THE CURE FOR

THE CURE FOR INSOMNIA: STORYTELLING?

Lately I've had bouts of sleeplessness. But whenever I make up imaginary fantasy stories in my head, I fall asleep within 5 seconds. Which is a pity, because then I have to remember where I left off the next day! ;)

Has this worked for anyone else? Admin?

Yes, I often think of fantasy stories to get my mind off the day's activities and fall asleep!

I do that every night! I have to lie in bed, with the lights off, with no noises, for at least an hour and a half before I can fall asleep. In the meantime, the characters from the various novels I'm writing will do whatever. I've been listening to "If I Die Young" a lot lately, so my characters keep dying. And then they float off on a river in a boat with roses. And everybody's crying. But more often than not, I do the same scene in my head over, and over, and over again until I get everything right. But I never write it down, because my mom would get mad if she saw the light on at 11pm.

This hasn't really worked for me- actually, it just keeps me awake. But basically thinking about anything keeps me awake, which is annoying since that means it takes me and hour+ to fall asleep. And I have to wake up early for school. (Bleh) It used to help me, but I've stopped thinking about stories when I'm trying to sleep, so I don't know if it still works. :)

So I'm not the only one who does this!!!  For me, I make up (and sometimes sleepily act out) fantasy stories or fan fics.  Right now, I'm doing a fan fic of Starcrossed, where I'm a Scion named Sabina who has a twin sister.

This actually does the opposite for me. It keeps me awake, but I do it anyway. :) For instance, last night I was making up a scene in my head where I was a Parselmouth and met Tom Riddle at summer camp... I know, weird. Luckily it was a weekend!

Yeah, I usually brainstorm for fanfic ideas, which is mainly what I write, and think about my characters....

And last night I had the weirdest dream about fanfiction....

Kicy says ch(i)nk!!!!

I plot out stuff that I want to happen in RPs...and if I have a genious idea then I always keep some post it notes and a pen near my bed.

And I plot during Gym, because we don't do much.

OMG I just remembered something. I fall asleep thinking about flamazing (so amazing that it's flaming) books that I've just read, and I've just finished re-reading The Hunger Games, so I was thinking about those when I feel asleep. And when my mom came into my room to wake up in the morning she said I was mumbling "He's only in two of the three books" and "How do they get the pictures" and other stuff. It was quiet funny. And I kept on asking my mom and she was telling me to go back to sleep, and she woke me up five minutes later and told me about it.

Speaking of dreams.. and the Hunger Games...

I had a dream a few nights ago that I was in the Hunger Games... sort of.

It seems that we, being a bunch of kids ranging from age six to fourteen, wanted to have our own "Hunger Games" There was no reaping, no tributes, no weapons, and no killing, but it was really fun.

You got "out" in different ways in different places. At the amazing playground, two-hand touch. At the snow part, if someone hit you with ice. We held truces, got together in packs, attacked, etc. IT WAS AWESOME!!!

It's probably the best dream I've ever had, next to the flying ones, of course.

That sounds so extremely awesome! But if there's no reaping, no tributes, no weapons, and no killing, is it really the Hunger Games anymore?

Unfortunately for me, the only Hunger Games dream I've had was more like a nightmare, though I can't remember exactly what it was about. :( All I can remember was stabbing someone with a knife and standing in an ankle-deep pool of blood. The stabbing probably came from when Rue died, and the pool of blood from the blood-rain section in the Catching Fire arena. Not the most pleasant dream ever...
