Megan and Annie

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Megan and Annie

Megan and Annie are doing a Historical Fiction story.

Rules:
1. No fighting.
2. No taking over the story.  Work it out with your partner so you can both do the story equally.
3. Keep the story PG.
4. GloWorm says to always keep to your genre, but I disagree: if you really want to, change genres.
Thank you very much! :)

Hmmm... I don't think I've read Tamora Pierce.

Adawna angrily swiped at the treacherous tears that blurred her vision as she packed her leather knapsack back at her hometree.  Why does it have to be Lorei?  She cried out in her mind.  I could live with a Korlian, or even another of J’Hartha, but of all the members of their tribes, I get stuck with Lorei!  The elders know of our animosity, so why did they pair us when they know that we will just kill each other before the end of the moon-month?
Adawna gave in to her misery and sank down on to her bed and wailed into her moss coverlet.  Then her mother, Silva, walked into her room.
"Oh, Adawna," her mother murmured, stroking her daughter's hair. "You, of all people, have no reason to cry.  You have been given a great honor.”
Adawna sat up, eyes blazing.  “Honor?  Honor?  Is it an honor to be paired with the most stubborn, pig-headed, cruel and mindless elf in all of Gladell?  Tell me how that is an honor, Mama!”
Silva sat down next to her daughter, stroking her hair.  “Did you ever that it might be that the Council is trying to kill two birds with one stone?”
Adawna was confused that her mother would use such a cruel wording.  Why would anyone want to kill a harmless bird, let alone two?
Her mother saw her confusion.  “I only meant that figuratively, my dear.  What I meant to say is, what if the Council not only thinks that you could find the cure, but also repair your relationship with-”
“I don’t want to hear about it!” Adawna screamed.  She was tired of people mentioning her old feud with Lorei, and never even thought about their even older relationship.  (You see, when someone is hurt deeply by something or someone, they either do one of two things: They get over it and go on with their lives, or they never forget it, but choose to lock it away in their minds, never to think about it again.  Adawna had done the latter.)  Adawna then said, “I’m tired, and I need my sleep, for we leave tomorrow.  Please go away.”
“Okay, but you know that you will have to face it sometime.”  Silva left the room, and Adawna wept herself to sleep.

Annie?  I've been trying not to worry, but it's been almost a month since you last wrote.  Okay, maybe that's an overexaggeration, but not a big one!  Please come back!

I'm really, really sorry, Megan. I assumed you'd abandoned me for the summer, and stopped checking this thread. *puppy dog face* Forgive me?

Sorry, sorry.  Lost track of time, and then I had my Girl Scouts trip.  I'm here, and forgive you.

((Yay!))

Lorei packed while sitting by her mother, making comments about what she was bringing. "Do you think I should bring my dagger?" "I don't know if I'll need this, what do you think?" A deathly silence followed each one of her remarks, and she paused once every few minutes to wipe the perspiration off of her mother's forehead. Eventually her comments changed subject. "Mother, I am to go on the journey with Adawna. Adawna D'esria, of the Valya." She finished packing, sighed, and kissed her mother on the forehead. She picked up her hawthorne staff and her warrior's bow and set off, with one last fond look at her mother.

First off, sorry I didn't get back sooner.  I'm being a horrible partner, and I'll try harder.  If necessary, I will write on a Post-it: Don't Forget Annie! and slap it on my forehead before I go to sleep.

Secondly, critique.  Good, but maybe a bit more.  Like, explain how this makes Lorei feel, seeing her mother like this.  And, wasn't her mother in the sick bay or something like that?  Why would Lorei be packing in there?  As I said, overall very good.

No offence BellaTrix, but since I started this whole thing and all, it was kinda rude to say '4. GloWorm says to always keep to your genre, but I disagree: if you really want to, change genres.'.

And Megan, Annie, I'm sorry but I can't continue this, I simply don't have time, and since I started it, I'd rather if it was just closed. If you want to continue a story, fine, but please don't make it part of TAPM.
