Teal~

The girl, Aurum, has allied herself with Vibrant. I hope she knows what she is doing.

Myself, I have two allies: Aqua-Blaze and Indigo. There's a jittery atmosphere in the air. I sigh and step forward.

"Friends... I think we should all ally. It's going to be difficult to survive, and even more difficult to survive if we're trying to kill each other. Let's have a good, clean deadly wilderness survival test, OK?" 

Vibrant

Vibrant stood straight and still, lined up along all the other half-breeds. He still wasn't sure about his alliance with Aurum, and all the others, especially the Scarlet-Violet girl, Viola. She's looking at me half-pityingly, half-skeptical. Oh... I think. She doesn't think I'm worth much... And she's right, too. What powers do I have, or skills or strengths? My hand tightens around my barbed whip, my only weapon, given to me by my father. A truce has been called throughout the half-breeds, but I'm not so sure it will hold up for a year.

Finally, we are ushered into the woods, the trees swallowing up our parents. As soon as we're under the cover of trees, the Azmerald girl, Teal, turns around and faces us. Her eyes have a clever look, and she radiates cunning. "So," she says, breaking the silence. "All of us, together for a year." I say nothing, feeling awkward.

"That's right," says Aurum. She doesn't strike me as someone who's afraid of speaking, and she's not. "If we're all going to have to live together for a year, I suggest we stay off the path of killing each other." She shoots a look at Viola, who scowls. I shiver, feeling slightly glad she's not my ally. 

"I'll try not to," Viola says, a small grin tracing on her lips. "But it's my life over yours." Aqua glowers at her, but her eyes are teasing.

"Yes, try not to," she retorts. "Though it might be hard." Viola bristles, but I can't stop a small smile from happening. "Also," Aqua continues, stepping away from Viola. "We're going to have to figure out some place to live."

"Well, I'm not living with her," Aurum says, nodding her head at Viola.

"Neither will I," I say, before I can grab back to words from escaping my lips. The girls look at me in surprise, as if they're shocked I can speak. Viola narrows her eyes, and I shudder inwardly. Perhaps that wasn't the best decision. I can't afford to be making enemies.

"Well, I think we should..." Teal begins talking, but it fades into white noise. All I can see is a pair of icy red-purple eyes boring into my soul. I fade into the undergrowth, then take off at a run as soon as they can't see me. I'll return later, but for now I need time to think. I wander into a clearing, and seat myself on a stump. As my mind pores over the happenings of just now, a shape suddenly charges out from behind me. My heart slams against my chest as I leap up, a scream escaping my lips, and cast my hand back at the shape. Astonishingly, a small, glowing violet dart forms in my hand, seemingly from nothing, and soars towards the shape, burying itself in its neck. The shape collapses, and now I can see that the figure was simply a startled deer, now slumped, unmoving, on the ground.

Fear washes over me as I near it. My hand trembles as it nears the deer's still form. Slowly, I place my hand on its neck and feel for a heartbeat.

Dead.

I stumble backwards, confused. I just killed the deer with something made of energy. A darrt? A poison? Is this some power I don't know about? I try to remember any Clan Flame or Clan Violet member showing any signs of a power, but I can't recall any. Does this mean the power only comes to half-breeds? That would mean I have an incredible power. But... so do the others.

A forest looms above us, our parents now far behind. I will make you proud, mother. I vow to myself. "So," the Azmereld girl says. "All of us, together for a year." 

"That's right," says Aurum. "If we're all going to have to live together for a year, I suggest we stay off the path of killing each other." She glares at me. I scowl at her. Honestly, there's no room for the weak. 

Meaning that I should kill everyone here except for Aurum, and Teal, the Azmereld girl. 

"I'll try not to," I say with a smirk. "But it's my life over yours." Aqua, the Azame girl says, "Yes, try not to," she retorts. "Though it might be hard."

How dare she?! Perhaps I underestimated her ... the only boy, Vibrant smirks. "Also," Aqua adds. "We're going to have to figure out some place to live."

"Well, I'm not living with her," Aurum says, nodding her head at me. I snort slightly at this insult. My mind starts forming a list of those who Mother would approve of, and those she would disapprove of.

Teal: Not really.

Vibrant: Absolutely not.

Indigo: Uh, no.

Aqua: Yea, I guess.

Aurum: Yes.

But, my list is ... different.

Teal: A threat. Don't team up with.

Vibrant: Might as well kill him, as he's useless. No alliance.

Indigo: Kill, non-threatening. Don't team up with.

Aqua: Could turn out to be a threat. Not likely. Hates me, so we can't form an alliance.

Aurum: Doesn't trust me, but she won't bother me. As she doesn't trust me, no alliance. Jeez, this is annoying. 

"Neither will I," Vibrant says. Why? Why would you say such a thing out loud, you foolish ...

"Well, I think we should all team up. Let's have a nice, clear, fair deadly Wilderness Trials." " Teal says.

What? She'd risk trusting me?

"I agree."

"Me too."

"Let the games begin." 

Vibrant lets out a scream as a deer falls down dead in front of him. Although he's stopped screaming, the sound still fills my ears. And it's getting louder. 

Suddenly, I can't see anything. Then, my vision has changed. I'm still in the same area, but I'm in a different spot. "What?" I whisper, lifting up my hands.

They're on fire.

Just in case no one gets it, Viola just accidentaly took control of Aqua.

I plodded after the girls, my head hung low. Aqua tread in front of me, her red-blue hair rippling down her back. Behind me was Viola. Odd, I thought. It wasn't like Viola to be so... submissive. Her eyes looked glazed, lacking their red and purple glint. Oddly, when Aqua turned to glance at me, the opalescent blue in her eyes looked more indigo than cerulean.

I ignored her, though. And odd sense of power tingled at my fingertips. I controlled life and death. Awakening or sleep. Or... at least I thought I did. After I killed he deer, I felt kind of woozy and confused. Maybe it had to recharge... or maybe I'm just worthless. Maybe I'm pathetic and helpless and awful and useless and... I felt myself sinking into the pit of self-doubt once again, though I had so much experience with it.
