NaNoWriMo???

I don't have an email account (yet!) but when I do, I'm hoping to join.  I'm a little fuzzy on the details, though, so could someone please clear me up?

 

Who can enter?

What do they have to do?

Is there a fee? (That's on behalf of my parents.)

When is it?  And why are people registering now?  Does it matter?

Anyone 13 or older can enter. There's also a young writers' program for younger people. If they prefer to do the regular NaNo, though, they someimes, er, round their age to the nearest teen. Also, the YWP can be for anyone under 18, so if you'd rather do that, you can.

The goal is to write a novel in a month. In the regular program, it's supposed to be at least 50,000 words. In the YWP, you can set your own word count goal. A couple of people (namely Paige and Vida) join without actually doing it so that they can buddy other CBers (put them on their buddy list) and send them private messages. That's all right, but not what the site is for.

There's no fee, but it's a nonprofit organization, and you can donate if you want. If you want them to have more money but don't want to pay, you can ask others to sponsor you.

It's in November. People are registering now because they feel like it. It doesn't matter. You can sign up at any time.

Thanks!  (TOPTOPTOP!)  I probably won't enter, for a few reasons, but (knock on wood) there're another several years in my life to do it.  After college maybe :P.  Hopefully before.

Who can enter? Anybuggy, Under 13s have to do the YWP but older kids can do it too

When is it?  And why are people registering now?  Does it matter? It's in November, but there's a forum page kinda like this but a little more Crowded, so people that are already registered or registering now can chat there.
