Chatterbox: Inkwell

Here's my book.

Here's my book. In case you're interested:

                                                             BACK TO REALITY

I’m determined to become better at flying. I rented some space for practicing. It’s private enough so I don’t get distracted by other people.

You have to be patient and confident in order to succeed. You start running in a simple rhythm. When you think you’re ready, stretch your arms in front of you and leap into the air. If you assume it right, you will start gliding. But if your concentration is off, you will end up lying smashed on the ground.

I have no trouble flying. I decide to hitch a ride to town to show off my new skills to the citizens. I beg a ride with a trucker and ask to be dropped a mile away.                                                       “You still have a long walk ahead of you. Are you sure you don’t want me to drive you the rest of the way to town?” he asks.

“No thanks. I’m going to fly.”

He stares at me strangely, but I don’t care. Everyone will know what I can do, in a bit of time.  Soon I’m soaring across, swooping down, occasionally, to show off. Cars beep at me, and people holler. I’m creating quite a commotion.

A business man glares up at me, “What are you doing?” I answer, “Why! Isn’t it obvious? I’m flying!” After a while, I, bored and tired, land back down.

Just around the corner, I overhear a homeless family murmuring, “He's been running around town with his arms out, telling people he can fly. He almost got hit by cars a couple times while running across the streets. He's a danger to himself and others."                                I can’t believe it. They think I am crazy! Or maybe I am. Was I really just delusional? Thinking I was flying when I was just running on the ground? But it seemed so real!
