Summer poem. This

Summer poem. This

Summer poem. This is just a spur-of-the-moment, rough draft poem. I just thought of the idea this afternoon. It's a fresh-baked poem, straight from the strange depths of my mind... Here you go...

Summer

I hear happy music in the cool summer's breeze,
Telling of the icey treats to come.
I smell smoke seeping from the barbeque,
Cooking our long hotdogs.
I feel the hot pavment beneath my feet
As I skitter across our back patio.
I taste the juicy burst of watermelon
That I stole from the kitchen counter.
I see a baseball whiz over my head
As my sister and dad play catch.
I see my mom making potato salad.
I really should help, but I don't want to go inside.
I taste the chlorine
In the water that drips from my hair.
I feel the cords of our white hammock
As I rock softly.
I smell the hotdogs
Burning on the grill.
I hear my dad exclaim
As he realizes whats happening to our dinner.
I smile.
It's the perfect summer day.

Please tell me what you honestly think!!!

That was really good! Being vegan, the last bit didn't really mean all that much to me (no offense), but it was really well written!

It's amazing! It has wonderful, wonderful imagry. The only thing I might change is to go through and see if there are any little words like ands and thes that don't help the poem and take them out.
