CB Spirit Solo Write

This is a solo write slightly based off of the Werecreature RP, where CBers gain the power to assume the form of an animal at will. Maybe you were thinking about it as you went to sleep one night…

...and woke up in a beautiful garden the next day. You don't know why you're there, or what you should do. As you explore the garden, though, finding new friends (and enemies) all along the way, you have a feeling something bigger might be going on here...

I’ll accept 11 CBers, maybe one and two more if they don’t apply too late. No two people can have the same animal. Here’s the sheet:

CB Name:

Appearance as human:

Personality:

Animal:

Heightened abilities:

Anything extra:

The plot will be developed as we go along; I already have an idea for this.

A few things:

1.) All people who join will be MCs, but the ones who joined first will likely be featured more.

2.) No diary entries or other pieces, please. This is written by me, a solo write.

3.) I will not accept anyone after all the spots have been filled, unless you ask very nicely. Absolutely NO one can join after I've cut it off.

Their eyes fluttered open to the muffled sound of singing birds, the feathered animals' voices calling back and forth to each other. Sitting up, they suddenly realized they had no idea where they were. What was this place?... it was a beautiful garden, to say the least. But it was also scarily unfamiliar. How… how did I get here? Pressing their palm to their forehead, they racked their thoughts, trying to think of how they would have arrived here.

Finally they stood up and slid off the perfectly made bed they had woken up on, hesitantly stepping onto the dewy grass.
“Hello, there,” a voice suddenly said, echoing off the domed, glass ceiling yet ringing in their ear. They jumped, spinning around in search of the person who was speaking. The voice was changed so they couldn’t tell age, gender, anything at all. The disembodied voice laughed, a sound like a chiming bell. “You must have several questions, I expect. Unfortunately… I may not have all the answers. Or maybe I do? Either way, this is something you will need to learn for yourself.”

They waited in confusion, but the voice wasn’t appearing to continue their speech. Slowly, they looked around them. They could feel a sharp, cold wind blowing from their left, but a sultry and warm one was swirling from their right. They sighed, shaking their head. It did seem they’d have to do this on their own. They took a step towards the warmer air when a few last words from the voice startled them, setting their heart beating fast again.

“Oh, one more thing. Welcome to the Garden of Fallacia.”

OH. MY. GOODNESS.

THAT WAS AWESOME.

The ending- you're a master storyteller. You ought to be proud of what you've created.

@ Lucy B and General Waffleson

I'm sorry to both of you, but you can't join this solo write because it is completed, finished, it's all over now. The posts above were the last parts on this thread. You can join my new solo write though! It's on Inkwell right now.

Oh yeah! My apologies that I never cleared that up, everyone.

Vox/Azraell, as a Cquerrian, is a shapeshifter, able to take any form they choose. When Kestrel went up to the Garden-room-thing, Vox was going through the shapes of everyone in the group because they were finally beginning to think they might escape the Garden (more of their power returning). Shapeshifting into any imaginable form is one of Cquerria's best talents, and they were testing it out. :) Kestrel just came in at a bad time!

Oh. My. Goodness.

That was AMAZING!!!! I loved this, it was suspenseful, exiting, touching, it made me want to cry. Wow. I feel like a I just finished a really good book, and that's saying something. When I finish a good book or book series, I feel like I've lost a part of myself, as well as gained one, and don't know what to do with myself. Even though I wasn't in this solo write, you managed to take me on an adventure of a lifetime--I will never forget it. And the ending, aw man! How DO you do it, cloud!?? I'll will DEFINITELY be joining the next one! :D

Whew! Finally found the time to read the end of this.

That was so brilliant, Cloud! Quite a plot twist, and I adored it. I'm guessing I'm a little late to join your sequel, but I may just have to read along anyway. Fantastic!

Nice work, Clouded! This was a lot of fun to read.

I'm still a bit unclear about the Garden-- what is it, exactly? Why did Vox bring them all there? Why do the animals evaporate when killed? How is it that Ember is alive, when she died? Thank you! :)

I'm happy to answer your questions! If you couldn't already tell, Cquerrians were a plot point that I didn't develop until about halfway through the story, but I do like them a lot.

1. The Garden is basically a kind of 'secret Garden' kind of place, techincally on Earth but still hidden from all humans. If it makes any sense, it basically exists on a different plane just barely above Earth's (so it is finite, despite being much larger than any human would be used to.

2. Over the course of time, the spell Nadav put on the charm that kept Vox tethered to the Garden began slipping, growing less powerful that is, and restricting less of Vox's own power. At that point, Vox had been trapped, alone and without any connection to their home and species or any power to speak of (when they had been at a god's level before), and had gone basically insane. Without much rhyme or reason, they chose humans from Earth in a desperate bid to feel some form of control over something again. Earth is closest to the plane the Garden is on, otherwise they likely would have chosen other species.

3. I'll assume you're talking about the wolves and leopards, both of whom were created by Vox instead of being flesh and blood animals. When Danie attacked them, which was after the time Ember died and at the point where Vox was beginning to lose energy and power, in addition to later cutting off the silencing spell on Kestrel, they also just got rid of the wolves, as before they had only served as lackeys for Vox.

4. And last question, one I'm curious no one else asked about- how was Ember alive in the epilogue, when she died during the story? This might get a bit convoluded and confusing, so I'll try to explain- all their adventures in the Garden were on another plane of existance, so when Vox brought them into the Garden, they were... split. There were living versions who existed on Earth plane, and then there were the magically-inclined, silver-animal-charm versions who were on the Garden. Just imagine it like opening a book and reading about characters, so in a way it really was their story. When Vox destroyed the Garden's plane, the Garden-versions of everyone returned to the Earth plane, so Ember was only dead in the story- never in the place where she really lived. Whoo! Hope that helped explain and clear some things up.
