So I think

Chatterbox: Inkwell

So I think

So I think I found an RP idea. It's a bit odd, a bit experimental, so y'all don't have to do anything with it if you don't want to, but I'm interested to see what you think.

THE PREMISE: everyone fears the alien Empress. everyone is bound together by their fear of her, but simultaneously, always alone because of it. everyone is a distorted reflection of the first person your character really and truly lost. scabs / scars / blood are marks of honor. almost all poetry is viewed as propaganda for one's own dreams / hopes. augurs / prophets / oracles are rarely right; often ridiculed for their own teachings. the characters meet through a Romeo & Juliet-style feud, but instead of families, it's political factions (royalists vs. rebels). the scene is set in URSIA.

CHARACTER SHEET

NAME:
AGE:
GENDER:
APPEARANCE:
PERSONALITY:
BACKGROUND (do they oppose or obey the Empress?):

Here's my character sheet:

NAME: Adara Ziva Sokoloff
AGE: 17
GENDER: female
APPEARANCE: pixie-cut black hair, grey eyes. short (as in about 5'1").
PERSONALITY: easy to anger, but also easy to forgive. has very major memory problems. sometimes is literally paralyzed by her emotions. when she doesn't take her meds, she's overcome by nausea / dizziness / fatigue / paranoia / delusions / something similar to a head cold. is a prophet (in the real world she would be considered to have multiple personality disorder/dissociative identity disorder). she has very violent mood swings, but she's most often sad. she forgets to eat without reminders, and her room is plasstered with art she's created / her own poems / reminders that FOOD IS LIFE. due to a traumatic experience with a boy when she was younger, she feels very uncomfortable around mostly all boys/men. her father is the only man she trusts. her mother is one of the only women she doesn't trust, aside from the Empress, if she could truly be termed a woman. she has nightmares involving that boy sometimes. she has very few close friends, but her close friends are all trusted with her deepest and darkest.
BACKGROUND (do they oppose or obey the Empress?): "rebel for life," her parents called her. both sides of her family and all of the kids she grew up playing with are rebels; whether they're open about it or not is irrelevant. her mother has some royalist blood, though, and slaps adara if she acts like a (political) rebel in front of her. the thing with the boy happened when she was about 11. she's been spitting on the faces / doors of royalists since she was young. ("like father, like daughter, right, adara?" her father said to her once when she was 13.) she's nice to the royalists at school, but only because she knows all of the school officials are royalists as well, and would have her expelled in an instant. & also, she's graduating in a year, so what does it matter?

Ok, here's my charrie:

NAME: Hugo Akiles (pronounced Ah-kill-ees)

AGE: 15

GENDER: Male
APPEARANCE: Not super short but not long caramel brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, tan skin, lopsided smile. He's a little bit shorter than average, lean, and missing the fifth finger on his right hand. His hands are covered in calluses, cuts, and bruises from working with machinery and such.
PERSONALITY: On the outside, he looks serious and down to business, but when you get to know him, he's very funny. He is an excellent mechanic and is full of ideas. Sometimes, he daydreams/ spaces out, but mostly finishes his work on time. He is very friendly and kind, most people like him. Very passionate about things he believes in.
BACKGROUND (do they oppose or obey the Empress?): He's from a large family in the poorer parts of Ursia. His family values kindness above everything else, so he is always looking out for others. He and his family are rebels(They don't like how the Empress treats people), but they don't fight. They only rebel quietly/ peacefully, and only when necessary. Hugo could fight, he is strong enough, but he doesn't like to and has only been in one fight his whole life.

NAME: Elana Amaranth
AGE: 15
GENDER: Female
APPEARANCE:
Elana
PERSONALITY:
Shy, quiet, does not voice her opinion very strongly. She doesn't let them know what she's against or what she's for. A little sad, but tries to lead a normal life as possible. Well, if you could call living under a cruel dictator normal.
BACKGROUND (do they oppose or obey the Empress?):
She sides with whoever wil win. She has learned, the hard way, to keep her mouth shut when it could get her killed. Fools who run their mouths off wind up dead. At this point, the rebellion is only talk; except for a few skirmishes between unarmed civilian protestors and armed soldiers, there hasn't really been any fighting. The Empress' army is so powerful, that Elana sees it as the side that will remain in power. So she is careful not to have anything to do with the rebels.
Now for her background. Why she is this way.
*rubs hands together gleefully*
She lives alone. She used to have two parents. They died. She also had a sister, Illura, who ran away.
Her mother, Meliana, was an activist, anonymously publishing illegal brochures against the Empress. Her father, Georyn, was more neutral. Illura, always the quick-witted, sharp-tongued, passionate and extroverted child, took after Meliana in that way. Elana was more quiet and reserved, like her father. But the two sisters were still best of friends.
There were so many close calls with her mother- almost being discovered. Elana's parents started arguing a lot, her father upset that Melania would put herself and the family in danger, and scared for her, Meliana insisting that they must do what was right.
Then somehow Melania was discovered. Soldiers found her and killed her on the spot, as well as Georyn.
Elana and Illura managed to escape without the soldiers seeing them. They decided to lay low for about a year. Then things started going even more downhill.
Both sisters were drastically affected by their parents' deaths. Elana was heartbroke, and terrified. To her, the event taught her that she shouldn't speak up against something that was never going to be defeated. She avoided saying her mother's name, in fact, she was actually angry at her mother for putting them in danger, letting her dear father get killed.
Illura took the opposite approach. To her, the event only proved that she should fight against the tyranny of the Empress.
Elana would argue and argue pver this, until one da it got so bad that Illura decided to join the rebels, wherever they were.
Elana never saw her again.
