Exploration Adventure RP!!!!!!!

13 years ago the world was struck with a surge of tatanic earthquakes.

Japan was swallowed beneath the ocean's surface----taking two thirds of China along with it.

That was just one of the many casualties.

No one knew what had caused the tectonic playes to shift with such force.   Till Months later- after a FedEx delivery plane crashlanded on a volcanic island on the pacific ocean.

An island that wasn't there before.

Germany was the first to send troops there-

They didn't come back.

Russia followed, but with the same conclusion.

America sent a team of the best scientists as well as a fleet of emergency back-up.

All that returned was a slip spattered with blood.

Its now 2057, and president Terrilly is following up on his promise-

Pompeii will be habited.

Just as soon as it is scouted first.

I dont' know any chemicals, either, so maybe we should just make something up? And where did everyone else go? Come back!

Yeah, I know that, but it's kind of hard to RP with two people. Though it'd be helpful if you could post something! It doesn't matter if it's really short. And can the ship arrive at shore, soon? Poor Aileen's gettin' kinda lonely here!

~

At long last, the ship scrapes onto the sandy shore of the island. As I rush to help the healthiest sailors drop anchor, something on the horizon catches my eye. A shattered glass dome. Almost like...

I take a flying leap off the side of the boat and swim butterfly to the shore. My mom was a British navy veteran before she moved to France and met my dad. I have some useful life skills from her.

On shore, I take off running, though my clothes are dripping and heavy from swimming in salt water.

The object is indeed a glass dome,  as I discover when I get closer to it. I slow down a few meters away from it and peer inside. By the few rays of sun filtering in,  I make out vegetation, and different species of animals.

Is Aileen alive? "Salut?"  I call cautiously. "Hello? Anyone?"

Nothing. Then a voice. "Pierre?"

~~~
Short, I know. I would write more but I don't want to misuse Aileen because I don't know her personality well enough.
Thanks for posting!
~Aileen
I take my first step into the jungle, then hear a sound behind me. I turn around quickly, and see some ripples in the water. I freeze, as someone steps onto the shore. I quickly examine him, then my eyes widen with delight as I hear a wonderfully familiar voice,
"Salut? Hello? Anyone?"
"Pierre!" I leap out of the jungle, tackling him with a bear hug, "I knew you were coming!"
I squeeze him tightly, and he akwardly puts his arms around me. I back up and the boat drops it's anchor, everyone gathering on deck, "Hi!" I wave my arms crazily, "I'm here!"
The first one off is the Captain, stepping uncertainly on the ground, "Looks like I've still got my sea legs! Feels like the lands moving under'neath me."
He smiles, but there's something in it, something different. I put the though aside, hugging him, "I've missed you."
I watch as everyone else gets off, my giddy smile slowly falling off my face as I realize something is wrong. I walk over to Pierre, gently tapping his shoulder, "What happened since I was gone?"
He looks at everyone, his face falling, "I-" He looks down, and I can sense something is wrong, "A sickness comes and attacks... many."
"Oh," I swallow, as a Rose, someone who was on the ship, runs toward us, a vial in her hands, looking excited.
"It worked, it-" She breaks off as she looks at us, "Oh. We landed!"
I laugh, "What's in the vial?"
"It's something that can slow the sickness down. At least, until we get the real cure, which is in this book," She holds up a book.
My eyes widen, and I jump up happily, "That's wonderful! Just one thing- how bad is this sickness- really?"
Everyone falls silent, and Rose sighs, "Well... you could say it's pretty bad."
I nod, and move away from the subject, looking at Rose, "Can you show me the cure?"
She nods, and hands me the book, open to a bookmarked page. As I read, my brow furrows, "I don't know what any of these things are. But-" I look up, smiling, "I think they might be on this island."
We need a name for the virus and the chemical. I used the wonderfulness of the internet to find a chemical name maker, so for now I'll call it Nitrogen Platinochloride
~Rose~
"I don't know what any of these things are, but I think they might be on this island." Aileen says.
"You're joking." I say. Aileen shakes her head.
"Nope! I've seen some of these while I was here. For instance, doesn't that," She points up to fruit in a tree, "Look like that?" She points a picture in the book.
"You're right. Can you give me a boost? I'll grab it." Aileen puts down the book and laces her fingers together. I jump from her hand, kick off the tree, grab the lowest branch, and pull myself onto it. I pluck the fruit Aileen pointed to along with others that are near it.
"Someone catch these." I call down. I toss the fruit and then jump.
"Thank goodness for natural medicine and pictures." I say. "Guys, I will warn you that this won't just be as easy as making the cure in the book. They're not they same virus. I had to do a lot of experimenting to find out how to slowdown the virus. I need to go show Doctor Dereads my findings. I'll leave the book with you. You guys can figure out how to start finding the cure. It would probably be simplest to start with the cure in the book." I walk back to the ship and head for the infirmary.
So I said I would call the chemical that slows down the virus Nitrogen Platinochloride because I needed a name. Now I'm voting that we name it imbecillin. It sounds like a combination of imbecile and penicillin. I can explain this if you like.
Please explain the name.
(November 29, 2016 - 3:47 pm)
A comedian was once talking about how hard school was. The plural of ox is oxen but the plural of box isn't boxen and so on. At a certain point, he just started adding en to everthing. His teacher calls him an imbecile and he says IMBECILEN! It's a lot funnier when he does it. My family think imbecilen sounds like an antibiotic or something, so that's why I suggested it. I changed the spelling slightly to look more like Penicillin.
This is Alexandra, and I think that's a great name! What should we name the virus, though? We can just call the cure 'the cure' for now, I guess. And we also have to make up names for all the ingredients in the cure... so many names! I'll just make them up along the way... By the way, where is everyone else? We only have three people! Whatever!
~Aileen
Rose ran back onto the deck, towards the infirmary, calling, "Keep on looking! I'll be back!"
I nod, "Take your time!", and look down at the book's pictures, "Should we go into the forest?"
Without waiting for an answer, I skip off toward the forest, everyone else following (So there are like... three or four people with Aileen right now?). I stop at the edge of the forest, then I take a step in.
Immediately, my surroundings feel different. It's more humid, more moist, under the trees. There's more shadow, with blots of sunlight spilling in through the leaves. I love it. I smile, and run in, looking at the trees and plants, "Tell me if you find anything!" I call behind me.
"We will." They call back.
I look down at the book, at the first item. It's a pale, icy-blue flower, with a twisting stem, like a vine. I look at the description, skipping a lot until I find it's name. The ishmivauri flower. What a strange name. I shake my head, looking around. There are multi-colored berries, moss, trees, and even butterflies! I laugh, stretching out my arm, and a monarch lands on my fingers. The forest is silent, and I love the silence. I listen to it, the distant birds calling, the murmur of voices, Pierre and the rest talking, and a strange, hissing noise.
Hiss... hiss... hiss.
I turn around, "Vincent?" I ask, expecting him to pop out and slither over to me. I kneel down, looking at the snake, then freeze.
It's black and green, with beady yellow eyes, and a forked tongue, working it's way over, hissing all the way. It's a snake, alright, but it's not Vincent.
"W-who are you?" I ask, a mixture of wonder and fear.
It doesn't answer, of course, but keeps slithering toward me, faster, faster... I stand up, turn, and run, hearing it's hissing get closer... closer...
~~~

Thought I'd add some dramatic stuff there! HOpefully this doesn't contradict with Zeus's post... it hasn't shown up yet.

~

I'm barely following the conversation at all, so I react quickly when I hear the hissing start. I approach cautiously and quietly through the dense brush of jungle plants.

The snake is slithering toward Aileen! I sprint forward with grim determination. I just found out she wasn't dead. I'm not about to lose her again.

Defying probably every rule of safety ever, I pick up the snake. Aileen's momentary look of fear is replaced by curiosity and excitement. "I've never encountered this species! Can I see?"

I gingerly hold up the snake. I'm not afraid of snakes, but I'm not a fool. "See," I stay stupidly, cursing my pathetic vocabulary. "A snake."

Aileen laughs. "Yes, a snake. But what species is it? I've never seen this type of snake before."

"Perhaps... perhaps it isn't anywhere else," I say carefully. "Away from this island."

Aileen nods slowly, and begins to smile broadly. "Then we discovered a new species! That's fantastic!" She leans forward in her excitement, examining the snake.

The snake doesn't like the company. It hisses, showing its fangs, and suddenly lashes out.

I jerk my arm back, putting some distance between the snake and Aileen's face.  The snake makes a noise that would be spitting, if snakes could spit. I flinch and drop it. It slips like quicksilver into the forest and disappears.

"Sorry," I say, hanging my head sheepishly. "It got away."

Aileen grins. "We still discovered a new species of snake!  Who knows how many new species might be on this island!"

"Let's keep looking for the flower!" someone calls from the little group of scientists behind us.

Aileen nods, but her thoughts are evidently still on the snake. "I wonder if its bite is poisonous," she says distractedly.

"I wonder," I repeat. And I notice, with growing horror, two red marks standing out against my tan forearm. Two puncture marks,  the size of the snake's fangs.

~~~~~~~~~
I know it's long. And sorry if I messed up Aileen's personality.
