Who else spends too much (or not enough) of their free time making up fantasy worlds?? And conlangs, too- don't even get me started! Anyway, this thread is for sharing your fantasy lands, cultures, maps, conlangs, art, ect ect. I'll post too once this goes up! Happy worldsharing <3

haha, yeah, it's kind of a shocking revelation that my keyboard does actually have a caps key.  no capitals just seems more comfortable when i'm talking instead of writing something.

i'm certain your writing has changed. everybody changes as a creator, as long as they keep writing. sometimes i dig up old stuff i wrote to see how much i've changed. but then they make me cringe, and also cry. so i stop.

There's a cool online resource for making fantasy maps. Although you can get a subscription to unlock more in-depth features, the free version is super fun and useful for beginners and pros alike!

Ooh, I love talking about my fantasy worlds~

If I were to let myself, I'd probably write a post miles long, so I'll try to keep it to the basics (emphasis on the try) - my main fantasy world grew out of a map I drew years ago in my sketchbook. I drew about ten countries, gave them capital cities, rivers, etc., and named them and imagined what the landscape would be like in each. Over the years I've written several stories and novels set in them, giving them each history and important characters.

One of these countries is the Desert, inhabited by the Edestas (people of the desert), and the ancient, solemn Almedi tribe. The towns are small, quiet, near oases. In the afternoons people visit each other and relax and drink coffee; in the evenings they all go to the bazaar that every small town has, where people play music and sell snacks and socialize. Out in the actual desert, there are tribes of nomads and merchants.  Some of the words I made up for the language spoken in the desert are "zardina" (daughter of the garden), "larina" (luscent daughter), and "ekara" (loved one).

Heavens, I'm listening to music right now and just thinking about my invented worlds made me feel so homesick. Even though I've never been there, can't go there because it doesn't exist, and literally invented it.

basically i heard that line from the old power rangers show where the bald dude is like "monsters? only a group of teenagers with attitude could defeat them." and i thought, huh. teenagers with attitude would make terrible superheroes. being forced to fight monsters would do horrible things to a teenagers mind, attitude nonwithstanding. and i thought, that's a funny idea LE, you are so smart.

LE, the story you described is beyond the limits of Chatterbox, so I deleted that part of your comment.

yeah a decent bit of it is me trying to learn to write action. it always comes out anticlimactic.

only very slightly related, but there is a new part out for the terminal text adventure. we need as many players as possible!

(okay, i don't need them, per se, but it'd be nice?)
