NOTE: CREDIT TO September's Marked RP
Once upon a time, there were two cities. One was named Opila (op-eel-ya), and the other was Iolia (eye-oh-leah). Now, these two cities were very different, but had many similarites. In Opila, kids at the age of 15 would be marked with their power and/or profession. They would then live on with their lives, doing whatever made them happy. (In other words, Opila is a utopia.)
In Iolia, kids at the age of 15 would be marked with their power and/or profession..but then, they wold be sent out into the Wilderness to be tested in an INTENSE competition TO THE DEATH. The one that survived would become the new leader of Iolia.
But what happens when kids from Iolia are sent to Opila.....to live?
Of course, there is a prophecy.
"When all is lost
And the land is dark,
Ten kids of light
Will banish the damp.
Five from I,
And five from O,
Together-
They will save the world."
Ok! So it's pretty self explanatory. Only 9 other people allowed in! Sign up now!
Wind-2 people allowed
Water-1 person allowed
Fire-2 people allowed
Earth-2 people allowed
Light-2 people allowed
You can pick ONE mark, Light, Water, Wind, Fire or Earth. Your charrie can be from 13-21. If you are before a mark (eg. 13 or 14, even 15), you may write about the Marking ceremony. It's different for everyone, and they are closed to the public, so it works. Only 5 people can be from Opila and only 4 from Iolia. After we have all been marked, the four of you and me can go to Opila. (From Iolia)
Eventually, we all get to hear about the prophecy, but the Iolia/Opila goverments are mad at us. Some of us might get captured.

Mark: Looks like a flower with swirls and circles

Apperance: Silvery white hair with ice blue eyes. Pale skin.
Personality: Kind but shy. Timid and doesn't like meeting other people. Once she knowas you though, she is fiercely loyal. She'll even die for them.
Backstory/Other: She never really knew what it was like to have a true family. At age 3, her parents vanished. A foster family took her in, but they ignore her, and she ignores them. She reads all the time, trapped in her room. Sometimes, she skips meals because she can't BEAR to go see them.
Weapon of Choice: wits.

I have a question. If nearly all of a generation dies at Iolia from the competition, who is supposed to make the next generation, since there is only one person left?

Appearance: Bouncy brown hair, cheerful light brown eyes. Short. Smiley.
Personality: Friendly, relaxed, protective. Almost motherly toward the people she cares for. Brave, holds grudges, keeps her chin up. If someone hurts the people she loves she will NEVER forgive them. untrusting to people who where once bad. Has a good sense of humor. Not very good at solving problems with words.
Other: Likes Cooking.
Weapon of choice: A frying pan, maybe a baseball bat.

Isn't Iolia a CBer? Here's my charrie. Also, I'm only making two, not five; hate to disappoint :).
Name: Serre Ci'an (sair-RAY SEE-yahn)
Age: 14
Mark: A twisting vine around her left wrist. I'll draw a picture because I can't stay away from stuff like that.
Power: Earth
Profession: None.
Opila or Iolia?: Iolia
Appearance: I AM ABSOLUTELY TIRED OF FANTASY APPEARANCES. I needed to get that out. Goodness. Okay: Long honey-colored hair in a braid (yes, a braid, always a braid), hazel eyes that turn green when the light hits them, fair skin.
Personality: Intelligent. Highly values family and independance. Doesn't bond easily with other people, but if she finds someone who she feels as though she connects with, she forges a bond. But she only hangs on by a thread. She's a loyal friend, but if her friends show even a hint of disloyalty she's gone.
Backstory/Other: Female. Backstory - she has a family that loves her: two parents, a brother, and a palomino mare named Sapphi. And then one day she was Marked. End of story.
Weapon of Choice: A katana. It was her mothers, and her gradnmother's before that, and her great-grandmother's before her grandmother's. It is an ancient weapon passed through generations and generations of women. If you don't know what a katana is (surprisingly few do) then do yourself a favor and look it up.

Thanks! And that's really cool. I'm so fascinated by the complex process that is used to craft them, how flawless and sharp they are--sharp doesn't even begin to describe it--and how... ancient they are. Well, here's Serre's brother.
Name: Hawthorne Ci'an
Age: 17
Mark: A tatto-ish pattern of golden triangles on his upper arm; I'll send a picture as I'm aware this description may not make sense.
Power: Wind
Profession: What are the options?
Opila or Iolia?: Iolia
Appearance: Tall. About average build, somewhat muscular, short, dark brown hair, light skin. Kind of emanates warrior-ness, I guess?
Personality: Surly and gruff, but beneath that tough exterior, he's a kind, compassionate person. Very smooth and easy to be around; charismatic in a sense. He loves his sister and family very much which is why the two siblings almost always stick together.
Backstory/Other: Male. He has a family that loves him--his parents, sister, Serre, and palomino mare--but then he got marked and everything changed.
Weapon of Choice: A broadsword

Power: magic (powerful, not like pulling out a rabbit out of hats, like mind reading, and all things magical)
Profession:auther (she puts page flipingspells on her books after she writes them so you can't put the book down, but you acully can,)

Apperance: dark wavy purple hair, with blue eyes, and freckles an her nose wit hhot pink glasses red lips and pearly white teeth
Personality: risky loner intelagent, pretty, smart, funny has a cuple friends
Backstory/Other: she was orphaned by her birth parints when they tried to esape so no she lives with her best friends and her familay the only thing she has of her real family is a blue teddy bear named blue berry.
Weapon of Choice. magic, only her BFF knows about her magic intell the moving.
