Aliza and Caroline

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Aliza and Caroline

Aliza and Caroline A.  are together in a fantasy short story.

Rules:
1. No fighting.
2. No taking over the story.  Work it out with your partner so you can both do the story equally.
3. Keep the story PG.
4. GloWorm says to always keep to your genre, but I disagree: if you really want to, change genres.

I hope you don't mind me making our own TAPM thread, BellaTrix, but you seemed busy.

Yay! OK, so shall we start planning? Should our story be in another world? I kind of want it to be, or at least in a parallel world to ours, that has magic. What do you think? Just to warn you, I'm going to be gone for four weeks this summer: June 28--July 25

Oops. Just realized that I repeated myself last time. Anyway, maybe we could rent a world from the World Rentals thread if we aren't sure. I rented Pirocks's world, but I also really liked Annie's world, Delvangar. Also, how do you feel on the subject of inter-world portals? I like them, but feel that there should be limitations or obstacles to using them. Can't wait to start!

Yeah, Annie's world looks neat! I hadn't gone onto that rental thread yet. One of us could be a guide or something out in the far reaches of the bejeweled tunnels! Maybe, closer into the market-area, you can tell where you are because there is only one kind of gemstone in the walls (i.e.: quartz, emerald), but the farther you go out, the more variety (and the more branchings) until you're just walking through a rainbow. And possibly the market has all the gems, too. Though I would assume that the inhabitants eye's would see much better in the dark, wouldn't it be neat if their light source came from the jewels? That there was some sort of magic in them that caused them to glow in their respective colors? Wow--when I was talking about the tunnels and the inhabitants' eyes, I got this weird sense of déjà vu! I think I had some sort of dream like this....

I like the idea of the gems being a light source. Also, if they had fires, there would be a buildup of smoke and fumes, making it difficult to breathe in an underground city-nation. I don't think being a guide would work- unless there's some sort of secret in one of the more distant tunnels that he/she discovers?

The idea of the types/colours of stone could be interesting, perhaps the jewels in the center are a more common type, say  quartz, and they get rarer as you go farther out.
