This girl at my church lost her grandfather last Friday, and, in praying for her, I came up with this poem. I thought I'd post it on here and see what you guys thought of it.

Farewell to a Loved One

Farewell, my friend,

I’ll not forget

The ways you touched my life

Nor how your fingers and your words

Have shaped my destiny.

Good-bye, dear one,

Though I will miss

Your presence and your voice,

And though I mourn that you must go,

I know that you’re at rest.

Farewell, my friend,

I’ll not forget

The way you used to smile,

That laugh that bubbled from within

The beam that made you glow.

Good-bye, dear one,

Though you depart,

I keep you in my thoughts

And though you’re gone, still you remain,

A treasure in my heart.

Farewell, my friend,

I’ll not forget

Your years here on this Earth

My life has been forever changed

By your sweet passing here.

It's beautiful, Jess. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. I'm sure it will help others, too.

It's very beautiful. I'm sure she'll love it, as well as anyone else who has lost a loved one.

Yes, that is a beautiful poem.  Thanks for sharing!  The rhythm of it really adds to the beauty and makes it sound very serene and pretty.  Have you showed it to your friend yet?
