Chatterbox: Inkwell

Writing a book!

So I'm writing a book(well duh) and I'll post it here!

Chapter 1

Zachary woke  up to a laugh so loud it made him sit up in his bed. It was a chilling wail coming from across the street and seemed to linger in the air before snapping back.

Before he could lie back down the night was once again filled with noise,this time a cry like that of a wounded animal. But there was something slightly human about the sound that made him grip his sheets in fear. 

And then there was a heavy thud that could have been a bolder hitting the ground.

Or something else.

Quickly Zachary ran  to his sisters room. If Eliza had been awakened by the sound she didn't show it with her head  buried in her pillow and her hair falling down her back onto her blankets witch were neat and orderly like everything else in her room.

"Ellie wake up."

"Go away" Eliza tried to cover her head with her blankets but Zachary gave her a hard shake 

"This is important"

"What?"

Zachary told her what he'd heard 

Eliza cocked her head listening for any noise in the empty silence "And your sure it was him" she said gesturing toward the house across from them.

"Yes. C'mon we've got to do something!"

Grumpily Eliza went downstairs with Zachary They peeked out the window with their hearts beating fast. However they could see nothing strange  about the gray stone house in the light of the full moon.

Eliza had to admit she was more curious than she seemed. The only thing she knew about their new neighbor was that he was a writer, something that intrigued her greatly.

"Maybe he was just watching TV" she suggested. 

"Maybe" Zachary muttered as they headed back upstairs.

As they left the door of the house slowly opened. Satisfied that it was not being watched the creature crept out into the forest.

And there was one more noise.

A dog- or was it a wolf howling
