Chatterbox City RP!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Chatterbox City RP!

Chatterbox City RP!

This rp was originaly created by Somebody. All CBers and AEs live in a city. In the center of the city is the Admin's building, where the Admins live. You don't have to live in a house- you could have a castle or cave or secret HQ, and all of us have to team up to save the city from evil forces, glitches, rainbow unicorns, or any other major threat. There is also a Starbucks, a Krispy Kream Donut Shop, and an HUGE library. You can add more buildings if you like.

I live in a giant mechanical castle, with a moat and everything. There are lots of secret passageways, which I can control with my computer room in the basement. The castle is part stone and part metal and glass.

P.S.-- In the first Chatterbox City, there was an orb in the Admin's building called The Cosmic Orb Of  Creativity And Imagination that basicaly held the city together. Should we use that or not?

The Admins would very much like to have a castle. We're putting in a request for a castle! :D -Admins.

Katydid~

"Now what is this?" I ask, throwing miscellaneous items behind me out of a chest. Unlike most objects, they stay there, moving backwards slowly and eventually just hovering in the air. I pause and look at the clock-contraption, its gears moving in different ways because of the gravity. Or should I say no gravity? I shrug and toss the clock behind me and return to my digging. "Eureka!" I exclaim, jumping up and hitting my head on the round ceiling, only to bounce off it with a giggle.  "Anti- gravity is so fun," I snickered, floating down and pushing all the items over the floating chest. Then, with a smile and a laugh, I clapped my hands. The gravity shut off and I fell a few inches, landing on the floor with a thud, which was quickly followed by some obtrusive sounds. I wince and walk over to the chest, shutting it.

"Glad that's over," I remark, sticking the book under my arm and wiping my hands. "Now off to the Library!" I turn and run toward the door, shuddering as my weight changes and I float in the air. One could never quite get used to that feeling, I decide. I swim, float, whatever you would call it, down to the bottom, pushing aside a few bubbles.

"I'm headed to the Library!" I call out. Grasshopper reponds with a grunt and I shrug, pushing the button which would zap me to the ground.

Air~

I wake up in the morning and immediately open my curtains. From the height of my treehouse, I can see all over Chatterbox City: the Admin's castle in the distance, with the flag with the black cricket on it; the sunny marshes of Down To Earth, where seagulls are walking around on the peaceful beach; the silver-wood forests surrounding the city, where some say there are fairies, caves, and even mythical creatures.

I still think I've got the best real estate, though: a treehouse right between Blab about Books and the Inkwell. And the library is just a zipline away--

Wait. Something's wrong.

Usually there's a crowd of CBers around the library and the Inkwell, and today's no different. But... I see a hovering cloud of Wi-Flys, the pesky guardians of the Inkwell and library. Usually they just stay in the library. I wonder what's wrong?

Then I hear the buzz of a Wi-Fly much closer. It's coming up my zipline towards my windows. I hate to close my curtains, but I yank them closed anyway: Wi-Flys are much more annoying than a bit of darkness. Anyway, nothing much can be wrong: this is Chatterbox City, the most awesome place in the world.

I shake off my feeling and instead change clothes into my usual black leggings, colorful t-shirt, and sky blue hoodie. I braid my hair over my shoulder and scatter some corn on my front porch for my chickens. Finally, I'm climbing the ladder to my roof to check on my solar glass skylight, when I see somebody's already up there.

Dun dun dunnn!

l'm s'posing that l'm that creepy person that Abigal mentioned.....

Phantom~

Closed?  Well this certainly complicates things.

l stare blankly at the screen of the laptop, perched upon a pile of dust, thick, books.

Closed....l can't do anything now, all my careful research and planning, and l can't do a thing for it, can't even get any information....Wait.

Aha! Information! What l can do? Spy. l jump up, knocking over another pile of books, then dash over to the window to survey the area. There's no one in sight. l crack open the door and slip out, nearly triping over something, or someone.

Somebody~

"Czky," says Fruity.

"Chichichi," Prism adds.

I lift my head, relaizing that my pets are hovering at the door. Do they want me to follow?

"Yeah, just... give me a minute... or an hour," I say.

"CHI!"

"Fine... wait, IS SOMETHING BURNING?!"

Prism makes a series of "chi" sounds that resemble "That's what I was trying to tell you!"

I jump out of bed and run to the kitchen in my mismatched pajamas, where Volcano Flame, with her hair down, and C4 have the kitchen on fire. Volcano and Shifting Sands are both in pajamas-- Volcano's mismatched like mine, and Shifting's a Victorian nightgown-- and are yelling and trying to deal with the fire. C4 and Volcano are trying to fan the flames, while Shifting Sands and Halo are screaming what sounds like Latin swears at them.

"Watch your non-corporeal mouth, Shifting!" I call, as I whack Volcano over the head. "Get us a fire extinguisher."

"BUT--" Volcano tries to interject.

"No. Fire extinguisher."

Shifting does so, the flames are put out, and I get my nanobots to work on the partially destroyed kitchen.

"That's it. Starbucks," I say. "Go get changed, all of you."

"Yes, get changed, Volcano Flame," Shifting says, snapping her fingers and wearing her lacily-sleeved dress as usual. She summons a non-corporeal hairbrush and begins brushing her non-corporeal hair.

Volcano runs off after sticking her tongue out in Shifting's direction, with which Shifting responds with her favorite phrase, "IMBECILE!!!"

~~~
After we get changed and Volcao's hair is satisfactorily styled, we start the trip into town. The outskirts are quiet, but that means we have a ways to go. Volcano is deep tunneling, Shifting's phased and is probably there eating a non-corporeal crossaint already, and I'm cruising there on my hoverboard, Fruity on my shoulder. Halo, C4, and Prism are all flying.
Then someone goes ahead and trips over me before I figure out what went on. The second I realize, I shout, "Hey!"
"Apologies," says the figure, before running off.
"Fruity, go ahead," I tell my CAPTCHA, and gun my hoverboard, following the figure.
"MIRIS, identify!" I shout.
My faithful computer system shows up and says, "Identity not found. Emmiting Chatterboxer energy signature."
I remember my telekinesis and grasp the figure by the hoodie, a little disappointed that it wasn't a certain Hornet.
The figure is clearly caught off guard.
Shifting~
Are non-corporeal crossaints not wonderful?
I feed bits to my pet cloud, Halo, who happily consumes them with a trilling sound similar to the chirping noise of Prism not far from me. C4 and Volcano arrive at the same time. I scowl as I see my counterpart.
"Hello, Volcano Flame," I say icily, taking a ladylike bite of crossaint.
"HIIIIII!!!" shrieks the pyromaniac.
"Have you seen Somebody and Fruity? They should be here by n--"
"iavv!"
"Fruity?" I ask. Where's Somebody?
"Iavv undn mzbc!" Fruity insists.
"I have undone... spatula!" shouts Volcano.
"I have upsetting news," I correct her. CAPTCHAtongue is misleading occasionally.
"ypdy."
"Somebody? What about her?"
"nond."
Ugh. MY CAPTCHA isn't great, but eventually I get out of Fruity that Somebody was chasing after a hooded figure that had tripped over them.
Seriously, that girl is going to get killed in her "quest for knowledge".
It's 11:30 am. I just woke up, and I'm hungry. One reason I'm glad I joined Chatterbox City is that I have a whole house to myself. I bounce down my trampoline stairs, and go get a doughnut. Or 2. Or 3. Meh, nobody's watching just eat the whole box. Lalala. Doodadoo. Havin' a perfectly normal morning.
"Oy!" l shout at the unexpected force that suddenly grabs me. l am releasted, and l fall to the ground. l roll over and sit up, glaring at the girl who is standing nearby.
"Wot ever 'appened to common civility?" l stand up, making sure that the hood is still hiding my face. Second rule of spying: Always fake an accent.  "You can't just go 'bout tripping people up-"
"My computer coudn't identify you." She says, flatly.
"So wot? Does it really matter?" If l keep her talking for long enough, l can plan my escape.
"Well, yes, it might just."
l glance around nervously.
Than an low growl vibrates that ground.
Abigail:
St. Owl sets a quick pace as we hurry through the streets toward Danie and Squeak's gamestop. I have to jog to keep up.
"MIRIS, identify!" A voice shouts from the next street over.
"Hey, that's Somebody!" St. Owl gasps. This is followed immediatly by a robotic voice I can't here, then an "Ahhhh!", a crash, and a male voice mutters, "Ow."
"What in the world is going on?" I whisper, creeping around the corner. Somebody is standing over a figure on the sidewalk. He scrambles to his feet and begins talking in an Australian accent.
"That's the guy I met outside the Inkwell!" I hiss into St. Owl's ear. "Come on!"
We start forward onto the street just as the prone figure gets up and dusts himself off.
Suddenly a low rumble wiggles the ground under my feet.
"Earthquake!" I cry, hitting the dirt.
"Th-th-ere are no earthquakes in Ch-ch-atterbox City! It's an imagined p-p-lace!" St. Owl gasps over the growling earth, the bouncing making her speech stutter. She loses balance and grabs onto a oak tree.
Meanwhile, I see Somebody reach for a bush for balance, and the mysterious CBer stands up and makes a break for it, running teeterdly down the street. Somebody tries to aim her telekinesis at him, but the ground is shaking so hard she misses and uproots a hydrangea bush instead.
"Catch... him..." St. Owl cries. "Must..."
"This is crazy!" I shriek. "What is going on?"
Suddenly the shaking stops and a long dark shadow falls over the town...
Volcano
Shifting and I dash out of the Starbucks, tailed by ythe pets, as soon as the ground starts shaking.
"Can't you stop it?!" snaps Shifting.
"No!" I shout.
"Have you even tried?!"
I... haven't.
I take a breath, and then align myself with the seismic activity, but then realize...
It's not natural!!!
"DRAT!!!" I yell.
"CAN. YOU. STOP. IT. OR. NOT?!"
I think I can, actually!
I calm the shaking a little, but not much. Then I sense what's causing the disurbance-- a stone pillar of some sort. Enchanted somehow.
Whoever enchanted that pillar didn't bother making it terrakinesis resistant!
It comes out of the ground, jutting out of the ground on the outskirts of the city, not far from our HQ. It casts a long dark shadow over the town.
"SORRY!!!" I yell.
Somebody runs up to the Starbucks, yelling, "HOLY COW!! I have to study th--"
"Somebody the Vibrant of the Electricity Realm, you are going to get KILLED in your 'Quest for Knowledge.'"
Shifting's snapped remark bounces off Somebody entirely. "I have to study that pillar thing!!! IT was causing the quake, right?! You two go check on the Orb, I'm going to do some research!"
"What about breakfast?! AND THE HOODED FIGURE?! WHAT IF IT'S A CERTAIN HORNET?!"
"Just a new CBer, and breafast is a trifle compared to SCIENCE!!!"
Somebody runs off, leaving us to go to the Admin Castle and check on the Orb.
Oh, I'm so sorry Somebody and Co, I wrote my thing after yours was written but before it was posted. Let's have the earthquake-thingy be what you said, but Ookz and Critic A still accidentially get into the library and the thing with Danie's note still happened.
Ookz says, gett! He wants to get to the part in the story when he is the hero!
Critic A:
Humph. Abigail thinks she can just stick the boring duties with me while SHE gets to play and have fun all over CB! As I sulk, chasing Ookz around, I hear a voice outside the cave door.
"Critic A!" Oh, Feather's here! Great! I deactivate the laser system and allow her to enter. She sits down in an armchair and takes out an enormous grammar book. Just as she opens the cover, the ground begins to shake.
"What's that?" Feather squeaks, her book sliding off her lap. Our furniture skids to and fro across the floor. "Owmt!" Ookz cries in terror, hopping toward the cave entrance. I dive for him, but he hops out and down the streets of the Inkwell.
"Ookz! Get back here!" But I can't walk with all this shaking. Suddenly the shaking stops and a dark shadow begins to cover the town.
"What's that?" Feather asks, gathering her books and stuffing them back into her bag.
"It's-it's- An industrial thread!" I gasp. "A thread created by the Admins to be displayed to all CBers, to be only used in greatest emergency!!!!" I watch as the huge thread rises above the city and displays the words:
THE INKWELL LIBRARY IS CLOSED. DO NOT GO WITHIN 100 FEET OF IT.
"How is that possible?" Feather asks nervously. "The library—Closed? But it's supposed to always be open..." She continues but I don't hear her.
I glance at the library, within view of our cave. Right on time, I see Ookz hopping under the caution tape around the library and into the doors. "Ookz!" I shout, running after him. I have no choice. Taking a deep breath, I duck under the tape and follow him in...
Abigail:
"Well, I guess we don't have to tell Danie about that after all." St. Owl remarks.
 Just then, my Chatter-Cell rings. "Hello?" I answer it.
"It's Danie!" I tell St. Owl and Somebody.
Her voice is tinny on the other line. "You left me a note saying the Inkwell was closed, right? How did you know that before the Industrial thread?"—I hear paper rustling—"It says...that it's from St. Owl, too."
"We didn't send you any note!" I say. "We WERE going to tell you, but got held up..."
"Who sent it then?" Daine says. "And how did they know you were coming?"
"I don't know..."
"Well, meet me at our Gamestop in five minutes. We have some things we need to discuss..."
I shut the Chatter-Cell and turn to St. Owl. "I guess we're going to Danie's after all."
Shadow~
l peer down on the city below me, then curl up on a warm rock to sleep. Thought l might've heard something. Thankfully not, as you never want to meet a dragon who has been rudly awoken. Now l can go back to sleep-AHHH WHY IS THAT MOUNTAIN FALLING?
l jerk awake and scramble out of the way as the mountain above me starts to slide......The ground rumbles beneath me as l take off from the ground, flapping higher and higher until l can look on all the city.
A slideing mountain. A stone  pillar. A messege in the sky. Rumbleing.
l spril down to land in a street, then fold up my wings. Where to start? Oh right, let's go to Inkwell.
Dragonrider~
I wake up to the noise of wind in the trees, and crickets chirping. The sun is just coming up, so instead of going back to sleep, I go outside and climb into my treehouse. I lie on the porch, watching the beautiful sunrise. When the sun is fully up, I  go back to my house and grab my book: Wings of Fire, The Hidden Kingdom. I sit in my window seat, and read for two hours straight. I completely forget about breakfast, until my stomach rumbles. Or at least I think it's my stomach, until the grumbling turns into shaking. The ground rumbles and shakes, with the force of a mini earthquake. Turgon scampers through the front door, dripping wet, he had just gone swimming in the lake. He dove under my bed.
"WHAT'S HAPPENIIIING!!!!!!!"  he yells.
"I don't know, but I'm gonna go find out."I say, grabbing the huge piece of driftwood that I keep by the door. and brandishing it like a sword, looking a lot braver than I feel.
As I step outside, the shaking stops, and the sky darkens. I walk down my cobblestone pathway and reach the dirt road. I walk down, and get to the Chatterbox Central Circle, where, there are five streets going to the five main Chatterbox sections. There's also a little tiny airport with small planes going the This Month section. The first person I see is Katydid. I run up to her.
"Do you have any idea what's going on?" I ask, anxiously.
"I heard that the library was closed," she said worriedly.
"WHAT" I yell. "how could the library be closed?" I ask.
"I don't know, it must be an emergency," Katydid tells me.
And just like that, my day goes from great to terrible.
