"Take this exit, Dave."

"Exit 10? Sir, there's nothing out there."

"He's out there. I'm the most sure I've ever been, trust me."

"Well, if you're certain."

David drifted the hovercar gently off of the highway, the ramp slowly descending past what appeared to be a practically ancient truck stop. Avi took another look at his watch before pointing to a back road trailing into the woods.

"That's the road."

David gave him another nervous glance, but resolved to trust his supervisor. Getting mugged by a bunch of backwoods junkies was certainly a possibility, but considering his profession, wasn't a big concern for David. His biggest fear was that this wild goose chase Avi was on would last months more without any real progress. Even so, though David was prone to skepticism, Avi had pulled him out of more sticky situations than he could count. He knew his boss to be a rightminded man, and on top of that, David would be lying if he said he felt like he didn't owe it to him to have his back.

"Did you manage to dig up any new information about this guy?" David started, attempting to break the eerie silence. The light from the truck stop and street lamps was all but gone, leaving the headlights of the hovercar as the only illumination in the drab, grungy forest.

"I did, though it isn't much," Avi admitted. He reached down into his letterman bag and began shuffling through papers. "You remember how I mentioned he used to work for us, yes?"

"Correct. If my memory serves me, he was an agent, same as me."

"That he was. Y'know it's strange, since Mosa Corp. has such extensive documentation, that we have so little information on him." Avi chuckled. "But I guess it's my fault in part." David furrowed his eyebrows.

"It is. Strange, I mean." Avi let out another hearty chuckle, before pulling a paper-clipped bundle of paperwork from his bag.

"Here it is! I managed to find an uncatagorized file on him in the archive. It's got a few interesting nuggets, like some details about his powers, some accounts from colleagues of his, he had a hero name too-"

"WOAH!" David slammed on the brakes as a huge shape came into view. After a chaotic moment of Avi's confused yelling and documents flying all over the hovercar, the vehicle came to a rest right in front of a house. The two regained composure and examined their surroundings. The house was not the kind David expected to see in a place like this. It was large and rather victorian-looking. To add to that, it appeared to be in good condition, not decrepit in the slightest. There weren't any lights on, but it was to be expected in the early hours of the morning.

David breathed a sigh of relief. "Sorry about that sir, thing was totally dark. It came out of nowhere. What were you saying?" Avi stopped to catch his breath.

"Before you almost crashed, you mean?" David bowed his head apologetically. "Jeez... hold on. Oh, right, he had a hero name." David looked back up with intrigue. "People used to call him Lightbringer."

Ignis-Metallum 11 (henceforth referred to as 11)~

I step out of the shadows, feeling ever-so-slightly guilty. Mr. Avi gives me a disappointed look, but Mr. Delano looks at me with interest.

"Who is this?" Avi sighs. As a 15 year old female, I'm not held in the highest regard around here. I tuck a coppery lock of hair behind one ear.

"Ignis-Metallum 11, the one superhuman you hold here, 'for safety purposes.'"  I put air quotes around the last three words. Mr. Delano looks at the ground around my feet, staring at the dealy metal spikes stabbing in and out of the carpet.

"I see." Mr. Avi walks over to me and glares wickedly, trying to pry into my soul. It won't work. Never has.

"You are supposed to be in your cell." He growls. I shrug.

"Oh yeah, put a metal manipulater in a metal cell and expect me to stay there. Brilliant idea."

"You burned down the wooden one."

"That was an accident." Now I'm embarrassed. Mr. Delano stifles a chuckle.

"Is that what that incident was? Noted. So, fire and metal manipulater?"

"Yes... Barely. Rampantly out-of-control manipulation."

"That explains the spikes. Do they follow her?" The spikes at my feet stab faster. The carpet's being painfully lacerated. With an apologetic glance at the floor, I move to a different patch of floor, which lust so happens to be made of metal. No more damage, just the floor seems to be undulating sharply.

"Unfortunately." Mr. Avi sighs again. Mr. Delano peers at me.

"She could be useful for this mission." My ears prick.

@Tux: That works fine!

@Rogue: Both you and Tux posted at the same time which makes the situation kind of confusing, so could 11 maybe start at a different location and then meet the main cast through different circumstances? Like maybe we start with her in containment at Mosa Corp. HQ, or maybe a security breach splits Delano, David and Avi up so Avi has to go confront 11 while David and Delano deal with the situation in Alaska? Just a few suggestions.

**********

David, reaching for his weapon, rushed to join Avi at the window.

"Dave, wait!" Avi exclaimed, extending an arm to defuse his colleague. "It's just a civillian. Hold on, I'll handle this guy." Avi drew the curtains closed again and started back towards the front door.

"A civillian? Here? It took us a month just to find this place!"

"Maybe it's a backwoods hillbilly type," Avi reasoned. "Plus, it's a nice house, and the lights are on. He might be dangerous, but stay in the living room until I ask for you." David, begrudgingly, did as he was told.

Avi opened the door, revealing who seemed to be exactly what he expected. A sweaty, scruffy looking man in checkered flannel and old jeans stood on the doorstep, a German Shepherd at his side. The man turned and greeted Avi with a smile, extending a large, callused hand. Cautiously, Avi shook it.

"Sorry to bother you, sir, we've found ourselves in a bit of a situation," The man explained. "My truck is fresh out of gas, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere in miles where I could buy some. By your house and your car, you seem pretty well-to-do, so I was wondering if you had any gas on ya to spare?" Avi had to stand and process the strange situation for a minute before answering.

"No, sorry," He replied coldly. "We're, uh... we use solar-electric. I hope you can understand." The man's eyes dimmed in disappointment.

"I suppose that makes sense," The man concluded. "Sorry to bother you, again." He knelt down to face the dog, scratching behind its ears as if to soothe its similar disappointment. "It looks like we've got a little more walking ahead of us, Whistle."

As the man stood and started to leave the porch with his dog, Avi felt a sudden twinge of guilt. "That's an awfully long ways to walk, especially 2 times in one night," Avi exclaimed. "Why don't you come in for a little while, sort your whole situation out?"

The man turned around, face lit up, and started back towards the front door. "Really? It's not too much trouble?" Avi, smiling nervously, shook his head and beckoned the man inside. As the stranger began marvelling at the living room, David pulled his boss aside.

"What are you doing? This is not our house!"

"What else was I going to do, leave him to wander around the woods until morning? I'm only letting him use the phone to call a ride, that's it. No harm done."

"You let a New England redneck into our golden boy's mansion! With a dog! He barely even let us in, and we're professionals! What do you think he's going to do when Delano comes down those stairs in 5 minutes and sees this guy? You're going to jeopardize this whole mission!"

"David, relax. That's an order. I'll handle it, trust me. We'll be out of here ona jet to Alaska in no time."

Awesome, Pete. I was wondering if you would mind if Jed somehow came along and be part of the crew... or maybe he could stay as a background character... I’m not sure yet. What do y’all think? Would it be ok if he stayed or should he just leave in a few posts?

Also I will post soon, probably tomorrow night.
