Hi!

An RP is like a big group story. Everyone pitches in a character and they work together to write something. Usually there's a set charrie sheet for you to design your character, and people take turns writing for their character's POV. There's a lot of etiquette involved, including (a particular pet peeve of mine) god-modding, which is basically controlling someone else's character extensively.

When you see an RP that only has a few posts on it, or where they haven't started writing yet, all you have to do is complete the charrie sheet that would be in the beginning post of the thread.

Hope that helped!

Ok. An RP is short for a role play. You basically create a character, or "charrie", and write sections of the story from the point of view of your charrie. Other people write other parts, and the plot can change dramatically from day to day! You can join an RP by simply creating your charrie sheet in the way that the directions specify.  Important: DO NOT join an RP that has already started unless the creator says that it is all right! An example of a charrie sheet may look like this:

Name:

Age:

Gender:

Appearance:

Personality:

Other:

You just fill it in. The creator may not have something that is on here or may have something else, so just listen to them. It is their RP, after all.

@Older, more experienced CBers;

Did I get this right? Feel free to add on or correct.

@A curious person, if you have any more questions, just look at this thread:

Happy RPing!

Thanks! One more thing, when you join an RP do you have to write parts of it?

I am not really a good writer, but I would love to join an RP.

Yes, you definitely will have to write parts of it. But don't worry! The more RPs you take part in, the better you'll get. I'd suggest reading some RPs taking place right now if you want to pick up some more tips or strategies.

Generally, yes. You are expected to write parts of the RP along witht he other CBers. However, don't worry! The fractions you write don't have to be super duper long, and in rare cases they might even be a piece of dialogue. You also do not have to be an absolutely amazing author to join an RP. None of us are perfect storytellers yet, and RPs help us get better. You will be expected to keep up pretty regularly, so don't join anything you won't be committed to.

Hope this helps :)
