And that's how I knew something was terribly, utterly, completely wrong. I rushed down the stairs of the castle, expecting the worst. My dad was curled up in a ball, a huddling mess of dragon scales.
"OH THANK THE MOTHER DRAGON KAIVA YOU'RE HERE!!" He cried. Kaiva is me. I'm Kaiva. Kaiva is the name of a white she-dragon who is seventeen hundred years old tomorrow.

I knelt down in front of my dad. "Papa? What's wrong!" He pointed a shaking claw behind me at the window. I jumped up to look. And gasped.
