Admins, is it

Admins, is it true that if you post a full story or book on the internet (one that you write) you can't try to get it published later on?

I don't know about that. You'd need to ask a copyright expert.

I'm not an Admin, but I think it is true. Since the internet is a form of publishing, and anyway nobody's going to publish something anybody can get for free.

Yeah...so if I ever want to get published I'll have to be careful of how much writing I put on the web. Thanks, ZNZ and admin.

Not how much... just WHAT you put on the web. Posting stuff on the web is a good way to get feedback on the way you write and to build up a fanbase (which is why some bloggers go on to become published authors). So keep posting... just guard the stuff you want to someday publish!

I don't know any copyright experts but I read that in a book about writing and getting published. The book was called "Writing Magic" by Gail Carson Levine.

You don't have the first rights anymore, and it's extremely unlikely that a publisher will agree to take it. If you want to publish it, don't put it up.
