NEW RP THAT REALLY SHOULD HAVE A NAME BUT DOESN'T*
In the middle of nowhere, Virginia, there is a small town. This town isn't known to anyone at all except the relatives of the people who live there. It has enough children that there's a school and a library, but otherwise you have to drive to the nearest town to pick up mail, put money in your bank account, etc. There's a nice family-owned grocery store that contains what you need but not exotics, so shopping sprees are rather common. It's a sleepy place, where dogs are let out into subarban yards for the day and you drive everywhere. This town is called Cardinal Valley.
It's also one of the most dangerous places in the world.
The library mentioned earlier has been closed for years, maybe even a decade. This is because there is a book-- one book-- that, when opened, will transfer an innocent reader away to another place, another world. The librarian once found this book, and was able to return by looking into its pair in the other world. However, no one knows where this twin is. Nobody knows the name of the book, either, or even really believes the legend. But because you are a reader and have privledges, the name of the book is Cardinal Valley.
This book, as has been said, transfers you to an alternate dimension. This world is in chaos. It has a king, but his territory stretches for so far he does not know where to start. This king is missing the vital point of a monarch: the ability to make descisions. So while he dithers about on his throne, his world falls into insanity.
This world is called Cardinal Valley.

In this RP, you can be a resident of the sleepy town Cardinal Valley or the chaotic realm Cardinal Valley. I would prefer that the book transport goes one way only: to the chaotic kingdom.
If you come from the sleepy town, you should at some point be transported to the other Cardinal Valley. When this happens, one of three things can occur. The first is that you are suddenly found alone, with no idea where you are. The second is that you suddenly find yourself with a new breed of civilization, where they believe you have existed there since birth and you are known to people. If this happens, you can become another creature. The third is that you come to the new Cardinal Valley and forget about your own sleepy town, instead remembering a life here, while no one else knows who you are except others who have suffered the same fate. You slowly remember your own life.
If you come from the chaotic realm, you can be anything you want. This Cardinal Valley is fantasy medieval (the other is present day), so there are sprites, mages, and anything else you can think of. The one thing you CANNOT be are the king and queen, who can be god-modded by anyone.
A couple more rules. Firstly, no Mary Sues or Alpha Males. Make sure your character is well-developed and avoiding stereotypes-- mischievious, powerful fairies are fun to play but tiresome. Secondly, make sure you are dedicated to this RP, as I would like it to finish. Thirdly, please avoid god-modding as much as possible. A conversation is all well and good, but definitely no major descision-making and NO winning a fight/killing another character without consultation. Fourth, you may have two charries maximum. If you do, it would be best if they were from different worlds and were different genders. And lastly, please make sure to double-check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Minor mistakes are perfectly all right, but it's very difficult when every other word is misspelled or the writer doesn't know their three "there"'s. I recommend Googling the word if you're not sure of the spelling-- that's what I usually do.
As I'm driving home tomorrow, I'll get online when I'm there and see how many people want to join. From there I may say that there's the perfect amount and no one else may join, I may say that there are too many people and I'll have to deny some entrance, or I'll say there are too few people and I'll give it a little longer. ONCE THE RP STARTS, NO ONE MAY JOIN.

Appearance: No, she's not Scottish, I am creative. Melia is in fact slightly German, with a faint accent. She has dark brown hair in pigtail braids and grey-blue eyes. She has a few freckles, tanned light skin, and is about average height, usually wearing shin-length pants and t-shirts with no text (parents' rules).
Personality: Melia is an average student, although very curious. She wants to be a scientist when she grows up, and especially study animals. She enjoys reading nonfiction but likes a good story. A very outdoor person, Melia bikes, swims, runs, and jumpropes, but is best at running-- there's going to be an afterschool track program in school next year, and her name was first on the list. She's the type to wait for someone to approach, have them start the conversation, and then she'll keep it going for hours. Melia's a dedicated, don't-give-up-on-your-dream sort of person, and very peppy. She also likes to stay up late.
Backstory: Melia's grandparents on her father's side are fully German, but her mother's line is American very far back. Her parents moved to Cardinal Valley when she was three, and she can't remember anything about where they lived before (Richmond).

Appearance: Not Scottish. Quit thinking so low of me. He has mousy brown hair which is always messy and chocolate brown eyes. His skin is very pale, as he spends most of his time inside. Petey is slightly short for his age and wears clothes appropriate to his rank.
Personality: Petey is an introvert. He prefers finding a silent corner to himself and reading to partying in the ballroom. He has very high expecations for anything anybody does, including himself, and finds fictional writings childish, instead reading non-fiction, particularly history, quenching his thirst for knowledge. Although royal, Petey is used to taunting and merely turns away from it. He speaks often, but mostly to criticize. When one tells him he's annoying, he tells them that they should watch their low-class filthy tongues before he threw them to the gallows, even if it was a sibling speaking. They would laugh; he would turn away, head high, although secretly insulted.
Backstory: Petey is the fifth child of the royal family, and therefore will probably end up being a duke or earl, but definitely not king. He has one older sister and three older brothers, plus a few younger siblings, even a baby (note: you may play any of these, although I'm not sure why you'd want to be a baby). He grew up in the castle and rarely left it, spending most of his time with tutors or alone.

Backstory: He was Salle's brother, but he disappeared into the library at age 6 and was never seen again. Once he entered the Chaotic realm, the third and first things began happening to him. He is very confused and ignored to this day, so he throws himself into his studies. The only thing holding him back from a full Mage is his age.

Personality: Outgoing, happy, likes to play outside. Smiles all the time... basically just the opposite of Peter. Peter is her favorite sibling, because he is the closest in age to her, and she basically adores him, even though he is not very warm toward her. (Is that alright?)

Rank/Occupation: Fighter/Healer/Nomad
Appearance: Tall and agile, Zekrar Despate was cursed at a young age. He was to gain healing and enhanced fighting powers, but if angered, he will beserk, attacking anyone in sight. During the later times, his eyes go red. He wears armor made from a fallen oak, and carries a sword made from the rock in his old village. His eyes change color, and they are usualy brown or green. He has black hair, and he lets it fall down to his shoulders. He wears red paint on his arms and face, and he wears a cloak woven from a banner in his old village.
Personality: He cares deeply about life, but that does not make him "good." He wants revenge, and he wants power. He can controll his rages by a sort of meditation, but rarely does so. He will know if he is fighting elves, and usualy fights humans in his rages. He travels through forests to try to find calm, so that he can save his rage for when he finds a human. He hates humans, and will stop them at any cost from greater power or gaining controll of the forest. He will help any elf who loves nature to his dying breath.
Backtstory: Once a young healer in his small village, his village was attacked by raiders. It was almost destroyed, but a human from the raiders cursed Zekrar to be a savage warrior beond his years and a saving healer with large power, but also to be the worst beast that walked the earth. He could have hae the curse removed by the locale mage, but refused, wishing to kill humans with it. He gained the reputation as an enemy of all humans, which is false. He wants humans to recconect with nature, but he will fight the ones he deams "evil" or the ones that annoy him. His main target is the royal family.
Other: He sometimes has trouble remembering things before he had the curse...

**double disclaimer: I will be calling this the Cardinal Valley RP, because getting teleported to a chaotic magical realm is always fun. You're such a spoilsport, St.
Name: Franklin "Lin/Frankie" Tam
Age: 14
Where they're from: Cardinal Valley
Species (if chaotic): Mixed descent; mostly fox fae, with a hint of mer blood.
Rank/Occupation: Hired thief, though she often does her own work.
Appearance: She is Scottish! mwhaha- *coughs* ha. She's got dark brown hair that's almost black and brown eyes. This is a real thing, my family is, among other things, descended from Scotts and while my sister fits all the stereotypes people tend to think I'm Russian, British, or Jewish. They always get it wrong. Anyhow... she's thin, and would be "lanky" if she wasn't so short. She's 5'2, but looks shorter because she's so petite. She's got dark freckles on her forehead and cheek bones, as well as spattering her arms and legs. Her dark hair is pretty long, going about a third of the way down her shoulder blades, and is vaguely wavy. Her eyes are narrowed and sharp, and often sparkle with mischeif.
Personality: She's witty and a bit of a smart alec. She's quite quick of a runner and has sharp eyes, but can't carry heavy loads because of her petite frame. She's a good thief, curious and while relatively well meaning, can also be unkind. She's sardonic and often self depricating, and hates anyone she thinks is arrogant. Will swing back and forth between plotting world domination and playing about with the idea of acting as some sort of Robin Hood, but in reality doesn't have the recources or time to do either properly.
Backstory: Her mom was a Fox Fae of Scottish descent, and somewhere on her dad's side there's a mermaid. She had two mild magical types that battle within her, making her a bit bipolar. When the waxs and wanes, so does her mermaid side. (To keep her from being OP, her mermaid descent is so diluted it gives her very little. She's a good swimmer and can hold her breath a long time; that's really about it.) When the moon is gone, the fox blood in her grows stronger and she ends up doing more mischevious things. Her fox fae side is less diluted, so she has more fox fae characteristics. Her mom could transform completely into a fox, but Franklin can't. She's got a good nose and sharp ears and is relatively quick and agile, but that's it.
Other: She can be found in any city big enough and magical enough to have an underworld.

Appearance: Long white hair, dusky deep gray skin, deep green eyes with a spiderweb pattern in them. Wears black obsidian and leather armor and uses a pronged whip.
Personality: Cold, calculating. Very loyal to friends. Worships Lolth.
Backstory: nyeeeeh
Other: Drow are stereotyped as evil because they live underground and used to be really evil.

But it's fine, I just need to know that you're willing to stick with the RP, not neccessarily post every day. That goes for you too, Jack-a-Nat.
Also, yay Scots! Scotland is actually one of my favorite European places below Ireland and a few others. I just really like the GBR islands, I guess. (I kept saying they weren't Scottish because the real Peter Capaldi and Amy Williams-Pond are both Scottish. xD )
@Shadowcat: When I say rank/occupation, I mean basically job and class. For example, an ironworker favored by the king would be pretty high class, while one working in a small obscure village wouldn't.
@Inktail: I'd prefer to have at least one opening RP post each before the characters start finding the book. I don't want to rush the plot; I'd also prefer for Melia to be the first, so I can give a little basis for everyone else.
@Alexandra: Perfectly okay. He hates all his siblings, so . . . xD
@Everyone: This is a good amount of people-- I think one or two more joiners and we can start the RP.

Appearance:
Normally (I WILL explain. Promise!) shoulder-length black hair, usually tied back into a ponytail with a red silk ribbon he stole, loose tan shirt and dark pants, and tall boots. Bright green eyes, and a bit of a smirk.
Personality:
Jared is... Interesting. Very pessimistic (but usually very humorously pessimistic) and prickly around people, he immediately opens up around his little sis Ariana, and is really quite kind. He's has bad experiences though, so he's not very trusting.
Backstory:
Ok, explaining. So, a shifter is really a half-blood, part shapeshifter, part human. In this case, Jared's father (his identity is secret, so let's call him Joe) was a shapeshifter and his mother (let's call her Lily) was human. So, one day Joe and Lily met. They dated and *cough cough* y'know. Anyhoo, it ended up with a pregnant, unmarried Lily. Joe was killed because the people in the town found out he was a shapeshifter (they aren't exactly popular), and then we still have a pregnant, unmarried Lily. Then, when people found out that Joe was the father of Lily's unborn child, they chased her out of town, but they didn't kill her since she was still pregnant. After a while, a very, very pregnant Lily stumbled into another town, about ten miles away. She collapsed at the first door she came to, and immediately went into labor. The people who lived in the house found her, and got her to the midwife. A few hours later, tada! Little baby Jared. Anyway, the people who found Lily had a son, who was very interested in her (but in a nice way. I promise.) After a while, Lily and the son (let's call him Mike) got married. Lily told Mike all about Joe, and what that ment for Jared, but he didn't care. He loved them both. Then Lily and Mike *cough cough* y'know, and along come Ariana! But, let's get back to Jared, shall we?
So, because of his father, Jared can shift, just not indefinitely. His natural form is a human, but he can change his appearance (think Tonks.) He can also change form to say... A wolf, but it tires him.
Anyway, when Jared was 9 and Ariana was 5, a massive anti-shapeshifter movement hit all of Cardinal Valley. Of course, Jared isn't really a shapeshifter, but he was kicked out anyway. Mike and Lily were imprisoned for 'Harboring a shapeshifter,' and Ariana ran away to be with Jared. Nowadays, they wander around the Valley, trying to stay out of sight, but Jared usually is seen stealing some sort of supplies and they have to move.
