Today's Poem: Nursery Rhymes

(Attention all Chatterboxers who did not see my earlier post: I decided that for the next few weeks we should celebrate poetry. Each day I will post a new type of poem for you to write.)

Nursery Rhymes are poems that are usually focused to young children. They are normally stories in a poem form. Some famous nursery rhymes are Humpty Dumpty; Rain, Rain, Go Away; and Lullaby.

Try writing your own Nurery Rhyme. An example is:

Mr. Square
Lived under the sea,
Mr. Square
Liked to drink tea.

All the sharks,
And all the fish,
Wanted to put Mr. Square
On a dish!

Challenge: Write a nursery rhyme about a stuffed animal you have/had. An example is:

Soft little bunny,
I cuddle with you,
So I may dream
Free
Without scary monsters.
You are my dream protector
And I love you!

Now try your own!

This is a great fun challenge, Choco. Tempting, but I should go on to posting other comments. Mine would have to be about my old beloved teddy bear. Maybe later.

Now, this is just plain scaring me! I am so sorry to all those Chatterboxers out there! I have just posted some junk top posts, but this won't go to the first page!

Don't you have to wait for the comment to be posted for it to go to the top?

Bright green fur

And deep blue eyes

Helps me forget

My daily surprise

I fall asleep and

Dream my dreams

Holding my bunny

Fingering seams

Ermm...  I kind of failed at that.  xD  The rhymes were rather horrible, but I couldn't think of anything else in the two minutes I was writing the poem.

Oh and we both had little rabbitses stuffed animals!  :)

Challenge: Write a nursery rhyme about a stuffed animal you have/had.

Well, I never really had a stuffed animal.  I will write about my beloved blanket.

Sleep will not come to me,

So I go and get thee,

Thy cuddlyness is comforting,

So the sleep bell I do ring.

That makes absolutely no sense.  Oh, whatever, I'll post it anyway.

The lovely toy mouse was yellow and small.

A little girl loved it after all.

Then each year, it was played with a bit less.

(By now it was dirty, in fact quite a mess.)

And the dirty old mouse now sits in a room,

Igrored, or else lost, by it didn't know whom.

Still the girl hugged it sometimes, or dragged it around,

When she went on a trip. It sat there with no sound.

Wow, very nice poem! Some of the rhymes seem forced but there's something in it that is sort of hard to describe- sort of a strong voice. I really like it. If I would you I would give it an edit over, it seems worth spending a good bit of energy on.
