So I actually

So I actually

So I actually wrote this as an assignment for my English AP class. It's only a paragraph long, but I thought I would share it with all of you anyway.

(the assignment was to write using the figure of speech apostrophe. A literary device in which something that is not there is directly addressed.)

Hello Helen. Right now I’m sitting on your bed staring at the walls of your room. I am holding your leather journal, the one with the weathered cover worn down by the caresses of your emaciated hands. I knew our parent’s divorce hit you hard but I never knew the extent of the hurt you were feeling. Why didn’t you come to me so we could cry together? If you had, maybe you would still be here with me. But instead you are not. You, my little sister of fourteen, are gone forever. Ripped away from my life by the jaws of the beast of anorexia.

That's really beautiful (and sad). I really like the writing like you're writing a letter almost, but it's also your thoughts.
