Yes, one of these was made recently, but I'm changing it a bit.
I've gotten very fond of The Giver because it's required reading for ELA (I must be reading it for the third or fourth time now). I decided I want to make an RP about a certain generation of people in Jonas's community-- not a special time period or anything, but stuff happens. We could switch up the timeline a little bit. Maybe there would be two Recievers. That might be interesting.
In any case, you can be any competent age you want, and have any Assignment (unless it's for one person and has already been taken). You can have two charries max. We'll start when I shoot the blank.
(just kidding. When I say there's enough people.)
Remember, for names, they are fairly common, with no last name.
CHARRIE SHEETS (and my charries):
NAME: Rose
NUMBER: 15 (in case you forgot, it's the order babies were born in-- one was the first, two the second, etc.)
AGE: She lost track; late thirties, maybe.
FAMILY UNIT: She has a spouse, and a daughter, a Seven named Mabel.
ASSIGNMENT: The Giver
APPEARANCE: If you could see her in color, she would have vibrant red hair tied back in a messy bun. Her eyes have slight wrinkles around the edges and are blue, like every other Reciever. She's rather tall.
PERSONALITY: Although an introvert, Rose gets along well with people. She's not awkward and can easily step into a conversation. Rather brooding, she thinks before she speaks and takes time to make a decision. She believes in fairness over everything and quality, not quantity.
MENTIONABLE BACKSTORY: When Rose was a Twelve, they went from fourteen to sixteen. Like every other Reciever before her, she was terrified, but eventually understood, and was incredibly honored. She Heard Beyond (heard music), and learned how to play piano and sing from her own trainer. Rose was famous as a child for her constant exaggeration and was chatised often about precision of language.
NAME: Darius
NUMBER: Twenty-three
AGE: Eight (I'd like to start at the day of the Ceremony, so he's technically a Nine)
FAMILY UNIT: Obviously; he has a sister a year older.
ASSIGNMENT: Not yet determined
APPEARANCE: His hair is long, and curls slightly at the ends, going to his shoulders. His eyes are dark; average size.
PERSONALITY: Quiet. But not an introvert. Darius is always rather enthusiastic, he just thinks for too long a time. Everything is a draft to him, something that must be edited to perfection.
MENTIONABLE BACKSTORY: Darius is often complimented for his precision of language and creativity.

FAMILY UNIT: She has a brother, who now works as an engineer. She rarely sees him.
ASSIGNMENT: I'd like her to be Assigned to Law & Justice?
APPEARANCE: In color, she has dark brown eyes and shoulder length brown hair. Short for her age.
PERSONALITY: Very happy, naive, think of Lily
MENTIONABLE BACKSTORY: Caroline's been the top of her class for years, since she was a Seven.

I would love to join but i know extremely little about The Giver. I read the Qikipedia page on it and understand almost enough to join by my standards but i am confused by Sevens and Twelves and Eights. Could someone explain those to me? Thank you.

At Seven, children begin to transition from interdependence to dependence. They get a new coat, which fastens at the front instead of the back.
At Eight, the buttons on their jackets get smaller, and they get a pocket for small belongings. Also, Volunteer Hours start, which is where you go to try out different assignments. You are observed during Volunteer Hours.
At Twelve, you become an adult. After all the Volunteer Hour observing, the Elders select an Assignment for you. You are called up one at a time and given your Assignment. Then you go into training.

Appearance: Her hair is short and blonde; she has green eyes, unusual and somewhere between the pale eyes of Givers and dark eyes of normal people
Personality: Calm, smart, a bit abrasive at first.
Mentionable backstory: Lately, she has become suspicious about this "release" they do...

Assignment: Drone Pilot
Appearance: (In color) longish light blonde hair usually in a ponytail, dark green eyes.
Personality: quiet, doesn't have a lot to say. Not shy, just not very social. Her assignment has become her life goal, to succeed and never make a mistake. She thinks that her usefulness to the community is her entire reason to work.
Mentionable Backstory: always very lonely as a child, though she never mentions it.
Lydia says nyth. No it's not night Lydia, it's almost lunchtime.

Welp I do have a lot on my plate, but The Giver! C'mon, how am I supposed to resist?
Name: Astrid
Number: 6
Age: 11 (If we're starting on the day of the ceremony, then turning 12)
Assignment: I'd like it to be Nurturer when she gets it. That'll be fun when she learns about the Releases.
Family Unit: She has parents, of course, and a younger brother called Rowan who is a Six.
Appearance: She's quite tall for her age, and of average build due to the carefully regulated diet that is provided. Astrid has stick-straight hair that, if you could see it with colors, would be dark brown. Her eyes are thin, tracing upwards like a butterfly wing, and spaced rather far apart, in amber hue. Astrid's nose is long, birdlike, and dotted with freckles as if someone sprinkled cinnamon across her face.
Personality: Gentle and talkative. Isn't shy, but often gets lost in her own thoughts and appears to be. She loves people and is blissfully oblivious to the darker sides of the community's life.
Mentionable Backstory: Uhm, I can't really think of one right now.
Also, it's been a while since I've read the books, so forgive me if I stumble over the finer details of the community's orginization and such.

"Who wants to go first for the Sharing of Dreams?" I ask. My daughter grins. "Mabel?"
"I had a dream about my comfort animal," she says. "It spoke, and told me a story."
"What story did it tell?" asks my spouse, a male named Jonathan.
"It told Mother's story," says Mabel. "About the mouse and the cat and the pot of fat."
"The one where the cat pretends to be going to visit a new child, but is really stealing fat from the pot?"
"Uh-huh."
"Perhaps," I say, "the dream was alluding to the anger you felt when your male classmate took a banana home from the Recreation Center yesterday."
"Maybe," Mabel ponders. "He was being greedy."
"As was the cat."
"Right!"
"Mother?" asks Jonathan.
"Last night," I say, my story all ready, "I had a dream in which I lied. I had gone swimming in the river instead of reporting to work. I was put before the court and said I had been there all day."
"Why?" asks Mabel. "Why didn't you tell them you were swimming?"
"I don't know," I reply. "It was, after all, a dream."
After Jonathan tells his dream, we start getting ready for the Ceremony today. As I tie Mabel's hair ribbons, I remember what th Council told me last night, about a new Reciever. I wonder who it will be.

Name: Mabel, but everyone calls her either Mabel or Mabel Rose(middle name)
Number: 12
Age: Eleven
Family Unit: Has no brother yet. Is about to be granted one at the Ones ceremony.
Assignment: Unknown, yet(Can she become a Reciever?)
Appearance: If in color, she would appear with light ish brown eyes and fair skin. Her hair is black and wavy and she has freckles.
Personality: Shy, can be brave and fierce if provoked. Hardly ever chastised. (I think like five times in her whole life.) Very friendly and caring.
Mentionable Backstory: Always wanted to be a Birthmother, but felt ashamed when her mother told her "you better not." Her father was Released(court issues, he used to work as a Nurtrer) a few months ago, and she desperately wants to make him proud. Her mother works as a Doctor. I'd like her brother to become a Nurtrer as well, if I can :) Also, he would have light brown wisps of hair and dark deep eyes.
