Escape Room Solo

Escape Room Solo Write!

You wake up in a room. The door is locked. You must escape. You don't know who you are, or where you came from. There is a small tattoo on the back of your hand, and you derive your name from it. Little do you know, you're being watched...

                        ~-o-~

There are five mc spots, the people in the room, all are welcome! Use diversity and make your charries however you want. There are two main villain spots, and five to ten minor villains and/or evil helpers. This is a solo write. If you want, you can also make background characters that could turn out to be heroes in the end, or villains.

Sorry, Bookworm, I had no idea our charries had the same name. I will change her name to Ivy, if that's ok.

She woke in a room, not knowing who she was, or how she got there. She looked around. It was a small room, dimly lit, with a bookcase, couch, table, and cabinet. She got up and saw she was not alone. There were four other people on the ground near her. She was the first to wake. The door was just on the other side of the room. If she was quick, she could be out before the other people woke. She ran lightly across the room, darting around furniture. As she reached out, she saw a picture, about the size of a silver dollar, on the back of her left hand. She examined it closer- a bird. She smiled. She would be called Wren. Wren grabbed hold of the doorknob and tried to turn it. Locked. An image of a flame appeared in her mind. In her mind's eye, it grew larger, swallowing everything as she struggled to get ou, the fire drawing closer and closer- no, she couldn't think about it. She pushed the flame away, but the fear still burned low in the back of her mind. The sound of a voice made her turn around.

"Who are you?" It was a boy, with black hair, grey eyes, and a hoodie. Wren couldn't see much more of his face, because the hood was hiding his face in shadow.

"I'm... Wren." she said. The boy scratched the back of his hand then looked down at it.

"Grim." They shook hands, the light browns of her tattoo contrasting with they greys and blacks of his. He was intimidating, sure, but there was something about him Wren couldn't put her finger on, something almost... insecure. Whetever the reason, she liked him. Maybe she would like the others, too.

"Where do you think we are?" asked Grim.

"I don't know... Hogwarts?" They both laughed, then fell into a silence that said a thousand words, knowing that that memory, however brief or unimportant, may have been their last glimpse into their old life. The others had begun to stir, and Grim said,

"Should we wake them?" Wren nodded and they shook the other three awake. They had the same questions, and Wren and Grim had the same answers- We don't know.

~-o-~

Little did they know, they were being watched. Nearby, unfriendly eyes watched video footage of Wren trying the doorknob. Ivy was sitting at her desk, replaying the video over and over again, watching Wren's eyes fill with fear and panic. A small smirk touched her lips. Then she skipped ahead, and watched the live footage. She cursed. They weren't supposed to like Grim; the programming must have been off. In her outrage, Ivy tore Grim's file in half. She snapped, and her bodyguard called,

"Secretary!" A girl scuttled into the office. Ivy was only a year older than her, but she had a face that would stay in your mind forever, but was timeless. She seemed centuries older than she was, and had so much experience that you couldn't fault her. Ivy pointed to the ripped document.

"Reprint Grim's file. And be quick about it." She hissed. Then, satisfied, she settled back in her chair to watch her hard work play out.

I'll try to post at least every Friday, sorry this one's a bit late. Procrastination... ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Her head hurt. She wished they would stop shaking her... who was shaking her? Where was she? She sat up, groggy, and found herself face to face with a girl with curly brown hair and green eyes. She instinctively drew back, but the girl regarded her kindly.
"I'm Wren," she said. "Who are you?" She shook her head. A looming figure came into view behind Wren.
"I'm Grim," he said. "Look on the back of your hand." She did, and saw a tattoo of an iris. As good a name as ever, she figured.
"I'm Iris," she said.
"Well, you certainly woke up faster than the rest of them," said Grim, jerking a thumb at the two people standing behind him. There was a girl with long black hair, almost the same shade as her own, and a boy with straggly dark hair. Iris found herself trusting them, but Grim... there was something off about him, and she didn't like it. No, she'd rather stay tucked away in a safe little corner, but that didn't seem possible. The room wasn't very big, and with no good places to hide. She could probably make it to the door before Grim caught her...
The boy with black hair saw where she was looking and laughed.
"The door's locked. Already tired. I'm Flame, by the way." He offered her his hand, and he pulled her off the ground. The girl smiled at her.
"I'm Luna."
"Where are we?" Iris asked, scanning the room closely. "Is there anyone else? Why are we here?"
"Don't know, no, and no idea." said Grim sharply. Wren shot him a look.
"We're just as confused as you are," she said, considerably more kindly.
"Well," said Flame. "Let's start by looking for a way out." Grim rolled his eyes, but Iris wasn't ready to give up. She was on her feet and looking around for something- anything- to get her out of there. She made her way over to the bookcase, looking under blankets and trying drawers as she went. Everything had a lock. She started, for a reason unknown to her (instinct, maybe?), pulling books halfway off the shelf. Nothing happened. As she neared the end of the shelf, however, something caught her eye. It was a titleless book, unlike the others, and it looked more solid than any of the other books. She tugged on it. It felt strange under her fingertips, but nothing happened. She was about to turn away when she caught a glimpse of a tiny flash of light. Anything was worth investigating, so Iris pulled the book off the shelf. Away from the other books, she could see the pages were fake- glued together to form almost a solid edge. She tried opening it, but it wouldn't budge. As she attempted to pry it open, the whole time with her back to the others, she felt something hard and cold. There, at the bottom of the spine, were small hinges. Iris tried flipping the spine open, and it opened easily. She looke over her shoulder to make sure no one was there, then peeked in. She reached her hand in, and pulled out a small key. She gasped with excitement. She turned to the others and dangled the key from her finger. They all grinned. They had a lead- a small one, but it could grow, if only they could find out what it unlocked.
Willow scurried past heavily armed guards on the way to her workspace. She was relatively new to the OI, and the guards were higher in seniority. She had risen to the top quickly, delving into her studies and immersing herself in knowledge and writing. She had been in awe of their Head, Ivy, but she hadn't truly realized her nature of cruelety. When she'd first become a secretary, she was thrilled, but now... she couldn't go back. Not even if she wanted to. All she'd seen, as well as the tattoo on her hand prevented that. Not that she wanted to leave. Or... she didn't know what she really wanted anymore. If she ran, they'd hunt her down. Better to stay. She hurried into the classroom/office and closed the door behind her, breathing a sigh of releif. She didn't like the guards, not one bit. However, she did like her co-worker.
"What did she want?" asked Maple, a scribe.
"I need to print a new file for Grim Reaper," she replied. Only in the Ivy and Leo reffered to them with the names they were meant to choose for themselves. The next level down could only refer to them by their tattoo. Likewise, anyone in a lower lever could only refer to their _____ by their tattoos. So the students, the only level that was lower than Wilow's, were required to call her Willow Tree. Maple and Willow were on the same level, so Willow didn't have to call her Leaf. Willow turned on her computer and waited for the password screen. For just a moment, she considered helping the Subjects, rewriting Grim Reaper's file- then she dismissed it. They'd know. They always did. She typed in the password to the computer, seeing it, for the first time, in a new way.
