Young Writer's Questions

Okay, sooooooo.... Go ahead and ask questions on here, since this is a "Young Writer's Questions" thread. Ask any questions, reply to any, and feel free to just talk about your ambitions, sucess, and anything else. Here is a question you might answer:

How many of you have published a story/poem/essay in a publication? Like, a real print magazine? Contest or actually paid for?

I'm answering the question you posted. I was published in my old newspaper twice and I was highlighted once. I send in so many contest entries to so many magazines... I can't count them all! Anyway, other than that, no I've never been published.

I've been published in Cricket Smile

Do you have any advice on trying to get published or just writing?

I'd LOVE to get one of my books published

Well wishes to y'all publishing your books

Spammy says xray!!!

One piece of advice that I always need is... always write down anything you might think of. If you forget an idea, I can never remember it again. And you never know when you'll need it.

I haven't been published yet, but I'm going to have a bunch of articles (I think it's around 10) published in our school's yearbook. I'm so excited! True, it's not exactly my first choice of writing, but it's better than nothing, right? My submissions never win the Cricket contests. :( Oh, well.

I won a contest in Cricket, but it wasn't in the magazine.  It's online, though.

I was printed in a young artists' mag (dunno what it's called) with my mini-comic-strip of "the Protectors". I call myself Quintus after a character in it.

I have never had my work printed, but I have some questions. How do you get idieas? How do you stick whith your idea? How do you choose a good title?

Let me drag this post from the dregs of the 2nd page and let anyone read it!

As for True S's questions, here are some *hopefully* helpful answers:

Get ideas from anywhere: watching people, overhearing conversations (you might not want to go too far on this one), and just digging around in old books.

How do you mean keeping them? Remembering or just keeping them up? Here's and answer for both: If you can't remember well, write everything down. Everything. As for keeping up the plot, you just need ideas (see item 1.)

For good titles, think of the main theme of the story, or the main character's name, or just a place where everything happens.

Hope this is helpful for everyone,

Piper C.
