Raise your hand

Raise your hand

Raise your hand if you don't like shopping.  *Raises tongue, nose, ears, arms and legs off the ground*  I don't like shopping.

My mom and I went shopping for almost TWO hours today.  To get NEW clothes for the first time in YEARS.  Then we had to get deodorant and other things.  THEN we went to the grocery store.

PURE torture.  AAH.  *Breaths in and out deeply*  And Autumn and Luna got to stay home.  :(  They got to get sprayed with cold water.  I didn't.  :(

The only good thing is I got shorts.  Three pairs.  Now I'll finally have shots that actually fit!!!!  Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!  (TOO MANY EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I like shopping, but if I do it for too long it gives me a headache.  I used to hate it, but unfortunately, I love pretty things, and going shopping is my chance to see pretty things.  :D

Although, I prefer to shop in small towns, where they have little boutiques, instead of super chain stores.  Like, Sebastopol is one of my favorite places to shop.  All the people are friendly, and it's sort of a hippy community, so there's a lot of cool heathy natural stuff.  :D

I kinda like shopping, but only if it is for a short amount of time. I usually go shopping for clothes(which is thankfully not often) with my sister. She spends about half the day looking for one shirt or whatever she is looking for, and sometimes she dosen't find anything. To me that is a lot of wasted time when I could be reading, or thinking of something else other than the store we are in.

I enjoy shopping for me. (Clothes, etc.) But probably not for more than an hour and a half at a time.

We muSt be twin sisters parted at birth, Adina!  Nothing fits me either.  I don't like that.  That's bad for people when nothing fits them.  I HATE SHOPPING.  I have the curse of the love-to-shop-and-spoil-grandma.  And again, I HATE SHOPPING.

P.S. I HATE SHOPPING!!!!!!

P.S.S I HATE SHOPPING.

P.S.S.S.  I ABSOLUTELY LOATH SHOPPING!!!!!!!

P.S.S.S.S SHOPPING IS EVIL!!!!!!!!

P.S.S.S.S.S I didn't mean to put this on Inkwell.  I thought I put it on Down to Earth.

I hate shopping. Hate it with every fiber of my tightly compacted being. Despise it. Wouldn't mind if clothing stores all burned to the ground with all their merchandise. And if their warehouses burned. That would be nice. I hate it. Pure torture, like you said.  After maybe three minutes of wandering between racks of clothing, my eyes begin to glaze over and I gradually become limp. By the time we get to the fitting rooms, I'm barely conscious. If we don't get out quickly, I go into emergency mode. (Just kidding about most of that. But seriously, I hate shopping.) I never understood people who do it for fun.

*Raises all body parts that are not typing* Shopping is one of my very, very least favorite activities. Well, except at really cool stores that don't sell clothes.

Shopping isn't as horrible as you make it out to be- I mean, it can be a waste of time and I have better things to do, but you do need new clothes or groceries or whatever every now and then. I don't go out of my way to avoid it, but I don't obsess over it or even do it particularly often. But, whatever, if maybe twice a year I need a new pair of shoes, I'll go to Payless, and then on the way home maybe I can persaude my mom to buy ice cream or something. And then it's not a complete and utter waste of my afternoon.

*raises hand* Except in bookstores or the Apple store, of course. ;) I can spend hours in a Borders or Apple store- much to the dismay of my *darling* sister, the socialite.

Wow! I'm NOT ALONE!!! I thought I was the only eleven-year-old girl on the face of the earth who does not like shopping!!! *flies off the ground in effort to raise every body part can think of*

Okay, I do like shopping at bookstores. But NOWHERE else!!!

This is an overreaction. Yes, malls are stuffy and crowded and loud and yes, they give me a headache as well. Bookstores are the only stores that actually offer any peace of mind. Most others stores are commercialized and glittery. Food stores are torture, department stores are annoying. The stores themselves are all actually rather irksome.

But the shopping, stores aside, is a necessary part of life in this age. Eating vegetables is annoying (to me, anyhow), but that doesn't mean I shouldn't do it. And shopping may not be something you enjoy, but face it, if "all stores, their merchandise, and their warehouses burned down," our lives would be a lot more complicated than they need to be.

Please don't get me wrong; I'm not addicted or blatantly in disfavour of, I just think that in moderation, shopping is something we simply couldn't do without. Sometimes it annoys me too, but I only have to do it every so often, and I figure, if I go the rest of my life without doing this and I need a winter coat or new shoes or something, and it's just a few hours of my day, why should I complain? It's not the end of the world, and who knows, maybe there will be something interesting, or I'll see someone I know, or we'll buy ice cream on the way home.

Okay, was that even vaguely coherent? This is a complicated subject.

The only stores I don't mind are bookstores and sometimes goodwill.  I have to be tortured by mom at goodwill.  "Look at clothes in this ile, Meadow.  Stay in the same ile as me."  I hate shopping for clothes.  She also makes me get in an area were nothing fits me.  :(  Its like for eight year olds.  But then when I am in a place htt has stuff that might fit me, nothing fits.  At all.  And also at goodwill I can look at books!!!!  And five dallar bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My new bikes handles have poison ivy on them now.  I might have to wash them off.  If my mom thinks I nead more clothes, she makes me go to goodwill.  Sometimes she only allows me to look at clothes and shoes.  :(  Most of my clothes are from  goodwill.  OR from friends.  We normaly get used clothes.  I don't care that I have used clothes because when I get them stained, (Which I do that a lot) then I don't fell guilty.

Yeah, I see your point, but we're not trying to abolish shopping. I know it's a necessary part of life. We're just... complaining. Rather loudly. And maybe a bit overreactively. :)

Hmm, I haven't shopped in a while. But then Tonda, my mother says I need a new bathing suit, and we're going shopping next weekend. And I'm like, "Grrreat... do we have to?"

*grin* So yes, I still retain my earlier opinion, but I get your point. ;)
