Hey, what sort

Hey, what sort of music, if any, do you guys listen to when you write?

It sort of depends what kind of story I'm writing. If it's a sad story, sad music. If happy, happy music! Usually try to make it not to exciting though, because then I'd be dancing, not writing!

Usually LM, though sometimes other things. ...And believe me, unless you're as weird as I am, you have no idea how hard it is to sing every word to IWtGTB while trying to type different words. :)

And Poor Unfortunate Souls... Well, all the villain songs, really. It's nigh impossible NOT to sing along, and when you're writing...

Plus side, I'm one of those people who types in sync with their music.

As for me, I like to listen too, (I apologize if you're sick of him, but...) MICHAEL JACKSON. Some of his songs fit my story-writing mood. Perfectly.

Hey, Kit Kat! And I don't like music while I write. I like other background noise, but not music. My brother feels the same way - when he has music playing, it makes a great mood for him as a writer, but not for the reader cause chances are they aren't hearing the same stuff. No music makes him create his own mood.

I have two playlists- one is titled "NaNoWriMo" and consists entirely of fast-paced music because I type in sync with whatever I'm listening too. It's got 46 songs, including Welcome Home (Coheed and Cambria), What's This (the Fallout Boy cover of the Nightmare Before Christmas song), Brand New Day (Dr. Horrible), Know Why the Nightingale Sings (Nightwish), Dead Man's Party (Oingo Boingo), Miss Murder (AFI), Our Solemn Hour (Live) (Within Temptation), Dark Wings (Within Temptation), Poor Unfortunate Souls (from the movie), Everybody's Fool (Evanescence), and stuff like that. It's my one playlist that has hardly anything from musicals and consists almost entirely of actual bands.

The other playlist is "Writing Music" and consists of some of the above and also music of other kinds/moods, so I can quickly switch between musical style depending on the scene I'm writing.

Listen to music? While I write? It might be a good mood setter but it would probably be more effective for me beforehand, if I listened to it at the same time I would just get distracted.

I am not that good of a multitasker. That would be too distracting for me. I can't even listen to music when I'm typing a comment on the Chatterbox (I only do that when I'm reading comments or something...), much less writing a story. But kudos to you if you can. You are very talented. *claps* :D

Haha Megan, no, it's not easy. It usually ends up being very inspiring though... but no, not easy. Like if an Ursula/eel song comes on, I just /have/ to start singing the words, at which point I start *typing* the words, and in the end it's just much easier to incorporate an fun, evil, awesome sea witch into the story.

*shrug* So that's what I do sometimes.

I like to listen to the Beatles, for the most part if i'm writing on the Chatterbox or MB, and when I'm typing a story or a poem, I like more fast-paced things, like Taylor Swift, the Rolling Stones, and Coldplay. If I'm writing a song on my guitar, I actually like to turn something like Pink Floyd on very quietly. *shrug* It's all about what you're doing. ♪♪♪♪

I dont usually listen to music, but I do sing about what im writing, because sometimes I can make the song into a new idea.
