Smoke
-----------

Suddenly a boy comes walking out of the fire. There are no burns visible on him. This boy does not look some what familar at all. I know the teachers are thinking the same because they are checking their class lists.

"I'm not on any lists," he says, "I'm Norman. I'm called Fire." I roll my eyes. This strange boy has a nickname almost exactly like mine! He lights a spark on his hand out of nothing. "For obvious reasons," he tells us.

I walk up to him, trying to look confident, which I am not good at.

"Why are you here?" I ask loudly.

He says nothing, but looks down at his feet.

"And obviously you were the one who set the fire to our school, made Marion have a severe injury, caused chaos!" I am so mad at this boy. "Did you know that some kids in this school are freaked out of fires, including me!"

The boy looked up, his face bright red.

Then he says quietly, "I had to."

Marion--

I slowly push myself up with my elbows. My stomach turns into knots but I'm too interested in the conversation near me to bother with it.

"I had to." The boy is saying and turns red, looking at his feet.

"You caused injuries with your fire. See that girl over there,"-the girl who saved my life points my way-" She could've been killed like others!" She tosses her long brown hair.

"I had to." The boy repeats again. His bright eyes seem to be pleading. The girl crosses her arms and eyes him.

"NO ONE starts a fire of there own accord!" Her eyes fiercely glare.

"You don't know anything." The boy tells her and turns around towards a group of staring teachers.

The girl stomps off back to us. "Idiot." She mutters under her breath.

"What did he want, Smoke?" A girl with fiery red hair and green eyes asks standing next to me all of a sudden.

"I had to start the fire." Smoke mimicks the boy. "Keep an eye on him, Rena. He's suspicious." Then Smoke turns to me. Now that I know her name, she seems even more familiar. Where did I know her from?

"Feelin' okay?" Smoke asks me.

"You're from my math class!" I exclaim, ignoring her question.

"Yeah, so are you." She smiles at me again.

Annnnd I'll post my info so someone can approve:

Name: Eris Guntler

Age: 12

Appearance: Dark black hair with a stripe of brown running across. Always wears a blue watch with small sequins. Light green eyes and dark red lips.

Personality: Bold, imaginative, but at the same time a tad bit shy

Other Info: Eris happens to be homeschooled, and gets snippets of what the other kids do at school from friends around her street. She's very imaginative and talks to plants and carries around a notebook covered in paint splatters. She lives very close to a crumbling, abandoned house that was struck by fire in 1911.

OK! I'll just add a bit....

~Eris~

I stared at the small weakling of a sunflower sitting in front of me with tired eyes. Flipping to a new page in my journal, I wrote:

Day 6. My sunflower (who still needs a name) has grown only 3 inches, even after food, water, and Insti-Grow fertilizer.

An idea popped into my head. 5 minutes and a few songs later, I found myself jotting down:

Does not respond to Autotuned music. Maybe classical?....

Meanwhile, my mom was flipping through TV channels before finally landing on the news. "Eris," she called in a soft voice, "there's something interesting on. This can be your Current Events update of the day." Happy to be rid of my sunflower, I skipped over to the cozy purple couch and its wide array of pillows.

A blond-haired, dark-eyed reporter stood in front of the camera, managing to mantain a serious expression. Behind her was a building that was as blackened and charred as a burnt marshmallow. "There has been a fire at H. Garry School. Although there were no deaths, one student had a particularly bad head injury."

My pulse quickened. H. Garry School? That's the boarding school that Emily and Don from across the street attend for their gifted programs. Will they finally come home now? What will happen to them?

After droning on for a few minutes about repairing the dormitories, classrooms, and various other areas hit by the fire, the reporter suddenly burst out with an update. "A boy was also seen walking out of the fire with no injuries. He claims to not be part of the classes, and called himself 'Norman'. Norman, also known by 'Fire', said that he started the incident because it was necessary. The police will be questioning later today, and the school is thinking about pressing arson charges."

Mom and I began to laugh about how phony the media is. I mean, a boy walking out of a fire? Without a single bruise? We weren't laughing long, though, after seeing the images and videos.

That wasn't the creepy thing, however.

What scared me was that when I saw the boy's eyes, I felt recognition.

Yay! I know that was a little long, but I smell suspense.... ;)

A news van drives up to the scene but we just ignore the newscaster.  Fire walks up to my homeroom teacher and asks for her class list.  The teacher refuses.  He makes a small flame. "Give. It," he demands.  She drops her list and runs away.  He looks at the list, then says,"Rena."  I hide behind Smoke.  "I'm here to take you," he looks at the list, "Marion, and Mollee."  "It's Smoke," Smoke tells him.  Principal Dell comes up to him,\, "There is no way we can allow it."  Fire hands him the release forms.  Principal Dell looks over them.  "Okay, Rena, Marion, Mollee, you're going home with this young man.

Smoke
----------

"What?" I sputter. " I'm being bossed around by a guy named Fire?"

"Like Smoke isn't weird enough?" Fire growls at me.

"At least I am respecting it and not calling you by your real name, Norman." I mutter back.

"You guys, just stop fighting!" Marion screams. "It makes my head hurt."

I glance over at Marion. Her hands are covering her ears.

"Sorry," I tell Marion.

"Why apoligize?" Fire says. I give Fire an evil glare and say myself, "You could at least have some manners!"

I look over at Rena. She is looking around, lost for words.

"Well then," I snarl, "Why do you want us? And what are you going to do with us. Because, I promise you, I will not be easy." I point to Marion and Rena, "I am pretty sure they won't be either."

~Eris~

"Well then," my mom said, switching off the TV with a worried face. "Perhaps we should get back to your plant."

I let out an audible groan, but I was happy to retreat after the scary events. I soon got bored with Avia (the new name of my plant, which meant boredom in Greek) and found myself staring out the window at the old abandoned house across the street. It was falling apart fast, and what was still standing had numbered days.

A chill went across my spine. Recognition. Recognition. Fire and that house were connected. I just knew it. But how?

"Mom?" I asked. "Just what happened to that house across the street?"

COOL!!!!! Can I join?

Name: Nyxanna (Nyx) Trillop

Age: 18

Appearance: Long silvery blue hair that comes all the way down to her knees, and really light skin. She is blind in one eye, so it's all milky grey/white, and her good eye is a pale blue.

Personality: not very talkative, has a temper, prefers to be alone. Not very patient, but has a protective, motherly side to her that no one really knows about.

Hope this is ok!

Oh! Can I be from where "Fire" is from? Like all these people with skills over elements or objects or something like that? If we can do that, I want to have control over water.
