Tell me how

Tell me how you guys like this. I'm not sure how good it is:

Prologue

Year: 2159

Dr. Edelian wept into his hands as the girl in the hospital bed watched him. He was 36 years old then, and the girl was his niece. She was 16 years old, and as Edelian brushed his niece’s black hair away from her face, he wondered if he'd ever see joy in her green eyes again. She had pale skin, but that was mostly due to the recent accident. The scientist blamed himself for his niece’s accident, and no one could comfort him. He thought it was his fault the car had flew out of the sky lane. It could have been a malfunction in the car, or in the lane, but he had stayed by the girl’s side since he got there, feeling guilty, and most likely would have stayed there forever if his niece hadn’t spoken.

“Uncle.” she said, getting his attention. He stopped crying and waited for her to speak. “You know how much I love the computers, and the robots that you build. Please, turn me into one, if the doctors can’t help me.”

“What do you mean?” Edelian said as his eyes teared up again.

“I mean turn me into a robot, so that I can stay with you, even if.....” She didn’t need to finish her sentence, they both knew what she meant. Edelian frowned. He didn’t think that what she was implying was even possible.

“I’ll try my best.” he finally answered. The girl smiled. It was one of those pure bliss, childish smiles little kids had on their faces after being given a cookie. It was one of those smiles that makes you think about happy things, even if the situation is bleak. It was one of the last things she ever did. <!--break-->

Edelian took her body to a secret government facility that only he and three others had access to. He replaced her nerves with super sensitive wires, so that she could feel the slightest touch. He placed high range microphones in her ears, so she could hear as good as five people-with perfect hearing-combined. Edelian also replaced her bones with light weight metal, so she would be flexible and never be in any danger of broken bones. He gave her superhuman speed, agility, and reflexes; as well as far range cameras inside her eyes. Under her fingernails were tiny, retractable poison filled needles for defense. Lastly, he replaced her heart with a hydraulic engine, and her brain with a computer system that connected to the rest of her, just like a human’s brain. It took almost a year, but at last, she was finished.

His three comrades watched anxiously as they waited for the robot to open her eyes. Edelian felt that this new copy of his niece shouldn’t bear his niece’s name, so he named the robot Pandora. Just like the original Pandora, from greek mythology, this robot was the first of her kind. She was unique, beautiful, and perfect. Pandora opened her eyes, sat up, and looked at Edelian. She smiled at him. It was that pure bliss, cookie smile again.

“You did it then?” she asked, looking at herself. The scientist nodded, happy tears filling his eyes. The girl smiled again. So did Edelian. He had recreated his niece, and built something that was perfect to him. He had built Pandora.

          He had built me.

Kim A.

Awesome job! It's a very touching start. Have you gotten past there yet? From how you said that she had retractable poison-filled needles under her fingernais for defense, I assummed that there is going to be some danger in the rest of the story, am I correct? Please tell me what happens next! I really want to find out!

This is really good!  Are you going to post more?  You have a perfect amount of details and descriptions in the story!
