Since there have

Since there have been so many poetry threads on InkWell I thought I could mention one of my favorite poets.Shel Silverstein!  Who thinks he's awseome?  If you don't know who he is, he's a modern poetry writer that are kind of crude sometimes but hillarious I'll post one of his poems!  I have his book called Falling Up

Snowball

I made myself a snowball

As perfect as could be.

I thought I'd keep it as a pet

And let it sleep with me.

I made ti some pajamas

And a pillow for it's head.

Then last night it ran away,

but first it wet the bed.

Isn't that great?  I think I'll post another one!

Scale

If I could see the scale,

I'm sure that it would state

That I've lost ounces...maybe pounds

or even tons of weight.

"You'd better eat some pancakes-

your skinny as a rail."

I'm sure that's what the scale would say...

If I could see the scale.

You can more of his books at the library.  There's Fallling Up, Where the Sidewalk Ends, and There's a Light on in the Attic.

I really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY and a thousand other screamed REALLLY's like Shel Silversteins writing.  I have threee of his books, The Giving Tree, The Light in the Attic, and Where the Sidewalk Ends.  I can't find The Giving Tree.  It's my favourite book by him.  Because of his book, I LOVE to read!!!!  I've also read the book, Runny Babbit, and The Missing Piece (is that what it's called?).  Here is a other poem by him that I reallly like:

DREADFUL

Someone ate the baby,

It's rather sad to say.

Someone ate the baby

So she won't be out to play.

We'll never hear her whiney cry

Or feel if she is dry.

We'll never hear her asking "Why?"

Someone ate the baby.

Someone ate the baby.

It's absolutely clear

Someone ate the baby

'Cause the baby isn't here.

We'll give away her toys and clothes.

We'll never have to wipe her nose.

Dad says, "That's the way it goes."

Someone ate the baby.

Someone ate the baby.

what a frightful thing to eat!

Someone ate the baby

Though she wasn't very sweet.

It was a heartless ting to do.

The policmen haven't got a clue.

I simply can't imagine who

would go and (burp) eat the baby.

I love that poem.  :D

I love that dude. I have A Light in the Attic and Falling Up. He's genius. . . .

When the light is green, you go.

When the light is red, you stop.

But what do you do

When the light turns blue

With orange and lavender spots?

Genius, pure and simple.

Then again, the answer to that limerick is simple. You turn, duh.

Pencil Maker

Some dummy built this pencil wrong--

The eraser's down here where the point belongs.

And the point's at the top--so it's no good to me.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Some of my favorites have pictures that go with them, because you don't get the joke of the poem until you look at the picture.

Yeah I would have told them some different ones like the Hi-Monster but that one's not funny until you can see the picture.
