Solo Write!!!

Solo Write!!!

This is my first one, ever, but I'm super excited!

This is the backstory:

The people who live in Oracle are mysterious. A wall surrounds their domain, and they always seem to be doing some sort of magic. But the thing they are almost always focused on is preventing the prophecy from happening.

The prophecy was given by the great Ora ninety-nine years and 364 days ago, saying that there will be five children from the ages 10 to 18, chosen to bring down the Oracle's most evil villain a hundred years in the future. The question is, will this benefit Oracle, or not? A true evil has been surrounding the Oracle for two years, beginning with when Oracle's Queen died. Queen Felia had been the most mysterious part of Oracle, only coming out in public every ten years. How did she die? That remains the question, but it is suspected that the evil was to blame. If, of course, evil can ever be blamed. But time is running out, and the five children will rise. . .

I'll take the first five characters that are posted. I want five characters, but if any are posted after the first five, they will be used as side characters. The characters can be ages 10-18, and can be part of Oracle's community, but I prefer for them to be outsiders.

I can't wait to see your characters!

Ok, so I feel like Niteskiies might have forgotten to put up a character. I don't want to postpone this too long, so I'm starting, but with the other characters. Niteskiies, I really want your character to be included, so please submit your character sheet before I start the third chapter of this. I'm not there at all yet, but that's when all the characters should be there.

I hope you like it!!! Tell me if you want it longer or shorter next time I release a chapter, I wasn't sure if this was good. I only wrote about three characters so far, but the others will be introduced by the third chapter! Also, any good title ideas? I have down "The Oracle", but that doesn't seem good enough.

Chapter 1-

Lex Lee started down a road that seemed to call her. It’s cobblestone path was the same as all others, but the way it was lit made it eerie yet inviting. It was a road that was obviously never tended to, for weeds grew through the cracks, and there were many cracks indeed. It led down farther than other roads did, weaving through part of Oracle that Lex had never seen before. Down, down, she wandered until she came to a door. A single door. Kind of worn down, and splintering in some places. The dark brown paint had faded and was peeling, which made it seem lonely and uncared for, like the path that led to it. Lex bit her lip, but curiosity got the best of her.  She reached out, and turned the round, rusty knob carefully. The door opened easily, and beyond it was grass. Grass, then trees. Many trees. They stretched out for as long as Lex could see. Just trees of all kinds for miles. And then, something moved.

It was a small movement, tiny and sharp, but Lex could tell that, among the trees, there was something else. Something, or maybe someone, who didn’t belong. Lex focused harder, and could make out the fuzzy silhouette of a person. A girl, maybe around the age of twelve, thirteen years of age, judging on her height. Lex walked closer, and the person seemed to shrink against the tree, a reaction to Lex. “Hello?” Lex said, and the person let out a noise almost like a squeak. “I’m...I’m not dangerous.” Lex whispered. The person stepped closer to the tree, then decided (finally) to step closer. Lex slowly crept near, and the person, suddenly quite sure of themself, stepped forward, five, maybe six feet away from Lex. “Who are you, and did you come from there?” The girl asked. She surely wasn’t a citizen of Oracle, Lex noticed immediately. Her clothes were different, and they wouldn’t fit in with Oracle’s smart, rich, long attire. The sweet, cheerful blue of her blouse seemed too happy, and her pale blue shorts were a weird scratchy blue material that seemed familiar to Lex, yet unknown. “I’m Lex.” Lex said. The girl nodded. “I’m called Merina.” Merina stuck out her hand, and Lex took it, giving her a firm handshake.

Merina frowned. “You didn’t answer my question. Do you come from there?” She pointed to the sandy grey wall that encased Oracle. “Yes, It’s my home.” Lex replied. Merina nodded quite frankly. “Do you fit in there?” The question stumped Lex. She had never really fit in anywhere. “I do.” She half-lied. Lex fit in in Oracle more than she had fit in even in her family’s house, but she didn’t really act just like the others. “I have never fit in.” The girl stated. Merina’s voice was clear and confident, like she didn’t fit in and you couldn’t convince her otherwise. Lex knew that knowing you don’t fit in is better than thinking you do and having everybody laugh at you for it. “Well, Merina,” Lex smiled. “I don’t really truly fit in either.”

Link strayed through the streets of Daulsen. This town had an odd contrast, with fancy, rich houses mixed into the small, cramped ones. But Link was only focused on one building: The Audrium. The Audrium stood in the very center of Daulsen. It’s gleaming exterior gave an aura of justice, quality and beauty. The entire building was constructed with only marble that gleamed in the moon’s light. It looked like all the authority in the world, taken and placed right in the middle of a little town called Daulsen. It would make any human quake in their shoes just to look at it. It seemed that the entire world was bent on pleasing this structure of nobility and mercy.

But Link cared little about any of these things, except for the placement of the structure, for the placement made it harder to steal from. That hardly mattered though, because Daulsen was nearly dead at night. Link approached the building. It’s elaborate walls held millions of artifacts that most would consider treasures. In this case, “most” included Link. It was a rare occurrence that Link was grouped with anyone of any worth, but he knew better than that. He knew what others did not. Link continued onto the Audrium, and rolled his eyes as he opened the doors with his pre-made key. Even Link was taken aback by what he saw: artifacts covered every inch of the detailed tile. Every one, thousands, a million, maybe even millions. Any and every one of these things could restore what he had lost as a child.

Link shook that thought away. Why think of a horrible past when you have a wonderful future staring you in the face? He knew that all that was staring him in the face was his, or would be soon enough.

Link sauntered over to a gold vase. It was decorated elaborately, covered in little carvings of animals. He pulled the shadows in, and they clouded all around him, making it possible to see him. Link had always been able to do that; it had just come naturally. He had a feeling that most people couldn’t control shadows, or anything like that. Link reached out, ready to swipe the object, when...The door flew open. “Who’s in there?!” A strong voice rang out through the building.

Wow, this is amazing!  The descriptions are wonderful.  My favorite being "it seemed that the entire world was bent on pleasing this structure of nobility and mercy."  I am so looking forward to the next part and to when my character is introduced!
