And some of us like big words. Besides, there isn't a little word for everything!

I like big words, but if you like shorter ones, you don't have to come on this thread. But I probably wouldn't actually use any of these words unless I was in a spelling bee or trying to be funny or something...

They don't have to be big. It's just weird

words and their meanings. I think it's fun :D

I do too. I enjoy words. Mostly for definitions, though, not meaning. Like, repertitious seems like a dull, long word with a busines-related meaning or something, but it actually means found by chance or accident. And gound, possibly one of the most awesome words in the English language, is rather short and sounds kind of odd, but it means the gunk that's in one's eyes when one wakes up. Incredibly cool! Agathokakological seems long and scary, but it means comprised of both good and evil, a meaning that is both interesting and useful. And here's one that sounds likes some kind of stuffy botanical term but is really terrifoc despite being pretty useless- sesquihoral. It means lasting an hour and a half. How GREAT is that?!

Oh, by the way, here's some more:

Sessile: an adjectiveused to describe an animal are ones that spend their entire adult lives in one place (sponges, coral, sea squirts, etc.)

Echinoderm: a starfish, sea urchin, brittlestar, basket-star, sea lily, feather star, sand dollar, or sea cucumber, although there are some pre-historic animals that are also called echinoderms

Chelonian: a turtle or tortoise

I'd put this on the other one, but I don't think anyone saw it.

Gastropod: a snail or slug

Sesquipedalian: someone who loves long words.

Cephalopod: a squid, octapus, nautilus, or very similar animal

Anuran: a frog or toad

Tardigrade: an extremely cute, microscopic, transparent animal that looks like a little gummy bear and won the Guinness World Record for most heat-tolerant animal! They're also called water bears and live almost everywhere, maybe even on your roof or in your backyard!

Okay, by now you can probably tell how much of a biology geek I am. I should probably stop now, before you start thinking I'm obsessed.
