Word limits

Does anyone else find word limits as irksome as I do? They're so annoying. My teacher's big on word limits. For instance, she informs me AFTER I turn in my eight-page narrative on Jamestown settling that she only wanted two and a half pages. So I had to cut out, what, five and a half pages. Aargh. This same teacher proceeds to give my twenty-page long thing on the Hopi Indians a C+. LOL! She asked us to write an informative children's book on an Indian tribe but was unclear about the length, although she did say that it should be suitable for a third grader. (We're entering sixth grade, hello.) So she gives me a C+ because she says I didn't follow guidelines. She pleasantly informed me that no third grader would understand the words I used (the most complicated word I used was "phlegmatic." Come on!). I refrained from telling her that when I was in third grade I could define "idiosyncrasy."

Okay, this is turning into a rant. I'm very sorry- this pertains in no way to anything. My point being, does anyone else despise word limits? Administrators, you can tone down my ramblings if need be. :/

Really? Your teacher doesn't know how to spell "apologize"? *stifles giggle* How does she spell it?

Unfortunately, yes, the other day my teacher spelled "apologize" a-p-o-l-I-g-i-z-e. On the board. I politely corrected her. :/

Then the other day she confused "hear" with "here" and one time she wrote "eosysten" instead of "ecosystem" (that was the worst, and then she hollered at me for correcting her). I can think of many other such incidents, but, well, I think you get the gist...

I won't go into details, but at least your teacher doesn't own a "beating stick" that he threatens to use on students. And also your old teacher doesn't threaten to kill some of the students in your class. (Or do they?)

AAAHA! Yes! She does! Okay, it's not a beating stick, as you said, but she does have a wooden mallet that she hit this kid on the head with one day. Oh, and because of this disorder that she has where she can't eat food with skins and seeds (just the fact that I know this is sad and scary), she keeps a bunch of knives in her desk (like, three or four). And they're not just the little plastic kind... then, when she starts taping paper over our windows because she says she, "doesn't want anyone looking in here," we start really getting frightened.

So, uh, sorry, am I rambling? Or gossiping? :( Sorry.

Um... you two are making me very glad I have my mom as my teacher... A wooden mallet?  Knives? Taping paper over the window? Um, shouldn't you, er, tell someone?

Ahhhh! Call for help!

It's like a horror story!

I have had nice teachers.

My brother makes awesome power points but at school he had a time limit!

I happen to get only normal teachers, not pshyco ones or bad spelling ones.

We've told numerous, people, Lena. Most of the parents are on our side. And have been ever since she called us dingbats and airheads in December.

Yeah, you homeschooled people are lucky. ;)

So do you go to public or private school, Mary?

Private school, MJ. Catholic. And I was sent to the office for saying "God bless you" to a kid who sneezed.

@ Lena: You have no idea how close she is...
