I have a few more questions before I write my bit.

You may not think this is important, but it kind of is for me.

Are hospital rooms wards, semi-private, or private, or all of the above?

Are pets allowed?

Is it summer? Or do they have school? Does that hospital have a schooling program or etc?

Are there group activities for teens and kids in the hospital?

My brain gears are going. Sorry, when that happens questions start pouring out of my mouth.

Just think of it as fleshing out the lifestyle there.

I don't mind! :D

Let me see...

I'd say about semi-private. They don't just allow wackos from off the street to enter, but the patients (the ones who are well enough of course) are allowed in (as long as the spoken patient isn't in critical condition), and of course family. Friends must have references from family members to get in.

No pets, as some of the patients are allergic (some could even be there BECAUSE of pets! ;))

I'd say it's about beginning of fall. No school for most (especially the mentally ill ones, such as Iris and Lunete and Jordan), but some of them do take out textbooks and run through them (Iris, ex.). The hospital does have a small summer camp, with crafts and handmade diys, but not many people ever sign up.

Can you explain what you mean by group activites? Do you mean like Girl Scouts kind of thing? Or more like the summer camp I explained above?

Hope this helps, Inktail.

Ok. Btw, what I meant my semi-private was the amount of people occupying the room. Semi-private would mean that there are two to three roommates. A ward would be three or more patients occupying the room. Private would of course mean one person.

But I know what you mean, and I like the stuff about visitors.

No pets? Ok. That's fine.

Fall. Alrighty. Um, do you mind if my character home schools herself?

By group activities, I mean like clubs, or pinics(sounds corny, I know), just basially things that the teens can do to relieve the stress of being in the hospital.

Oh! Okay. *facepalm*

Well, yeah, of course that's fine! :D

Every so often, but not really...I didn't think about that! :P:P

I suppose that yeah, there could be clubs and stuff, just not orgainized by the hospital, by the patients. And there's a semiannual picnic in summer and winter, maybe?

Cat~

I see a nurse hovering over me, asking a question.

"What's your name?" she asks.

"Cat," I whisper hoarsely.

I immediately regret talking, my lungs and chest burn and ache. It feels like there is a giant anvil sitting on me, slowly crushing me to death.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  later
1 broken arm
1 broken leg
3 broken ribs
Severely bruised organs
The doctor reads the list out to me... was it really that bad? It felt like it. I was in my own room now, dozens of monitors and tubes were attached to me. I can see the wheelchair girl outside my room, waiting for the doctor to leave. When he finally finished telling me what was going to happen (hospitalization for about three months), he gave me a smile and left. The girl poked her head in the door.
"Hi, I'm Iris."
Iris~
My curiosity was annoyingly piqued, and after I finished puzzling over Jordan, I headed to that girls room I had seen her wheeled into. The doctor was talking to her, and I waited until he stepped out to ask him.
"May I see her?" He nodded absentmindedly and scurried off. I entered through the door, clumsily rolling my chair through the door.
"I'm Iris," I said shyly.
"Cat," she said awkwardly.
"May I come in?" I said, halfway through the door. She nodded and I finished rolling in, shutting the door carefully behind me.
Nodding to the tubes, I spoke. "You'll get used to them eventually," giving her a small smile.
Here's my bit:
~Mary
I felt just wonderful. Hear my voice just drip with sarcasm. Just lovely. Which was becoming the 'norm' these days. Sharp pains in my joints, a little sick to my stomach, weak, and tired. The works. Not to mention hungry. Somebody forgot to ask me if I wanted breakfast.
Eight o'clock in the morning I was ousted from my bed, with a headache no less, and driven forty to minutes to this new hospital.
I think my Dad went in and got me a wheelchair, cause I'm in one now. Then my Mom rolled me through the sliding glass doors into the reception lobby. I'm still here. The lights are so crazy bright. I'd rather not open my eyes.
After sitting there for about half an hour, while my parents did paper-work or something at the reception desk, I finally opened my eyelids.
There was a few people in the waiting room, probably waiting to see an ER doctor. But other than that I was alone in my corner. I spied a tv near the ceiling on the other side of the room. It was broadcasting a silent newscast. I couldn't read the little yellow subtitles flit across the tiny screen.
Then someone was messing with my wrist and saying something.
My gaze moved as if in a dream to my wrist. The person's words slowly came back into focus. My younger brother Elliot was fixing a teal hospital band on my wrist. My mom was the one talking. She was speaking in an irritatingly soft voice. "Sweety? You're brother is going to take you to your new room. Your father and I will get your things and sign some papers."
"More papers?" I asked. Mom smiled and sighed wearily. She kissed my forehead and said, "We'll be back in a few minutes." She and Dad left, and Elliot reappeared in my sight line. He smiled and I ruffled his dark brown hair. "Come on, sis," he said and turned my wheelchair. He wheeled me to the main door to the hospital.  There was a smiling red-haired woman in a nurse's scrub, clutching a clip-board. "Follow me," she said. She quickly turned on her heel and pushed open the door, holding for Elliot to push me through.
She led us a little ways into the hospital's interior before turning into the children's branch. Then to a small room. "This is your temporary room until the Doc finishes your testing."
Then she turned and started to close the door behind her. She pointed a small phoneline mounted on the wall. "Call me if you need me. Just ask for Artemis. Your parents will be here shortly."
There was a bed in the middle of the room and a couple of chairs and a cabinet. The lights were, thankfully, rather dim. Elliot helped me out of the wheelchair and into the bed. I wrapped the white blanket around me.  Elliot plopped down into one of the availed seats. I searched his face. He was trying to fake it, but he was scared. And that contagiously made me scared.
Ok, I probably need to fill you in a bit. This is one of the rare times I will do something like this in my travels.
A couple weeks ago I got another one of those 'normal' infections that I get about once every year. Nothing serious, just feeling like a boring flu(but not) and needed some antibiotics. But this time was different(as I say so cliche-like) . I got the antibiotics as easy as pie, over the counter. I took them faithfully and drank plenty of fluids. But I didn't seem to get better at all for a week or so. Then of course, my dad panicked as he always does, and took me to the nearest ER.
I got a prescription antibiotic and blood tests (just lovely, I know). I stayed there overnight (weirdest night of my life!). Then was sent home. Still didn't get much better. Then the ER doc called us in the middle of dinner. And what a wonderful announcement. Bad things are about to happen to me! Well, all he said was to meet at an appointment.
Very long story short, the doc announced that I had some sort of leukemia, but they weren't sure what. So they referred me to this hospital for more testing and treatment. Then my family doc prescribed more meds and here I am, slowly recovering from my infection. But still not very sure what's going on. In my opinion, I'm taking the news very well indeed. Not so much of my parents. But I'll admit it. I'm scared.
Sorry that was soooo ridiculously long. I tend to start off like that. Anyway, I can't wait to read what happens next in everything.
~Molly
I have been in this hospital for 4 years. I have seen patients come and go, but never one like that new girl Cat. When I was eating breakfast, they rolled her past my room, bruised and battered. I made up my mind to go visit her.
~~~~~~

Artemis helped me into my wheelchair, and I started moving towards the new girl's room. When I got there, Iris was already there. "Welcome to the hospital" I said to Cat.

~Alex

This afternoon, my sister wasn't in her room. I don't know why.

~Molly

That was interesting. She Wouldn't talk to me!?!

Cat wouldn't talk to me because she has leukemia and it hurts for her to talk. Artemis just explained that to me from behind he algebra notes. You know, i've never really noticed it, but  Jordan is kind of cute.
