New thing! Try

New thing! Try it out! okay, here's how it goes. I'm gonna post a story, but you have to chose which ending you'd chose yourself. After ten posts I'll take a tally and whoever has the most, their decision wins. I'll just call it , conclusing debates

A young, compliant princess named Anidora is metaphoracly locked in her father's castle like a bird in a cage. After being refused by several suitors beacause of her age, Anidora is fed up with arranged marriages.  And after turning fifteen and almost marrying a dreadful duke named Harold, she meets Garrett, a servant who teaches her  how to be her own person and not her parent's puppet. But just after planning to elope with her new- found love, Anidora is suddenly courted off to Prince Andrew, the kind but stressed  soon-to-be king of a large, neighboring country, in order to keep war at bay. But Garrett follows her there and offers Anidora a choice- to finally be happy and follow her heart, but force her counrty into a violent, no-win war, or go through with her marriage and live forever with someone who is not her true love, with only the thoughts of what could have been, but at least know she helped her country. Should true love conquer all? or should she give up her happiness to do what's right?

You decide. the fate of Anidora and her country depends on your vote.

"There is a time, there is a place

When love should conquer all

The rest of life is pushed aside

As truth and reason fall

But only if that selfishness

Can lead to something good..."

So Yeah. This^ about sums it up. I say she marries the prince and prevents war.

I would probably make her marry the prince and prevent the war if it were my story. Which, naturally, is the exact opposite of what I think she really should have done if it were in real life. That way there's lots of drama. Otherwise it's just a happily ever after ending. That's right, make the characters suffer *thinks about her evil plot* *laughs wildly* Mwahaha! >:)

Really? But if she married her love, people would die!

I know, but I guess I just feel like she shouldn't

give up her happiness for something that she might

not have all that much control over in the end.

I agree with TNO. Where are those words from, anyway?

How I Know You (reprise) from Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida.

I thought it summed up my thoughts quite nicely and (bonus) it's actually being sung to a princess facing approximately the same choice--love or country.

And it has quite a lovely tune. ;)

If I was Anidora, I would be selfish and go with Garret.  But, if I wrote the story, I would make her marry the prince and then have someone else who looks like her be the queen and run off with Garrett.  As long as it's fine with the prince, which it would be.

That's a really good idea! She could get one of her sisters or something to impersonate her! I'm sure they'd love being queen!

Can we change our vote?

Sure, go ahead and change your vote.

Okay, then. I change my vote. She finds an girl named Aritanaluli
(I gave her a horrid name on purpose—her parents couldn't think of
anything better and didn't care, anyway) whose evil parents had beat
and abused her, and the girl had ran away from them. Unable to find a
job, this girl was now about to die of starvation. Anidora feeds this
girl and realizes that the 2 girls look remarkably similar. Anidora
told Arita about the marriage arrangement and asked if she'd be willing
to marry the prince for her. Arita said yes. Anidora gave Arita clothes
and wigs and make-up and things, and Arita married the prince, saying
that she was Anidora. Everyone believed her. She fell in love with the
prince and enjoyed being princess and living with people who were kind.
Arita also loved her new name, Anidora. Meanwhile, the real Anidora
married Garrett.

Well, if that was real life, I'd want that to e the end of the
story. Everyone would live happily ever after, cliche though that is.
However, if it was a story I was writing, it would be different.

All
those things would have happened. However, Arita, masquerading as
Anidora, would eventually grow tired of lying about her identity. She
would want the prince to love her for who she was, not who she
pretended to be. So, 1 night, she decided she couldn't stand living her
lie anymore and told him what had happened. To prove it, she also
removed her disguise. The prince frogave her, but he couldn't stand
keeping secrets from his father, so, the next day, he told him. The
king was furious. He ordered for Arita, and Garrett to all be killed.
Noone could convince him otherwise. Anidora had to marry the prince, or
die to.

Garrett wanted them to flee to a neighboring country (in disguise) and be safe, but Anidora knew there'd be a war  if she didn't marry the prince this time. Having learned her lesson, she tearfully said farewell to Garrett and went to marry the prince.

Arita couldn't bear to lie about who she was again. She was foolish and stubborn, so she ran away, but didn't keep  her identity secret, and Garrett didn't want to have anything to do with her, so she had to go seperately. She was caught and killed, but Garrett remained safe. The prince had loved Arita all along, and couldn't stand her being killed, so he died of grief later. Then, Anidora, newly widowed, married Garrett again. Many years later, the king died of old age, and Garrett was king.

I think she should somehow show everybody that her true love really is Garrett, and nothing can change that.  From that, her parents soften up a little, and let her marry him.

If I were Anidora I would marry the prince (people will die if she doesn't and the prince can't be so bad, right?), but if it was my story she would marry Garrett and see how violent the war was and turn herself in to stop it, but no one believes she's the princess so they toss her in the dungeon and behead her and the war goes on for hundereds of years, until....................something happens.
