To put it simply: I miss solo writes. But with Decepmyth? I couldn't keep it up. Kudos to Ruby (I almost typed RWBY lol) and his ski lodges. I don't know how he did it. So next, I tried GSD, which is working out pretty well. It's like half RP half solo write. This is going somewhere, I thought. I'm super busy and should be working on my novel, poetry, Governor's School application, or formatting for my poetry book, I thought. LET'S MAKE ANOTHER ONE AND IGNORE THE STUFF I HAVE pTO DO! I concluded.

So...to businesss...

Your character doesn't know it, but they have a quest in their future. A quest to save the world from evils they didn't know existed...and perhaps the evils buried in themselves.

I will stand as every obstical in your path. Every time things are going well, I will twist the story.

I will also stand as every kind act on your quest. When you are hopelessly lost, I am the one who opens their door to you.

I will be many characters that come and go.

When you have played out the latest story arc, I will enter in as narrarator to change things up a bit.

With that in mind, who are you? You can be anyone; from any situation and any walk of life. You don't know what's coming.

Please creat an original character to RP with. Please step out of the stereotypes and pick someone else. If your character is a kind and confident teenage girl who is ready for anything, you are probably need to add a special twist.

As soon as we have about 3 characters, we can begin the quest. Characters can join at any time. For starters, here is a little opening...

Wet leaves stuck to the parking lot pavement in green and brown clumps. The wind was heavy and damp with passing rain, and clouds sagged towards the ground. It was not a good day to go hiking. And yet a constant wooden sign at the read, "Sweetgum berry trail. 4 miles." It was covered in leaves, blown down by the violent storm. The sign pointed towards a path where the thick curtain of trees parted. Further down the path, a young girl wearing a flowing pink shirt, tight jeans, and light-up pink tennis shoes was climbing the gentle incline of the trail purposely. But when the trail ended, the girl went on. Up, and up the gentle mountain, which got slightly steeper every few feet. The top was anticlimatic. Especially since a few warning signs and barricades warned lost hikers not to venture up so far. The girl looked over the edge at the slow decline below. She sat down, leaned against a tree, and waited. The sopping leaves rustled around her, forming foosteps. The girl didn't turn around. Someone leaned an elbow on the tree, raining bits of treebark down into the little girl's hair. She still didn't move. Not even when a low voice stated slowly.

"Azalea. You aren't dead."

~

And with that tantalizing and seemingly irelevant story segment, I will leave you to your character building. If you want to go big and add some crazy "MY CHARACTER IS THE BAD GUY" or "MY CHARACTER KNOWS THE SECRET" twist, go right ahead. I applaud you.

Oh yeah, and these two characters in the post above ^ will be important later.

And no, this isn't taking the place of GSD. I'll still post on that!

SO WRITE, MY FRIENDS.

This sounds entertaining! I'm really experimenting with my characters at the moment, so they might be fairly weird... Eris is fairly high on this weirdness spectrum

Name: Eris, real name Joel Graham

Age: Unknown, but looks to be a young adult, maybe a bit older.

Appearance: He has Curly light brown hair that is beginning to gray, with bangs always put behind his right ear. He's pale and quite short, and would be mistaken for a young teenager if it weren't for the fact that his hair is graying. He wears a large and rather scruffy black cloak that practically covers his entire body(the only thing not being covered is his head and the tips of his feet), with pockets just about everywhere filled with practically everything. He wears black boots with tiny pieces of metal stuck to it that make a slight clinking sound in the wind. He carries a large backpack that's filled to the brim with strange items, the main being weird and old masks. The most striking part of him, however, is his mask. It covers his face entirely and is attached to the back of his head with a misshapenly tied string. On the left side of the mask, it's completely white, and on the other, it's completely black. There are not even any holes in the mask for seeing or breathing, just drawn on eyes and a mouth. with is a messy scribbled grin. It fits in well with the rest of his mask collection.

Personality: Quiet, meticulous and articulate. He's polite and rather charming, but in a way that you feel as if he knows more about you then you know about him, which isn't saying much, considering how little he says about himself. He's intelligent, but rather manipulative, his ways of helping others usually just another trick to get what he wants. While he's not evil, he definitely doesn't care about anyone else, and would rather watch a war then join in. He's completely neutral, but this doesn't mean he hasn't cared for anyone; He just won't show it or acknowledge it. His goal, if anything, is to just be entertained by others problems.

Skills: Very Charismatic, is fairly good with a sword, and has a good memory. He has a great knowledge of ancient history and mythology.

I'll come up with the rest later, have to go do something. Cool idea!

Habits: He's known to stare into space and think for hours on end, staring at some weird artifact he has found for forever. He will sometimes get irritated when he has to explain things, but he usually tries his best to not show it. He'll talk out loud to himself, quietly, and give names to inanimate objects--The names usually being some sort of reference to mythology.

Backstory: Would like to keep most of this hidden, but I'll tell you this: He finds masks from around the world and sells some of them in a sort of black market trade of ancient artifacts. He's way, WAY older than he looks, and his mask may or may not have to do with it.

Things that Drive your Character: Entertainment from other's problems, ancient masks, ancient artifacts in general.

Memories that have stuck with your character:

While hunting for a particular Aztec Mask, he came across a very old man, too old, almost like a ghost. The old man wore the mask he seeked, which was supposed to resemble the god Mictlantecuhtil. Mictlantecuhtil was the god of death and the underworld. The old man told Eris that this world would end unless he "sacrificed himself to..." The old man never finished. Eris still wonders whether that someone he was supposed to sacrifice himself to was Mictlantecuhtil or... something else.

Moments/Words/People that have shaped your character: Greek Mythology shapes his personality and other mythologies.

Someone your character cares about: no one, at least, not now.

Someone your character is jealous of: People who are smarter than he is.

Name: Avalynn Rou

Age: 16

Appearance: Chocolate hair with soft curls, a few streaks of gold here and there, a light tan, perfect complexion, but has bitten her fingernails too much, a result of having nails that grow much too quickly, and big, deep, green eyes. They always look faraway, a little disturbed, or frightened. She always has a pen tucked behind her ear, and has a necklace she almost never takes off, a small piece of bark on a silver chain.

Personality quirks: Super superstitious. She doesn't care about your usual superstitions (if fact, she used to have a black cat) but was raised in a very superstitious family and her own set of superstitions; never say the same word twice in a row, people who stutter are good luck, break a piece of bark off an Elm tree whenever you see one, etc.

Skills: Drawing, painting, anything that has to do with art. She thinks of it as the one place she can escape her superstitions, where she can do anything. She's also a fantastic liar.

Habits: Fingernail chewing, drawing on her clothes.

Backstory: She grew up in a very superstitious family, and it's followed her everywhere. She can't leave all her superstitions behind however much she wants to, and when she was nine, her brother Logan, who was 18 (big age difference, but they were very close) got fed up with it and left. Her biggest dream is to find him. Two months after Logan disappeared, her house caught on fire. She was the only survivor. She was sent to foster care, but immediately hated it and ran away. She currently is living with her mother's friend, "Aunt" Suzie, and attends the local public school under the name 'Hannah Baker'.

Things that drive your character: The memory of her brother, and the hope of finding him.

Memories: Once, when Avalynn was six, their cat, Moonlight, got stuck in a tree. Logan climbed up to get her, then helped Avalynn climb up too. They sat in the branches of the Elm tree and watched the sun set over the cityscape. Logan pulled off a piece of bark from the tree and gave it to her. Later, with Aunt Suzie's help, she made it into a necklace (see above). This is one of her favorite family memories, since her parents were always a little distant.

Moments, words and people: The day in the tree, superstitions, and Logan.

Someone your character cares about: Logan and Aunt Suzie.

Someone your character is jealous of: Her friend in school, Kayla, who has a perfect family. She doesn't like having to hide herself from her friend, but she wishes she could have a family like Kayla's.

Loves big cities, thrives on the excitement of it. Very sociable, gets around, likes to get together with his buddies and go to Miami Dolphins and Carolina panthers games. Extroverted. friendly.

Skills: Very talented in all sports, art, and has great people skills.

Habits: He's a graphic designer, so sketching out disney like characters. Mostly dogs and people. Very messy.

Backstory: Was raised in San Diego, but moved later to new york. His deep dark secret is that when he was 19 he robbed a bank, but couldn't go through with it and gave himself up. He served in jail till 22? (Is that short or long enough?) He never forgot it and has told no one since then. He has never touched a bank since then. He now lives in NY city but flies to CA once or twice every year.

Things that drive your character: Living?

Memories that have stuck with your character (can be in narrative format): His last moments with his baby sister. She died when she was 1 year old. And holding up the bank

Moments, words, and/or people that have shaped your character: His Grandpa was a big part in his life, since his dad never was around. He was very depressed when he was in middle school then when he was in his teens his Grandpa told him to go into football. He made many friends. Thants how he come to his love of sports.

Okay, so RULSIES!

I post "story excerpts" and y'all RP off of those. Thisaway, I don't have to be practically the TYRANICAL DICTATOR of the thread. But if we need to change the system, the system can certainly go into the repair shop. Remember, characters can jump in at any time!

STORY PART 1

They didn't mean to explore a long-abadoned mountain in a state park closed for a repair that would never happen.  Especailly since not one of them had met another before.

And yet there they were, standing on a mountain, looking over the edge. Trees whispered around them.

Amid pale leaves and the infamously spiky sweetgum berries that had once given the trail its name, a girl dressed almost completely in pink sat watching from behind a simple screen of foilage. The branch beside her russled.

"Did it work?" A deep voice asked.

"They're all here" the girl answered, "they're all looking for something."

Can I still join?

~~~
Name: Isadora Marlow
Age: 14
Appearance: Tall and thin. She looks really agile and fast. Her skin is really pale, as is her white-blond hair, which she keeps up in one long French braid that reaches the middle of her back. Her eyes are a stormy blue-grey, and she usually wears a tattered black sweatshirt and jeans.
Personality quirks: She seems way too independent. Really, she's not. She is really insecure, and an introvert. She can come across as mean and uncaring. One of those people who seem as if they could kill you if they wanted. Isadora has a really hot However, if you can get through to the sweet, loyal person she actually is, she'll be your friend forever.
Skills: She is agile and a fast runner. Isadora is really driven by what she believes in, and will do anything to stand up for it. Unlike most teenage girls, she won't show that she's bothered by what others say.
Habits: When people make her mad, she will get very quiet, and her face will slowly turn red. She sucks on her hair when she is nervous or trying to concentrate.
Backstory: Her parents are rumored to have abandoned her. She went to foster home after foster home, none of them quite fitting. This is her darkest secret- she doesn't have normal parents like everyone else. Finally, she ended up at a foster home with neglectful guardians who are hardly ever home. They barely care about Isadora and have done some pretty violent things to her- mostly verbally, but have struck her on multiple occasions. Finally, she just snaps, escapes- and that's how she ended up on the mountain.
Things that drive your character: She despises stereotypes. Completely, utterly loathes them. Also, when people call her Dora, as stupid as it sounds. She hates when people are disloyal and tends to get angrier about this than most other things, because she herself is so loyal.
Memories that have stuck with your character: She remembers one day at the park, one of the last day she ever saw her parents. She must have been about five years old. The next one she remembers is her first foster family, who thought that she was too much of a burden. She remembers having hot chocolate there one snowy day, as random as it is. The next thing she remembers is one day in second grade when some boys in her class were making fun of the way she turned white when she was angry. Next, she remembers the family she only stayed with for one day. They were rich and stuck-up, and she hated their son, for some reason. Then, she remembers a rainy day when she went to the family she lives with now. There were some glimpses of her other foster families in between, but those are the ones she mainly remembers.
Oh, wait. There's more. XD
Moments, words, and/or people that have shaped your character: The moment her parents left her at the house of her first foster family. It was pouring rain, and they left her on the front step. As she watched the car drive away, she resolved to always be loyal, just like they weren't.
Someone your character cares about in their life: Her older sister who she hasn't seen in years. (Maybe another RPer? PLOT TWISTS!)
Someone your character is jealous of (same rules apply): Those people her age who she sees on the streets, walking with their own perfect families.
Eris looked through the trees, searching. This mask has definitely become a pain, and Eris was beginning to wonder if this was even worth it.
He had heard of a mysterious native American mask called the false face mask. Supposedly it called upon the spirit of an old man to heal the one who needs it. Or somewhere along those lines. Eris had to admit, his knowledge of Native American culture was definitely... Less than he would like.
Nevertheless, he decided to search for it. He had first started off looking around near the area where Iroquois tribes used to live. Searching shops and asking around towns, he soon realized that they were forbidden to sell. Which meant he would have to find an Iroquois Descendent himself, or search areas where they might have lived.
He chose the latter, understanding these masks were probably more than sacred. His best option was an abandoned state park, which was in forever 'repair'. The park had been rather protective about keeping its Iroquois culture in its park, which meant that much of it would probably be untouched...
Which proved to be wrong. The entire place was ransacked. Trees were cut down, glass and cigarette buds were scattered everywhere, the exhibits were ruined or gone, there was nothing.
Eris, at the moment, is still searching near the area of the mountain for stuff that may or may not been dropped here. To be honest, this search should have ended a while ago. But something feels... Different about this mountain. As he scavenges through another pile of random stuff lying around, he hears the crack of a twig breaking behind him. Eris slowly stops and smiles.
"Hello," Eris said, turning around.
* * *
Sorry, this was mainly just set up for my character. If anyone wants to be that person who broke the twig, be my guest!
This looks like a pretty long charrie sheet...  it might take me a while to get all of it done.
Name: Emmalyn Costaway
Age: 14
Appearance: Short, skinny, has long auburn hair in corkscrews, brown eyes, tanned skin, wears blue glasses, red converse, and a faded blue watch.
Personality quirks: Creative, unpredictable, non-athletic, has asthma, competitive without being arrogant, optimistic,
Skills: Swimming, playing the piano, creative writing.  Mostly swimming and creative writing because they are skills that none of her siblings share.
Habits: bites her watch when she's concentrating, touches her face too much.
Backstory: She was a kid in the middle of the pack, having four siblings, Alex (5), Macy (10), Gianna (16), and Max (17).  She was exactly in the middle, meaning her parents were always paying attention to her older, more "accomplished" siblings or her younger, more needy siblings instead of her.  Her parents worked a lot to sustain their family, so a lot of her time was spent at a family friend's house so they could take care of her while her parents were at work.  Through this, she made a close relationship with her cousin Nathan and her aunt, whom (did I use that right?  Grammar ugg) she spent the most time with.  She mostly related to Nathan because he liked to illustrate her writing.  She liked to swim because none of her other siblings could swim well, and Alex couldn't swim at all.  It made her feel individual from the rest of her family.  Her time spent writing helped her get out of the chaos that her house was always in.
Things that drive your character: Getting the chance to to something great.  Oh, and food.
Memories that have stuck with your character (can be in narrative format): When she was seven, Gianna pushed her into the pool after she had asked if she could show off her swimming.  Emmalyn took this as a challenge, and swam as fast as she could across the pool fully clothed.
Moments, words, and/or people that have shaped your character: The memory above, which she calls "the pool incident," her cousin, and I'll think of more later unless what I have is enough.
Someone your character cares about in their life (can be another RPer or someone from your character or another character's backstory): Her cousin
Someone your charater is jealous of (same rules apply): All her siblings.
