When I joined

When I joined the Cricket forums, I was surprised to see that, unlike most of my friends, many of you have written novels, but I don't really know how many. Who has written a/some novel/s? How many? What are their word counts? How long did they take you?

I have written exactly one in our writing co-op's duplicate of Nanowrimo this March. It's roughly 35,500 words long - not bad for one month, and I didn't have to do the full fifty thousand as I'm only in 9th grade. :) It took me one month, although the editing will probably take most of the summer. :P I don't know what my title will end up being, but my working title is Fear Left Behind. I'm not worried about anyone taking that, because I'm not going to use it anyway. Anywho, I am eager to see y'all's responses! (Y'all's is one of the few English words with two appostrophes. I love it.)

Novels are very hard. I've only written a few... let me see, three. Not including one 70-page novella. One was in the 100-and-teens; one was in the 100-and-fifties; and one was, um, I'm not sure. Good luck with your novel! :) They're a challenge, but fun.

Wow, that's good. In MS Word my 35,000 word novel is only 60 pages, so yours must be pretty long. I want to do it again this summer, but with more like 100,000 words.

Novels, I love novels--I, too, have written three, two still HORRENDOUSLY UNPOLISHED AND UNEDITED AND OVERALL AWFUL. They're all in a series.

Of course, writing drives me so insane--in a good way--that I have now alienated almost all of my friends, and so now I walk around asking people random questions about my novels, because my head gets so full of them, like if my main character's mom dies, I start obsessively asking people how they would feel if their mother had a heart attack and died. And I get addictions--to things like solitaire and chocolate--and I start talking to myself, which I do a lot and it freaks my friends out. So uh-huh, yeah. Writing makes me crazy; thus, I love it.

A word count? No word count at present, but by the time my first novel is completely, utterly finished and polished, it'll be roughly 200 pages, give or take a few.
