Theater RPG 2:

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Theater RPG 2:

Theater RPG 2: The Talent Show
~
Actually, it began as a talent show. It began as a fundraiser for the Theater, so that Peter Caminski could put it back on the map. It began as one of the many ideas of a strange but endearing 14-year-old. But it didn’t stay that way. It became a magnet that pulled 9 very special kids together, and bound them forever, for better or worse. The auditions are in the past. The names are up. The rehearsals have begun. Are you ready?
~
WHAT’S UP MY FAVE THESPIANS??? I’m bringing this back! But I’m making a few changes.
Goodbye Angelica Trent…Angel…whatever your name was. I’m sticking with 1 character, and that’s Peter. However, Angel might appear as a school bully occasionally. So remove her from your memory, she did not come to the theater and won’t any time soon.
Goodbye Caminski’s Chills. The ice cream place can now be called whatever, but since Caminski is Peter’s last name that he kept, and not his adoptive parents, the ice cream place will no longer share his name. Ahhh, the complications of backstories.
Goodbye confusion! Here’s a little summary of how Peter and Anelia are related. They’re sister and brother, born in Poland to a broken family which split apart when the siblings were pretty young. Peter ended up in America. His father, who suffered from multiple health issues, died of a heart attack while Peter and him were at the circus. One of the performers (Leah) took Peter aside to comfort him. The day after the incident, Peter’s father died, leaving Peter completely alone in the world. After hearing his story, the headstrong young woman refused to leave Peter, and opted to quit her job to raise him, which was no easy task. When she moved to Mableton, she fell in love with the owner of a popular ice cream store (my brain is dead. Names will come later), and, well…it didn’t take too long for Peter to have a family again. During those first few years in Mableton, Peter and Rowan became friends, but the friendship dissolved after Rowan’s mother remarried. Then he met Anelia, his one link to the past, in the very city of Mableton, and his life turned upside down.
HELLO new charries! No one else can participate in the talent show unless we have some dropouts (so sorry), but there will be many places to add new characters into the plot. Does your charrie do sound and lights? Is he/she attached to the theater like Peter? Does he/she go to Mableton Public Highschool (or middle school)? I am totally open to any new characters.
HELLO new storylines! We can make this plot as complex and wonderful as we want, just keep it realistic fiction.
I hope to see some old friends and new faces! We are starting right after Peter and Anelia have shared their stories with their newfound friends and teammates at the announcing of the names.
I also posted a sketch I made of Anelia (Elementgirl's charrie) on the art posting thread. I'm not that good at drawing, but I can't resist a doodle (or two...or three...) during math class.

Okay Violet is starting to develop a crush on Peter, and I mean a big crush.....

~Violet~

I glance a Toad, and gives him a look that says: "Our closest friend is not here yet, so look out the door and see if he is here!" He manages to look out of the door, he turns to me a shakes his head. I sigh, then look at Peter's empty seat. He either is late or sick, and sick would not be good becuase it is the Talent Show Casting Celebration, and first practice. If he is sick that would be terrible becuase I planned on bringing cookies that I baked myself, not to brag.

"Ms. Violet! What does x equal in x4•45÷5=9?" Mr. Smith asked me. I strated blushing in embarrassment. I study the math problem hard. "Violet we are waiting," so I get up and walk to the board.

"This is easy the x = x, duh. " I write on the board.

"Violet! Give us the answer!" Mr. Smith snaps, getting annoyed. "You have to find the answer for x."

"No, no, no! You asked me what x equals and x equals the same as x,"

"I guess you are correct....x does equal x......" Mr. Smith mutters as I rush to my seat.  The door creeks open I lean to see who it is, it is Peter, I wave my hand as he does his 'secret handshake' with Toad.

"Mr. Camanski, nice of you to join us," Mr. Smith sneers. Peter takes a seat at his desk.

"Look! His socks are not matching!" Angel burst out laughing Brian just stares at his socks.

___

At lunch it goes much better.

"I bet your mom can't wait to meet Anelia, she will adore her!" Toad says with his mouth stuffed, I nodded while I dig into my meatloaf. Peternal just sits there quietly.

"Who cares if your socks are mismatched, mine are always mismatched," I assure him. I shakes his head.

"It wasnt that, it was how Brianna just stared at my feet....." Peter explains.

"Well that was the past! Peter you have to get over it....." Toad says.

"Yeah and, Angel is just like that, she is just ----" I pause.

"I'm what? What am I like?" Angel stops by our table. " She was probably going to say awesome."

"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" Toad stutters.

"Oh look Mr. Mismatched is here to!" Angel teases. I glare at her.

"Shut Up!" I yell.

"Okay, I am going, bye!" She walks off.

Rosebud: We're seeing each other for the first time in a year! And of course, we're making a LOTR/Hamilton video and posting on the CB. Y'all have to watch our video if it ever posts on the web! It's called LOTR/Hamilton parody and about everyone's fave Mirkwood Elf...except, I'm not a huge Legolas fan so my part goes: "I'm takin' this horse by the reigns, oops, I fell off, that wasn't s'possed to happen!" Okay, enough about LOTR.

Autumn: They're taking the hobbits to Isengar-

Saphira: OH MY GOODNESS SHUT UP I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO YOU DO THAT FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS!!!!

Autumn: Sorry...... ANYWAYS hi everyone, I know I haven't been on in FOREVER (and you have every right to throw me in a puddle of mud for that) but I wanted to join this rp because it's Rosebud's and it looked fun! I'm going to create some charries and try my best to fit into the story, (even though it's a bit late). Ok, done rambling. Missed you guys!

Luke~

Mom usually drives me to school, because she doesn't think I'm "fit" enough to walk there on my own, even though it's just a few blocks. It's no bother for her, because it's on her way to work, but today she has to be there especially early for something I didn't inquire about, meaning I get to go to school on my own!

On my way there, I make sure to commit everything to memory. I know the streets all right, but I haven't seen them close-up for a long time, just the blurred vision of the identical, subdivided houses in their neat rows. I make sure to look at every poster, every sign, every barking dog. Missing girl - house for sale - talent show.

I do a double take. Talent show?! Why would someone host a talent show here, in the middle of nowhere? I snatch up the poster. "Are you a talented kid looking for special opportunities? Sign up for the Mableton Talent Show hosted at the Mableton Theater. Winners will receive two free ice cream coupons to _____'s Chills along with a special surprise! Signups begin December 30th. Talk to Peter Caminski or call (fak-enu-mber). See you onstage!"

I sigh. Sign-ups have probably long passed - not that I have anything to show, anyway. Mom and dad won't let me near anything that could possibly overexert me. Still, a good production needs a stage crew, right? I grin. I think I know Peter; he's in one of my classes. I'll talk to him today and find out if he needs some backstage help.

Brianna~

"No. I am not."

"Brianna, it'll be good for you. You need to meet new people."
"I know everyone in this stupid town. It's too small for me to not know everyone!"
"You know them," dad sighs, "but do you know anything about them? You might be surprised at what you find!"
"Right." I roll my eyes, flopping on my bed and turning on the stereo so Nervana floods through the room, drowning out whatever my father says next.

He shoves open the door, causing the pink beads hung on it to clatter. "Brianna, if you don't go of your own free will, I am perfectly entitled to using my parental authority to make you talk to this Peter Caminski and volunteer to help."
I glower at him. "And what'll I do? Sing with my marvelous voice?"
"You can design costumes for the performers."
Honestly, that sounds great. I perk up slightly. Nobody really knows that the clothes I wear are homemade, but I get a lot of compliments. If the talent show gets really popular, everyone would see my designs on a stage!

Of course, I can't let dad see that, or else he'll think he's won. I snort. "Fine. Whatever."
I don't think I fooled him, because he raises an eyebroow before leaving me in peace again.

I walk to the theater most of the little kids stare at me, I think I look like demon to them, especially since I have my contacts that make my eyes all white. I hate it when people stare, and all the parents pull their children back, when they see me. So I start running, closing my eyes to the theater, chok ing back the tears. When I get to the entrance to the theater, I just stare at the door.

"Do I really want to go? Do I want more people to judge me by my looks? Do I really --- " I get interupted by a girl with tan skin and a messy black bun.

"Hi!" She greets me with a cheerful wave. "I like your hair!" I smile back.

"Thanks!" I point to her bag, "I like your bag!" She looks to her bag.

"Thanks! I made it myself, you could make you one!"

"That would be awesome!"

Hi guys...... YES I KNOW I HAVEN'T BEEN ON IN FOREVER AND I MISSED YOU GUYS OODLES AND IF MY VIRTUAL ARMS WERE BIG ENOUGH I WOULD HUG YOU ALL BUT IT'S THE CB SO I'LL DO IT ANYWAYS.

Missed you guys ;)

Ok, so, warning, this is really long. I just got super inspired with these charries and got totally carried away with their sheets..... SORRY FOR MAKING YOU HAVE TO SLOG THROUGH ALL OF THIS. I'll post in a bit, and do my best with following the storyline correctly!

Name: Clarissa (Most people call her Claire) Fortenso

Age: 15

Appearance: Pretty, with long, curly, dark brown hair, dark skin, and bright green eyes. Is rather short for her age, about 5’1. Wears dark blue, plastic-rimmed glasses (can wear contacts if needed), and has a small, silver full moon pendant that she always wears around her neck. Has gone to a special effort to try to wear “Normal” clothes like jeans and t-shirts instead of the fancy, expensive clothing that her mother would rather see her in.

Personality: Shy, timid, but passionate. Claire is not a generally brave person, but she is always willing to take risks for what she believes. She’s learned to blend into a crowd, and usually tries to avoid attention. She loves to read, and can almost imagine that music is telling her a story that only she can here. Needless to say, she doesn’t tell anyone else about this, as it would brand her as extremely weird.

Something she is hiding: Claire goes to a fancy private school in upstate New York and she hates it. She would rather go to school in Mableton with her friend, Quenton, then have to survive the daily torment of a bunch of snobby, self important rich kids. (disclaimer: not saying that all rich kids are snobby and self important, Claire’s a rich kid for Pete’s sake, just saying that these kids are.) Claire would rather go to a normal school and eat crummy cafeteria food and have friends, which is part of the reason she wants to do the talent show, to be normal.

Talents: Claire very musically talented, and wants to become a musician. She plays piano pretty well, and can carry a basic tune with pretty much any instrument you hand her. However, she absolutely loves to play clarinet, and is really good at it. She’s not good at any other art forms, though, and is otherwise pretty average.

Other: (Warning, super long backstory ahead that is not entirely necessary, but you probably should read.) Claire’s family is wealthy, successful, and upper class. While the rest of her family held no interest in the arts, Clarissa discovered her love of music in the second grade when her fancy private school did a semester long music course. In the third grade, her reluctant parents allowed her to take up the clarinet, and it became her passion. In the fourth grade, her music teacher informed her rather surprised parents that Claire was one of the most musically talented children that she had ever taught. Unfortunately, Claire’s parents did not support her love of music, assuming it was “Just a phase” and shouldn’t be taken seriously, and Claire always wanted to find a way to prove that she was truly passionate about it. One day, her friend Quenton, who lived in Mableton, sent her a talent show flier in the mail. Claire recognized this as her chance to prove to her parents that she truly loved music, and so swallowed her fears and signed up. However, she signed up too late, and had given up hope until she got a call informing her that several contestants had to drop out, and offering her a spot. Long story short, she auditioned and got the part, and is now nervously waiting for the first day of the talent show.

Name: Quenton Blake

Age: 16

Appearance: Quenton has curly, light brown hair, a big smile, and mischievous hazel eyes. His face is dotted with a few freckles, and he has a long, thin scar running from his left ear to his chin. Has the slim, muscled build of a gymnast. He usually wears casual clothes like t-shirts, jeans, and converses. He always wears a shark tooth necklace around his neck.

Personality: Generally acts very happy, carefree, likes to laugh and make jokes about things, but he’s also hiding some very deep scars, and tends to put up walls without even knowing it. His family is dysfunctional and broken, and he often dreads going home. His only real friend, who truly knows how broken and hurting he is is Claire, who he knew in New York until his family moved away.

Something he is hiding: Quenton is terrified of horses, because when he was three he was in an accident that gave him his scar. He sometimes has terrifying, vivid dreams about it that are forever imprinted in his brain. His grandparents own a horse farm, and when his family visits he usually stays inside working on a music program or something.

Talents: He is a genius on a soundboard, and loves troubleshooting stages, setting up mics, wiring amps, that sort of thing. He also loves mixing music on programs like logic. St, can he and Luke share the responsibilities of doing all that stuff? I know a bit about both soundboards and setting up stages, and it would be kind of fun to have a character do some of that…… if it’s ok with you, that is. Also, he’s a competitive swimmer, and is quite good at it.

Other: Um, he has eyeballs???? I dunno XD

WOW SORRY THAT WAS SO LONG I GOT A BIT CARRIED AWAY. Ahem, anyways, Killm, do you think that Claire could team up with Julia for the act? Since she’s such a genius with composing, maybe she could compose a duet or something for them to play?

Also, I am totally open to shipping both of my charries. Bluebird, would it be ok if Claire liked Toad? That’s ok if not :D

I hear Anelia and Peter talking about a missing kid.

"What ate we going to do?" Peter asks Anelia urgently. I hear a long sigh. Then I hear crying.

"I don't now Peter....." Anelia's voice is muffled, "All I wanted to do was find my you, my brother, that I love!" I look down, I feel guilty I should have never eavesdropoped on them, but I keep on listening.

"The sighn has  your third grade class photo! It even has your name!" Peter explains, Anelia cries more. "No, don't cry!" Peter pats her head to calm Anelia down. My phone vibrates, I look at it quickly, it is an Amber Alert, for Anelia Camanski. Soon Peter's notification ring rings on, he has the alert to, his eyes widen. I can't stand it anymore, I burst into the room.

"Anelia, I know I place for you to stay."

I'd love to do the crush thing, Brooklyn!

Toad~

Toad was very excited for Peter, and for the upcoming Talent Show Party. Mainly because of that cute violin player... He was really looking forward to seeing her again. Anelia seemed pretty cool, and he knew Peter's mom would love her. Peter, Violet and a few other kids from the theater sat at the table, minding their own business, until Angel decided to show up. Toad didn't hate anyone, but he could say that he strongly disliked that girl.

After she came and said something rude and walked away, as usual, Toad rolled his eyes and finished off his plate. Looking around (mostly for Sarah) he finally spotted her and made a hand motion for her to come sit at their table. She grinned and came over.

"Come sit with the cool kids!" Toad said. She laughed a little at that, setting her lunch down next to him. He could see that her black eye was fading. "So..." Toad started. "How's your piece going?"

"Good," she replied. "You know, you don't seem like a guy who would play the flute."

He laughed. "I've been told. I used to play basketball nearly 24/7, I would've never gotten into music if it weren't for my accident." Uh oh. Just made it awkward, Toad thought. "Um, well, I'm glad I started playing. What about you?" He asked. "Why'd you start violin?

Sarah~

"What about you?" he asked. "Why'd you start violin?"

I feel my face grow cold as I look down at the table. I feel like I just got hit with a tidal wave. He was in an accident? Like...

I clear my throat softly. "My dad wanted to. Play violin, you know. But he never could really make it in music. He started teaching me violin when I was little. Then, one night we were watching AGT, when we saw Lindsey Stirling. Dad watched her dance onstage, then said to me, 'Yous should do that,' So, um. I guess. That's how."

I look up at him. He seemes relieved that I changed the subject. It's strange how much we have in common. However, I really like it.

Tying everything together... Peter and Anelia run into each other after school. Violet sees them. At school, Angel makes fun of Peter's socks. Peter shares the awkward moment with his friends. Is that about right? Also, I know nothing about regular schools and how they work, since I've been homeschooled all my life, so just a heads up that I may get something wrong!

Peter~

"I know a place where you can stay!" Violet bursts out.

"Really?" Anelia gasps, her eyes glowing and happy. She talks to Violet for a few seconds while I sit there, wobbling on my bike, feeling miserable. It had not been an awesome day. First the mismatched socks. Then Angel's teasing, which resulted in Brianna just staring at my socks. I couldn't read her expression; maybe it was disgust. Violet and Toad had laughed about it with me at lunch, and I started feeling a LOT better.

And then I ran into Anelia.

MISSING.

I want to take her home and pull her back into my life. But I can't. Even my parents don't know much about my backstory. They don't know I have a sister, and Mom's not the type who I can turn the tables on really quickly. She would get upset. The plan was to weave Anelia into my new family slowly, step by step. That's selfish. Anelia needs things to happen now. Her big brother should be providing for her. Even though Violet is one of the best friends ever, I should still be the one solving problems!

"It's all set," Anelia's newly cheerful voice breaks into my thoughts.

"Yeah, that's great!" It really is, I try to convice myself. I take a deep breath. Anelia will be fine with Violet. I trust her. Taking a deep breath, I say;

"Who's ready for rehearsal tonight?"

Violet cheers.

~

Fill in as much of the school day as you want to! This is just a tying-it-up post summing up the school day. I'd make it longer, but I'm tired and ready to read some Two Towers and Pride and Prejudice (I know. I'm reading two books that are as different as can be) before bed.

Rosy says: akwd. Yes Rosy, Peter is awkward when Brianna is around. Maybe he'll figure out Violet likes him, but as of now, he's pretty clueless.

That new girl that was asking for name, that was  me, myself, and I. I have Jasmine, btw.

Jasmine__

I sit at rehearsal and practice my lines for theusual I am in. ag Jayleen sat next to me.

"I could help you with your lines," Jayleen offered. I just stared at that colossal case that sat in another seat right next to her. She notices my staring, " oh! That silly thing? That is just my Tuba!" She waved her hand laughing. I nod, still in the thought of how can a instrument be so big? Soon the auditorium filled up with tweens and teens. I make sure my bad eye is covered.

"Um girl! Can you move this dinosaur-instrament?" A boy sassed Jayleen, she turned to him.

"Sorry, but if you can help me move it becuase it is super heavy, then sure!" She said smiling. The boy backed away and shoke is head.

"N-no, I am okay, sorry to bother you," He stuttered and jogged away.

To everyone I just figured out you can put pictures!!!!!! Also at Bluebird, I am learning how to play the flute, I don't fully know how to do it like Toad, just wanted you to know that everyone has a connection to their charries and other charries!

@St: Sounds great! Let's do that.

Also, sorry for the super short posts. I'm short on time and also don't really know what's going on.

Claire~

Claire found subway stations terrifying.

First, there was the hustle and bustle and noise of everyone rushing to and fro, speeding along their own mini train tracks to lives that Claire would never know about.

Then there was the dirt and grime, the graffiti that littered the concrete walls, someone’s leftover chip bag, a discarded shoe lying abandoned on the asphalt.

There were the homeless, staring at the world with such a desperate hopelessness that it made Claire’s heart want to rend in half.

Claire tried to find the music in it all, to make the chaos a bit more bearable. She listened to the swish of a nearby train as it pulled in next to her, then accompanied it with a thousand beating footsteps. The faint notes of a saxophone drifted over from somewhere far away, and Claire was lost, trapped in the song that only she could hear.

Her train whizzed into the station, and Claire was pulled along in the undertow of people. She let it carry her into the train and fortunately, at the last minute, a seat. Settling down as best she could on the hard plastic, Claire pulled out a book, nestled her clarinet case beside her, and began to count the minutes until she would arrive in Mableton.

Quenton~ (everyone calls him Quinn)

I wonder what’s for lunch today?

Quin shuddered as he wrestled his books into his already overstuffed locker. His mom had forgotten to pack him lunch again, and visions of mystery meat covered in cold globs of gravy hovered before his eyes.

Maybe he’d skip lunch.

His mind flashed back to last night, recalling his mom’s sobs as she and his father ended another argument with a slammed door and a shattering of glass as his dad broke something. He felt his stomach plummet from within him as the moment played in his head again…. And again… and again.

His insides writhed, and nausea overtook him.

Maybe he should see the nurse. Maybe he should do something to try to fix his family…..

One of his grandmother’s sayings ran through his mind. You can’t fix something that has never been whole.

His family had never been whole, and on days like this where the previous night felt like some sort of bad dream, he knew that he wasn’t either.

-Violet-

"Are you sure your parents will be okay with knowing?" Anelia quivered, as we walk to my famlies big shed, that could be a small one-room apartment.  I nod.

"Yes, my parents can easily go on with normal life when they hear that Petera, Toad, and I are taking care of a runaway 13 year old from Poland that is living in our shed, after all Peter, Toad and I have went through a lot of things ever since we became friends in Grade School, but if you want, I don't have to tell them," I reasure her. She smiles up at Peter and I.

"Thanks for doing this, you guys are the best. I would have never had an amazing adventure if I never found you Peter, and when you agreed on letting Violet take me, I could have never had a better brother," she says to Peter, she turns around to me, " and you, Violet, I would have been already on the plane to Poland if you haven't eavs dropped on us!" My smiles turns into a frown.

"Don't make me feel more guilty than I already am." I snap. She nods, in saying sorry.

"Thanks Violet, for doing this for us."Peter thanks me. I smile.

"It is nothing, I just did it for Anelia and you," my hand points at the shed, "I cleaned it up before you came, put a matress in it, it already has an outlet so I put a couple lites, for you, Anelia." Anelia races to see it, she let's out a gasp.

"What is it?!" Peter asked frantically. We sprint to the shed, we see Anelia sprawled out on the mattress, smiling.

"This is amazing!!!!" She laughs, as I laugh too. Peter doesn't even smile,  I can see he is thinking about something else. "Peter what is it?"

"Anelia, what about school? Someone could easily spot you and take you to the cops." He says. I remember that picture that looks exactly like Anelia, only younger. Instead of Anelia frowning, she cheers.

"Finally I can see Violet's pranking gear!!! Get out your prank ing box!" Anelia orders me. Not wanting anybody to get mad, I obey. I want to make them happy again so I get a horse head out, but instead of going from the back dor, I go out the front, and climb the fence. "WHAT I'D THAT THING?!?!?" Anelia screams, but Peter just laughs. I take of the rubber horse head and our it in the box.

"It is okay Anelia, horse-head people are not real," I assure her, "now ho is this going to help you?"

"Give me some glasses." I nod and get out three glasses, one with the mustache, one with eyes that buldges out, then last my nerd-glasses, with fake glass on for the lences. She snathe the nerd-glasses and pu them on her. "Now give me fake buck teeth!" I obey, and pull out clean, white teeth, the ones that don't look gross. Anelia looks through her bag that she packed for the runaway, then pulled out a hair tie. "Do you have a big bow that matches the glasses?" I nod again and get the bow I am looking for. "Now put some of my hair into a pony tail, and put the bow on top." I put the ponytail in and put the bow onto the top of her head.

"Who are you and what happend to Anelia?" Peter jokes.

"I will take it off at rehearsal and at night when it is dark and nobody can see me." Anelia reasure him.
