A robot?" she raised her eyebrows but froze. She remembered a dark figure, and a voice like metal...

"Yeah, or the duse sounded like one at least," Danie said, shoving J.R off and standing, "anyway, I have to get a cake. I'm getting a cheesecake. Wanna come?"

"Sure," J.R surprised herself, "why?"

Danie rolled her eyes. "I got caught hacking the Terachrome Atlas, so mom's making me enter Perfect Pairs Beauty Pageant as punishment."

"I have to go, too," J.R said ruefully, "J.D would throw a fit if I didn't."

"Cheesecake, then?" Danie asked, "The library cafeteria has one."

J.R paused, then smiled. "Sure. Cheesecake."

Heh. This is in reply to the part where it says "what she doesn't know won't hurt her":

I have an absolute love for cheesecake, and my sister hates it. Ironic, hm?

I'M BACK!

Lindsey smiled and kept brushing her short blonde hair when Hione burst in.

"Linds!" she screeched, practically bowling Lindsey over, "OUR HAIR!"

"What do you mean?" yelled Lindsey, "It looks great!"

"Mom cut it!" Hione looked ready to burst into tears, "I LIKED our hair brown and long and curly and I thought YOU did TOO!"

Lindsey shook her head. "I don't know what you're talking about," she sighed, "this is what our hair has looked like. Always."

Hione's lip quivered. "B-but our eyes..."

Lindsey looked in the mirror. Both of her eyes were the silky blue of the summer sky. One felt heavy, and seemed slower than the other. It almost seemed to flicker.

Something in the back of Lindsey's mind begged her to listen, telling her that something was very, very wrong.

But that part of her mind found itself unable to reach her. Something blocked that memory.

"Yes. They look beautiful today," Lindsey said, surprising herself with her own coldness.

Hione's now-blue eyes overflowed and she burst into tears. "Linds!" she screamed, "what is WRONG with you?!"

"Wait here," snapped Lindsey, feeling strangely cold inside, "I'm going to get mother."

Lindsey walked out of the room, the nagging emotion at the back of her mind squelched.

In Lindsey's room, Hione shook her head. "Something's wrong," she whispered, "very wrong."
